  1. Hi All,

I am in a similar situation. Have in hand the new passport and old.

(Old PP expires SEPT, New PP began July. Old PP has some holes punched in it.)

What if I would like to exit Thailand for a trip to different locale?

Do i just show up at the Airport with both passports and let them figure it out?

I recall there is some document or stamp i need to exit while on a Non-O based on retirement.

    Thank you.

My wife had my ATM card- after nearly 30 years together I had no reason not to trust her. I actually think she's covering for her daughter. Big mistake having your 800k in an ATM accessable account.

Maybe she knew you loved her so much that she did not even need to ask to know that you would have given her the money to keep her afloat. What's that old saying?

  3. Hmmm. The best way or the most effective method based on what you are willing to spend?

Are you a do it yourself person or hire the work out person?

Like others have pointed out: ear plugs

or i like loudly played White Noise videos from youtube

Also: There are special sound insulating boards you can install. Rock wool is fairly inexpensive and effective.

I always thought if i was in that situation i would build rooms inside the rooms with insulation installed.

You can google "bands building rooms within rooms" or something similar.

Tons upon tons of info out there ????

GL - i understand this pain

i don’t know how many foreigner friends she has on Facebook as I can’t view it due to her profile settings being private

    Lord have mercy brother.

    Here you go:

    1. Register a new counterfeit FB account complete with actual photo of a decent looking guy with a well rounded out profile. Don't make it obvious it is you. Same hometown, phone #, anything. A completely anonymous and separate FB profile.

Install on a separate device altogether if you are not PC savvy.

    -OR-

    2. Ask someone to use their FB

Contact your sig other in PI via one of these 2 methods and see how she plays it.

Stay calm as doing this can create an "Aha! gotcha b++++" moment.

    3. Option 3: go and visit her and install spyware on her phone or just ask her to hand over her phone for inspection lol. If she won't show you her phone then she be cheating you.

I can help you if you like. I have no need of a pinay btw. or have someone you know at home do it ????

    good luck

Hope for the best but expect the worst.

Few years ago my father lent 2m baht to a Thai lady who's was going through a divorce from a Swedish man and she needed the money to buy him our of their house in Hua Hin.

He did have some paper saying that she would pay him back and that in the event of the house being sold and was reportedly signed by a law / accounting firm, however upon looking into it no one at the firm had any idea of it.

Unfortunately he had a heart attack a year later whilst coincidentally with the lady in question, i since have followed it up but got no where and in the end gave up as there was nothing i could do, he ended up in ICU in Hua Hin which cost another 3.5m Baht.

He was also building a house near Banyan golf course and unfortunately that was in her name also.

Great memories of that little lot. Lawyers / property agents all in on it ????

No doubt. Farang beware. No wonder the Pattaya Flying Club is so popular

  7. So by assembling and installing an IKEA kitchen you have violated Thai Immigration Law.

Per posts from another thread on this forum:

If you look on the Visas forum you'll find links to info that tells all you need to know. But the bottom line is this:

There are restrictions on foreigners doing most things that Thais can do (immigration has the whole list) and among the list is carpentry, bricklaying, labouring, etc. Which means you'll not get a work permit to do any of the jobs involved in house construction.

The term 'work' in Thailand includes any activity apart from sleeping, so even if you're building a wall and not getting paid for it - you are classed as 'working' under Thai law. It's a shame really as this has prevented some voluntary workers doing a lot of potential good in Thailand.

Having said that, I'm building a house on land belonging to my wife, and have done a bit myself (including the paperwork like design drawings, etc, but I'm not sure if this is classed as work as I could have done it outside Thailand). So far nobody has bothered me, but then our land really is in the country half-way up a mountain.

So I suppose it depends where you are. But be warned there are very serious implications if you get caught. Unpaid work is still work in Thailand.

i can confirm that you arent supposed to do any work at all regardless of whether you are being paid. i am having a house of my own built in phuket and love getting stuck in helping my staff. after a silly dispute my thai neighbour threatened to call the police to check if i had a work permit. i thought that because it was my own house i was safe BUT i double checked with my lawyers who advised me i cant do any work because i am taking work away from a thai person. This makes me wonder if i can even cut the grass when the house is done or if i need to get a thai to do it?

I also know of a guy who was caught working on his project without a work permit (which you cant get anyway for building work) and he was arrested the same day. He was forced out the country in 5 days and his passport blacklisted. He tried to re-enter and got picked up twice and refused entry. He has so much tied up in thailand but cant even come back to try sell or finalise his dealings. Thats a disaster for anyone....

