  1. As a spouse of a malaysian national, is it ok to fly to Malaysia on a one-way ticket, instead of a return ticket? I don't have any long/short term visit pass or visa, just will be flying in on visa-exempt. Thanks
  2. Showing that the 800k is transferred abroad shouldn't be a problem. But if arrive on 30 day exempt+ renew 30days , total 60days. Even if, as soon as you arrive you open a bank account, then transfer funds in, this process will take at least 1 week. So funds can only be in there for like 1 month 3weeks, before your 60days is up. Or is there no time criteria for bank balanes, when applying for the non-imm 'O' retirement first time (90 days).
  3. I see. So do you mean for the first 90days renewal, you only need to show the 800k in the bank (which came from overseas), and that it doesn't have to have been in there for 2 months already. Because obviously wouldn't have been in Thailand long enough to open the account and season it with full 2 months. But for the 1 year extension, then yes can show the 800k has been in the bank for 2months already. From what I've read, depending on the bank and branch you visit, its easier at some than others to open an account (even if you don't have any type of visa). All you needs is residence certificate (which you'll have to get from immigration first). I've read that Bangkok Bank is the easiest to open with, or Kasikorn.
  4. Sorry I know this has been asked many times before, but when flying in on 30 day visa exemption, can you then change this to a non-imm 'O' for retirement? I understand you need to show funds in a Thai bank account, normally this has to be seasoned for 2 months. But if flying in on a 30 day exempt, how does one show this? And apply for the visa? Thanks
  5. Yeah, the Malaysian passport holder has a council tax bill (in her married name) and an old malaysian passport which has a 'permitted to stay in the UK' stamp, but that passport is in her maiden name ???? I might send an email to the embassy and ask what is best in this scenario. They have suprisingly been quite good at responding recently, and only took 2-3 working days to answer my enquiries via email.
  6. Oh right thanks...silly me. I must have just glanced over it and not realised that it would give an example. I was looking in the manual they provide and searched online but couldn't find anything. Actually I was even thinking of using something like this website https://www.ivisa.com/photo-blog/thailand-passport-visa-photo-requirements-and-size which will do it for your apparently. Not sure if thats necessary now?
  7. Will soon apply for a Non-Imm 'O' Retirement 90days visa , on the Thai evisa website. I cannot find any information anywhere about the requirements for the photo that needs to be uploaded. ie: dimensions, resolution, background etc. Does anybody have any links or information ? That would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Malaysian citizen. I have read reports that copy of passport is not acceptable for proof of residence, as does not show your address.
  9. Hi, when applying for a non-imm 'o' for retirement what can be used as 'proof of legal residence in the UK' ? This for a UK citizen and a non-UK citizen, who are both currently and legally resident in the UK. Thanks
  10. Chiang Mai Immigration, I don't have THai bank account yet. I plan to open one soon as I arrive.
  11. Thanks UbonJoe ! In the case of my spouse (she has Malaysian passport, I have British passport), would she also need to show 800k in her name? So basically 2 sets of everything? I'm not sure where we'll be staying yet, it could be at my son-in-law's house in Chiang Mai (he is Thai), in which case not sure what we could show for rental agreement ??
  12. Is it possible to fly in on a 30 day exempt, then convert to a non-O for retirement once in Thailand? Plan to put the 800k into a Thai bank account straight after arriving, spend a month in Thailand, go to Malaysia for a month, then come back to Thailand to apply for the retirement visa. By this time the money has been seasoned 2 months already. Is this plan feasible? As I have read you need to be in the country for 60days prior to application. So I wil l prepare: - Updated bank book, and letter from the bank saying >800k has been deposited from overseas more than 2 months ago - Medical Certificate Any other docs I need to show? I had also read, you need to get the docs from the bank on the morning you apply , is this really true? As you need to be at immigration very early in the morning to do these things, so not sure how that would work? Thanks
  13. If the counter signatory is an EU passport holder, you'll also need to include color photocopy of their passport page too.
  14. For the address in Thailand, I'm a little confused over whether it should show the child's name or the parent's? As it's hard to find an official document with my daughter's name and address on. Her passport has already expired, I wonder if that will be a problem ?
