There's no parcels allowed in to Klongprem Prison, there's no handling of shopping, by visitors to Klongprem. There's censorship and examination of letters.
But, hey, there are more drugs and violence in there than ever.
Where can the drugs be coming from............

American Women's Group, and British Women's Group (google details), are a good place to start.
There are many older Western women here, some have come to join younger family members and some have been here for 40-50 years - lots of fun and very happy to meet new comers!

the BBC did a 1 hour program on Bang Kwang Prison, it was on YouTube but not anymore...;-(
Go there and pay a visit for yourself, the prisoners always like to have a visitor.
a friend of mine used to go to the english embassy. then she would get access to the prison or something.
Find out from the Embassy what Building he is in. Then go to Bangkwang on the Appropriate day for that Building (Embassy will tell you that too).
Anyone with a passport can visit these days, just dress neatly.

[Read my post. I said "got some stories to tell..." and this was meant about prison CONDITIONS not individuals who are incarcerated!
Have you ever visited someone in those prisons you mention in your post? I don't think so!I recommend you to read my other 2 postings on that matter. Simply turn
to page one.
That's a bit mean.
I think the other guy got it right - the conditions are as harsh as the latest airport book written on the subject.
Have you been in to Bumbud - now that is bad!

Hi There!
I am having a logistical problem and would like advice/assistance form locals or others passing through Nong Khai.
It is getting hot (!), and I would like to donate some Table size 16'' fans to the Hmong Refugees at Nong Khai Immigration Centre (just round the corner from Tesco Lotus).
I need someone to purchase from Lotus and deliver or have delivered by Lotus to IDC - can provide further details by PM.
Please help me to help the Refugees:
Google "158 Refugees in Nong Khai" for more info.
These men, women and 91 kids are locked up 22 hours a day - you know how hot it is.
Cheers

What a smug lot you are - all theory and no practice by the sounds of you.
Father Joseph Maiier will show you hungry kids in Klong Toey, Bangkok.
Get out and about more and stop pontificating.

Poor bastard. If your gonna be dumb you gotta be tough. I really feel sorry for his daughter. Right now he's feeling pretty sorry for getting caught. I've also locked up a few of his kind. But in 20 years, when he's halfway through his sentence, he will truely be sorry for what he did.
Does Thailand and Aus. have the 8 year policy of completing his sentence back home?
Yup.
He will get Death, commuted to Life because he will admit resposibility, do 8 years in Bangkwang and then go home............. Next

Mobi? Mobi?
We're waiting................

Of course, the Prosecution can now Appeal the sentence - 3 courts here - or have things changed recently?

I cannot find the specific answer on the forum, and sorry if it is obvious!!

Hull has an additional Pack for Volunteers on their Non O Visa application site - so, is it legal or not to Volunteer without a work permit!
Seems it is OK according to Hull.
God Bless Hull!

If you have a 60 day tourist visa, you can go to the Immigration Dept, without crossing the border, and get another 30 days.
You then fullfill your obligations for the airline.
-
Well then, just detail exactly what your friend did to get Legal at Poipet, that would be of interest, instead of all this trivia - you haven't actually said how he achieved his status. Paid a fine? No fine issued? what?

Thanks for the replies - you are quite right the compelling reason to return was the fact the Boss had given the dates of the Holiday Period granted quite clearly in the verification of employment letter.
However, having got a 3 month Visa, she could possibly ask the boss for an extension to the holiday - so she would have an answer to give to Immigration if she needs another Visa later on. Would that be OK?
It was just that we had no idea that a 3 month would be granted right off!
My friend told me she could extend again while in Australia, but I don't think that is correct - in fact asking for trouble. Am I right?
We are new at this and neither me or TGF want any black marks!
-
Just a quickie to settle a worry-
My TGF has a tourist visa to visit Australia. We didn't ask for 3 months stay, but that is what she got.
My question is - Can she stay for 3 months anyway?
Thanks for any replies.

My VISA for 60 days is due to expire on 19 March, as indicated by the stamp on my passport when I entered Thailand. I'm heading to Suan Plu either tomorrow (17th) or Tuesday (18th) to have it extended for another 30 days. My questions are as follows:
(1) Which level and counter at Suan Plu can I head straight into ? I get utterly confused and lost when I see Thai scripts.
(2) If I go on the 17th, what is the likely last day of my 30 days extension ? I have heard that if I go on 17th March, my last day will be 16th April. There is a VISA run company who says that is not the case, that since the stamp on my passport indicates that my last day is 19th March, even if I go a week earlier, my 30-day extension will still be calculated according to the stamp on my passport, not the date I present my passport to the immigration for extension.
Go to the ground floor information counter (English signage), they will give you a form to fill out.
Prior to going to the Office just go over the road and get passport copies and passport photo done (shop knows what pages have to be copied).
Nice officer will give you a numbered ticket to the correct window and there is a highly visible electronic counting system, so you will know when it is your turn.
When requested hand in fee, passpot copies and photo, and form (don't forget second side).
The date they will extend for 30 days is the day that you attend. I did this procedure one week ago, and that is what happened to me!

There is no requirement for time in Thailand.
Going back to this question of spending some fair time out of Thailand when on a Retirement Extension - what about 90 day reporting?
Any other problems?

My mate spent 3 million baht on his girlfriend in 10 months, she never complained about his beard.

Have a look at SCAD, an organisation for dogs and cats in Bangkok.
Also take a look in "The Bangkok Guide'' (Asia Books, Konikynu etc.) a good reference guide to everything expat and Thailand, written by the Australian Womens Group.