There are numerous videos and posts on YouTube, forums such as this and The Thaiger where Farang are obviously doing work without work permits.

For example, based on Phuketchap's post this Bloke from the Netherlands,  Maarten Munnikm, with a Youtube channel "Maarten Munnik, off-grid in Thailand" "https://youtu.be/e4WBW3_Q9L0 theoretically could be deported and blacklisted.

I apologize but this is a potential minefield for ANY Farang trying to build a life in Thailand.

No wonder all I see are Farang sitting on barstools watching the world walk by them.

I can see how many might "fly under the radar". That is, until some Thai has a fit and reports the Farang because he/she stepped on their toes.

Or their Thai girlfriend decides Old Daddy is no longer needed.

Is there anyone with any clarification on this?

What i wouldn't give for nameless ages...to be a shadow in the crowd without any notice given to my comings and goings. I know you wrote a well known (idiom?) but it simply isn't the case. Being scrutinized by endless numbers of zombie like sub humans just is not much fun tbh. Stared out by NPCs day in day out when going to the grocery aisles, the shops, the bar, everywhere...if i wasn't so tall I would wear a birka

Check your aircon and ventilation in your house, condo appartment! House animals?

I second this. I have stayed in well used AIRbnbs where I am fairly certain the filter has NEVER been changed or cleaned.

Check/replace filters. Clean your place top to bottom. Wash sheets, pillow cases, towels, etc.

Use fans if you can when you sleep.

    Eat your veggies ????

Check for lizard droppings, possibly in bags of rice, etc.

Daunting task I know, but if you don't have your health what DO you have?

I have a gal I've been with for a few years. We've had a couple of big arguments over money. She doesn't want any of it, believe it or not! Yes, she lets me pay most restaurant bills and other date expenses. But she shrieks uncomfortably if I take her to 5 star resorts or buy something expensive. I really want to chip in to help with some of the living expenses but she won't even discuss it. There were two attemps over the 4 years where I tried to give her 50,000 baht and they led to big arguments. She cried and told me she does not want to be made to feel like "Pattaya ladies." She's a mid-level manager at the HQ of a major bank and not well-off by any means. I feel just as bad that I'm the one mooching off her. So yes, there are a few of us that have been blessed with angels.

Blessed indeed. Hold on to that one Mister

Looked up Tilleke and Gibbons. They would probably fall down laughing at my measly (not to me) amount of a few hundred thousand B.

Sorry to hear this. I fell in to the same trap a while back. I eventually wrote it off to life experience Thailand version.

Thai people do A LOT of borrowing. From what I understand there are locals who give rates on loans. Needless to say this can provide quite a bit of bitterness and resentment on the part of both parties involved. Gold also acts as a buy_borrow_sell method of getting quick cash.

Houses mortgaged up to the hilt. "Oh Mister can you give me 350,000 THB to pay the bank back?" They will take my house soon! Grandma will have no home to live in. In their defence COVID hit a lot of people very hard.

If you are going to sponsor a "ahem" young lady, please take the time to understand who she is. Honesty. integrity. Work ethic.

Thai culture is very different than Western culture, Mister...

    Good luck Mister

  12. Season 2 of The Witcher

Based on Polish Fantasy stories by Polish Author Andrzej Sapkowski

Called Wiedźmin in Polish which roughly translates to Hexer

Wiedźmin is also name of early 2001 movie, which although it is poorly rated was interesting due to the popularity of a series of RPG games called, you guessed it, Witcher produced by Polish game developer CD Projekt Red, who gained huge following as a result.

in 2002 there was TV series https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1070742/  The Hexer    Original title: Wiedzmin

    Game link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/20900/The_Witcher_Enhanced_Edition_Directors_Cut/?curator_clanid=32989758

So if you like PC action RPGs games, maybe read a little fantasy fiction (similar to a darker version of Tolkein) with a brawling, drinking, whoring dark mutant protagonist this is a one stop shop for you )

Not as fun as beer girls but a wife won't get offended )

This appears to be a domestic within Thailand regulation, but as Wise pays from domestic accounts they can not send to banks they do not have accounts with (the three exceptions listed) an amount over 50k.

Not 100% on what you are getting at RE: domestic

Is this like when Mexicans in USA want to send wages home to Mexico they are limited in the amount?

So if I was sending money to a Thai friend via Wise to their bank I can only send up to 50k to non-Thai bank but larger amounts (within Wise's limits) to Thai bank?
