It states restrictions on Non-immigrant and Tourist on Arrival visas who will be unable to apply for Covid extension and that Immigration officers be stricter in their consideration of all
extensions, henceforth. Covid extensions available up to 25 March.

In my 25 years of traveling in Thailand, I rank most generally beautiful Thai women: 1) Ubon Ratchathani, 2) Buriram, 3) Chiang Rai

Sorry but to me this doesn't make sense to me. A highly contageous virus spreading throughout the country and numbers of infected going down.
There is no mass-testing here. People with a cold-like symptom aren't gonna be bothered going to wait at a hospital for 3 hours to get a Covid test.

Unlike in the Western World, there is no mass-testing here. Omnicron is here but it's undetected. Plenty of people with cold-like symptoms are just staying at home. Only those with severe symptoms get tested for Covid at a hospital.

If a passport is presented to a bank they will usually check the visa/extension validity also, you may not see them do it but they do check.
Some years ago, I was due to leave Thailand with a few days overstay and needed to make a passbook withdrawal from my account at a local branch shortly before I left. I had to show my passport but, because of the expired extension, that branch would not permit the withdrawal.
They check.
Yes, I can guarantee that. I was on a slight overstay at the time and needed a new UK passport (it was full), as I was going to fly on to Vietnam and needed blank pages. My Thai debit card wasn't accepted by UK passport office and so I needed to make bank transfer to the UK. No bank would allow me make an international bank transfer as they all checked my visa status (slight overstay). Put me a difficult predicament and eventually a friend in the UK paid my new passport for me. Being on an overstay was just so much hassle.

I used to use my Thai ATM in Laos and Vietnam. Bank charged 100baht per transaction.

I was on a two-year and nine month overstay a few years back. I had no problems at the airport. Immigration were more concerned that I had my 20,000baht in cash to pay the fine and politely informed me of my 3-year ban. It took about one-hour to clear - no problems at all. Check-in early as soon as it opens

After 5 days it is still showing negative so I guess I could use it as evidence anywhere as it has not date on it.
Yes, I worked in Covid testing in the UK. 15+minutes is just to fully confirm the result. Normal results before confirmation, come thru almost straight away. No worries

First time I have seen the choice between the standard 30 day extension and 60 day covid extension offered.
Finally, I was offered a better Covid extension till 3rd March. On returning to immigration on 25 Jan, I will be able to extend that further till 2nd May. So, good outcome.

A visa on arrival only allows a 15 day stay and it cannot be extended. I assume you have a 30 day visa exempt entry.
You can apply now for 30 day extension and it will start on 3 January.
I got 30 days on arrival at Suvarnabhumi, I guess that's visa except then, and not visa-on-arrival, I didn't know the diff. First time for me arrival on a 30 day stamp like this. Ubon Ratchathani immigration just offered me 30 days extension or Covid extension. I opted on 30 days as I'd like to apply for Covid extension next month.
PS: as I'm staying at a Pvt address in Ubon, immigration ask for my friend's ID Card and Tabien Ban.
Thanx Joe

Hi: I'd like some quick advice . My 30 day visa-on-arrival ends on 3 Jan. As I want to go on meditation retreat, I'd like to extend another 30 days asap. If I extended today, would I get just another 30 days from today, or from 3 Jan. Same goes for Covid extension when I apply for it next month.
Thank you in advance

After flying all the way to Phuket, most folk are happy to relax in their 5 star room for a few hours waiting result of PCR. Anyone idiot flouting the law, should be arrested and deported. Simple as that

South Africa's top Covid doctor who found Omicron has announced that South Africa infections have already peaked. She states Omicron symptoms very very mild compared to Delta. If this is true, let Omicron kick Delta up the bum and be the world's new variant

Thanks but impossible to go back before Xmas. I could possibly return the following week (with attendant financial loss) ...will see what gets announced.
A return via Sand Box is still on the cards, and not a bad option

Yep... same here. I booked my ticket back two days after news of the new variant headlined. I'm back two weeks now. No way... I was getting trapped in depressing UK again.
