  1. Very interested to hear of any Chiang Mai residents experiences with solar installations

ie,,,, which company they used, are they happy with the results, and did / does the system they were sold do what it is meant to do..

also battery storage system experiences as the house we are building has limited access to power

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks to you all, , have ordered a mower, a raptor / briggs and stratton engine

    i had a "very old " mower decades ago in Aus with a B & S motor

it ran for nearly 30 years, admittedly they are most likely chinese made now, so i hope i get one that actually works

ill post an update when it arrives as to its perceived value

  3. i hope a few members have a  lawn mower, or know what machines actually are worth buying

i have 800 sqm of lovely lush noi noi grass that is a pain to whipper snip every week

i have found a genuine ? honda mower for about 30 k, ouch.

the other contenders are generic brands that have a honda motor around 15 k

    and a daewoo for about 10 k

your thoughts , comments, suggestions appreciated...

  4. i wish to transfer a substantial amount of money from my Australian bank account into My Kasikorn Bank account here in the order of $ 700,000 AUD for a housing project

    my question is,

is that money safe and guaranteed in Kasikorn bank ?

i read sometime back, that only deposits up to an amount of 1 Mill THB  ?? was guaranteed..

     is that correct ?

if a bank is not a safe place " lord forbid " to park money

    what other institution is safe

    in your learned opinions..

    Thank You.

  5. i am having installed in a few weeks 2 large round porthole feature windows .

the frames are coming pre coated in white from the factory.

i am wanting to spray paint them a more suitable colour, either a red or a dark blue

the product that is supposedly suitable  is a Nippon Paint  Pylac 1000

has anyone had experience with this or any other product suitable for spraying over pre finished aluminium frames or other pre painted / coated metal products

    any recommended products, experiences welcome.

    Thanks..

  6. The Piano is and will be somewhat elevated off the ground sitting on concrete footings, so im hoping thats a help

its been it its Current " waiting position " for 2 months now and not a sign of the little frickers at all

fortunately im on a decent sized block with ample opportunity to give them food away from the house and piano

there was a "big " mound down near a huge bamboo tree that was disposed of, perfect spot for termites i guess with all that leaf matter etc

  7. I dont have access to town water so i'm reliant solely on well water, quantity unknown.

and in the event of it running dry or being unusable, id rather have 20000 litres in tanks , free water, unlike the prices ive had for carting it in.

the tanks would pay for themselves in no time.

  8. Thanks for all the replies, i knew it had not been prepared properly as i watched some of the antics on show

it seems its either got to be re-done, that is if they can strip off  what remains , clean it, prime it and repaint

or ditch the colour and have plain, id rather have colour.

or the boring colour option of PVC, brown or white ??

and yes i realise there will be maintenance required, i just sort of hoped that the job initially might have been of a better standard but i should have known.....

as for the reason, i have a large area of grass, and use well water.

i dont know how long it will last, and im one for reusing where possible and to see tens of thousands of litres wasted, is a shame

i have plenty of water tanks , for storage 20,000 in total

  9. Recently installed Zinc roof gutters about 4 months ago

    they were "painted "

well someone attempted to spray some paint in their general direction

they were NOT cleaned, and the oily film was just painted over

Well its all coming off, in big and  little chunks and the hangers are mostly devoid of paint

The builder will correct the problem.

is there guttering that is prepainted properly,

    or even better, colourbond guttering

    available in Thailand.

    Thanks.

  10. Well the current infestation is in full swing down here in Prachuap.

5 nights , 5 mornings of sweeping vacuuming cleaning etc etc

the house and new building are piped with god only knows what chemicals, but my question is regarding timber outside

i have an upright piano thats being used , or will be used as a water feature

what treatment is suggested to treat / spray the piano to lessen or hopefully eliminate the risk of it being consumed

    Thanks..

  11. Thanks for all the tips

it seems that now we have a grub infestation thats eating the roots and causing a lot of very semi dead looking areas, ill have to fix that first before fertilising  and / or black soil

any recommendations for a high nitrogen fertiliser, bearing in mind there is 700 odd SQ Metres to do
