i agree with some of the posts, yes phills is corrupt, dirty, the food sucks, and yes 25 years behind thialand in many ways, but get away from the big towns and cities, no different from thailand, and 1 thing i noticed was the dog problem, which thailand has and the phils don't, the one big issue for me was the ease in which u can stay there, , thailand is not an option for me with the "showing of money in the bank" and 3 month reporting, how can that be a retirment???

Are you american? Its way easier to retire & stay in the Philippines but just to be easier isnt better.. If you like either place its worth the hassles.. I do think the Philippines is better for retirement & living day by day. Thailand is better for Vacations and for overall fun but then they want you to leave... Its a place to spend money have fun & leave... The Philippines has over 7100 Islands to Be the ultimate paradise on Earth...

I think this bus will be great is going to Cambodia as a tourist, not for Visa runs because it goes into more central Cambodia, & who wants to make a round trip the very next day thats nothing nobody would enjoy.. Visa runs which cost more in comfort are a better option..

Buy a ticket but then you over night so add that cost and it is still cheaper to do visa runs from Soi 12 for 2,500 THB.

The Us. ties with the Philippines is strong being that it was a us commenwealth in the past & #3 largest speaking english country in the world. Why not try to live a few months there , a few months in LOAS & a few months in Thailand see what you like & its cheap for travel inbetween.

Phils used to have strong ties with US till Phils Govt got greedy about the price of Subic and Clark.. also nursing staff had jobs processed in the US. ..now they have to process externally so many went to the UK instead...

I was in the phils when Subic and Clark were busy and then after they closed 200,000 had no jobs....that killed the special relationship

The fact is the Thai government and Thai population endorse and allow prostitution. If they didn't then something so obvious on their streets would not survive, or at least have resistance. Only 10 minutes in Pattaya or Phuket will show you there is no resistance. So this story is just another news clip that gets thrown out every few months to try and make it look like Thais care about this subject, which they dont.

There is a Camera store in Central center Pattaya, has lots of cameras in the windows all kinds of prices what you are looking for. The cameras includes a warranty which if it breaks or has a problem you can bring it back which I have done in the past & they are happy to take care of you.. I am always coming back to Ptty so its where I get a new cameras

I think the haters suffer from a superiority complex and want everyone to know that they would never or have never set foot in Pattaya. The truth is they are probably staying in some shit hole bungalow in Issan with a wife who even the most desperate Thai man wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. The only way they can get some enjoyment out of life is to try and bring down a city that many people enjoy. I am not saying Pattaya is the greatest place in the world, and a lot of Thai's say they hate the place as well and are only there for the money but it is pretty easy to ignore the Pattaya forum or any thread with Pattaya in it if you hate it so much. Ive been to Haad Rin several times & never felt it was dangerous, but i never let myself get into any bad positions. I stay away from any sign of drugs & am not out at 4am , its a party paradise , no worries.

As awful as this news is it comes as no surprise. Haad Rin is a very dangerous place and the numerous crimes go on there are generally unreported by the media as not to stop the tourist baht. I'm actually surprised that this hasn't happened before. Drunk Thai youth cracking onto someones girlfriend no doubt and not being able to take the rejection. That place is a complete dump and all the police care about is framing tourists with drugs. Amazing Thailand indeed.
