  1. On arrival none - a quick arguably pleasant chat with a smiling immigration officer and on-wards. Entry requirements might not be perfectly symmetrical - the lengthy form on gov.uk and VFS biometric collection which I believe you are hinting at - but at least we ain't handing over pieces of handwritten paper like it's 20th century..
  2. I think it's clear they never did, theatre and nothing more, the readings had enough variation from one second to the next that they might have been statistically random, this includes the big guns machines at malls - the ones with the 50" inch TV attached and primitive people detection software. Even if they did work on occasion it's unclear anyone knew what the procedure would be for out of range detection. Most mitigation measures have been ridiculous during this pandemic.
  3. Expect that to be revoked soon enough, in the meantime for those un or partially vaccinated flying between DMK and KL when the full service resumes the route is operated by both Thai AirAsia and MY Airasia check the 2 letter code for your flight and choose accordingly
  4. Embassy should just add a link to the GoFundMe "Create Campaign" page to the resources for those travelling in Thailand section on their website... ????
  5. Anyone else think that small gestures like this and TM6 temporary removal are timed distractions to avoid what we all desired yesterday (with hope of announcement on Friday) of ridiculous outdoor mask mandate finally being dropped
  6. Indeed, reminds of the well planned introduction of the 09/06 mobile numbers that not a single bank (for OTP etc) or government portal had planned for or was able to fix for months, at least in one banks case, years later. No one will have communicate this onwards I think, hotel checkins will be equally confused for a day or two. Will there be a grand infographic and shoulder patting event - probably not - even acknolwedging it's costly (the printing is just one issue minor part of costs) and can cause queues its only temporarily 555
  7. What are the current documents required for a first 12 month non-imm O extension based on marriage in bangkok (moving from a 3 month non-imm O obtained out of country), and any ChangWattena office specific oddities currently requested? I understand there no way to book an appointment for this - what desk do we go to? What are latest refusal stories? Rather avoid repeat visits How early can one apply for this based on existing 3 month visa? Can the consideration stamp be got on the 89th day technically? On the 400k, my bangkok bank book hasn't been updated for years, and with the QR payment thing I can imagine possibly a few thousands entries to complete - possibly several books maybe dozens, would some letter suffice instead showing 400k 2 months ago? In hindsight I shouldn't of used this account for small payments but that's hindsight. I did consider using a full service agent, but with two quotes at 35k and 39k it seems extreme if I can satisfy the deposit requirements. Is anyone aware of a reasonable priced agent that can "help" glide the process on the day, present at the CW office, that isn't the above price considering we do most of the leg work ourselves, direct message is fine, thanks Anything else to be aware of?
  8. International flights are sent to H row last week, somewhere to the middle right (where the left is the original Thai airways, domestic, 1st, anyone worked for Thai or contractors in last 6 generations of family or last 50 years, military personnel their friends and family and distant relatives, monks and trainee monks, friends of powerful people check-in) - this is a departure from previous arrangements. Miracle lounge near F was open and operating as normal, didn't see the other lounges. So there are significant changes and in addition online check-in is was not available (booked direct with Thai, no entry requirements, still not available).
  9. You can partially complete an application to give you an idea of what you will need to start preparing, you'll get to the third step which is approximately 14 jpeg/pdf uploads of supporting docs which is much greater enhanced from what is listed on the information page.
  10. Only ever been asked once and this was at Malaysian land border several years ago, it seems more a hard reason for refusal when they had already made up their mind, I was U-turned back to Penang, flew back the next day, never been asked since.
  11. They are just astoundingly bad drivers, I did a few hundred miles the other week, and you see the road awareness is nearly zero, for example they will be accelerating as the car in front is breaking - with functioning break lights, yet doesn't register, resulting in harsh breaking a few hundred milliseconds later for somchai tailer.
  12. We found appointments for MFA in Chiang Mai much sooner than Bangkok, it meant a trip to CM though, and we did get questioned about why we didnt use the MFA in bangkok (similar situation appointments week away) but I think just curiousity rather than then trying to do the usual roadblocking, not sure how feasible that is for you.
  13. I noticed this week a few more foreigners maskless in central Bangkok so things are looking up. I like to think that small nudges like this might encourage the Thais to participate in critical thinking rather than blind compliance, although I'm probably being optimistic here. Middle class perfectly healthy Thais still look at you in utter disbelief when they see a foreigner maskless on Sukhumvit as they go about their day double masked and alcohol spraying every few minutes.
  14. Just fyi, Our result took just under 4 weeks if it's of any help, I think songkran pushed things out from the 3 weeks someone experience just before us. Collection took 30minutes of waiting .
  15. Sorry it wasn't similar to us, maybe songkran backed things up, we literally booked ours within a few days of applying (and for free) ..
  16. There was some talk about 20,000baht fine but I don't recall hearing about anyone ever being fined that high amount, there was also some talk that it would be technically unenforceable if push came to shove, and also that the first fine would be much lower - you're probably pretty safe if you carry a 1000baht note
  17. I think it must vary a lot by location, I rarely see a Thai unmasked outside of a park in central bangkok, and even in the park compliance is high. Most Thai's are still in peak fear mode - double masking, spraying the foodpanda delivery etc.. so there seems little will to change for the natives But I do think the dropping of masks outside mandate definitely needs to happen, even Singapore did this some weeks ago, cant be too many countries other than Thailand and China that enforce this currently
  18. Can't recall exactly - but it was within a few days late March suspect it will be similar today,
  19. Weirdly you only get to supply the last 2 visits to the UK, EU and AUS, yet you have to provide every visit to any other country at any time in history that isn't UK/EU/AUS/NZ.. so weather in total its 10 or 2 for those "prestige" countries won't matter.. We uploaded a screenshot of google flights with the name plannediternary.pdf with nothing booked to the broken VFS portal (you get a link after completing and paying the app on gov.uk) but pretty sure it wasn't required and we definitely told not to book flights in advance during the app process.
  20. Definitely checked spam/junk and used the correct email? I spoke to someone a few weeks ago who had their evisa non-imm o back within a day - applied online whilst in the UK, hard to see why a tourist visa with less documentation would take more time
  21. What's the turn around from submitting the online Thai embassy evisa application for a non-imm based on marriage whilst in the UK? Going for a week, so short window. I understand if granted this initial non-imm will be only be three months? How does this print off I guess, turn into a visa that can later be used for Thai DL, bank account etc..? Does the immigration put a non-imm visa when arriving at swampy? Requirements is pretty basic I understand is marriage certificate (do this need to be translated and legalized?), invite from wife, financial statements, passport copies, travel itinerary? And payment? That's all?
  22. Yep 90baht a pint of Tiger if I remember right, can't beat it ????, that's great news about the three week turnaround..
  23. Preview is broken. Told six weeks in person yesterday. - well technically not in person as they dont let the falang in on the 28th floor at the moment, although there are adult day care center near the ground floor to wait for 30-60min it all takes
