  1. Only in Thailand... They will eat this up sadly
  2. Taxi for TunnelRat to China... Don't forget your PPE and face visor, and take no more than 10x100ml of hand sanitizer in your hand luggage...
  3. Just one data point, friend just booked a flight economy to thailand from UK 1060gbp - there are slightly cheaper but with crazy connection times or false prices - long haul with no luggage etc, prior to covid he paid typically 500-600 all in. How many EU or UK tourists are going to pony up over a grand pp just to get here? I see a big slump coming until the whole Ukraine and fuel price situation improves..
  4. For anything other than trivial stuff they usually sent you onwards to your origin branch so this is a welcomed change. At one point, like changing phone number for OTP, they were - reluctantly and with a lot of tutting - faxing documents to the origin branch which they would execute in some unknown amount of days - of course despite dozens of pages faxed nothing was ever executed days later.
  5. Most of the fleet is still parked at swampy, other airlines are back to normal yet Thai only operating at a fraction of their previous capacity, can't see them being able to turn this around quickly.
  6. No problem on the BTS this morning, maskless as usual, past two security people at each station, no issues. Announcement on board still advisory "recommend". Nothing has changed. Several other foreigners demasked, no problems. If it has suddenly became mandatory then the BTS company certainly didn't get the memo. It seems to me that this is a simple misunderstanding - possibly a poor translation from suggested to mandatory - or possibly someone speaking without authority. Anyway, no mask no problem, i presume the cinema will be same, they weren't enforcing masks for Top Gun, doubt theyll start this week.
  7. Masks on flights within Thailand [1] and to/from the EU and other international countries has been optional for while however technically it has been mandated on inbound to Malaysia flights until today.. Good time for a shopping trip to KL me thinks.. --- Face masks are no longer mandatory on flights, said Malaysia's Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin. In a statement on Wednesday, Mr Khairy said this protocol would take effect immediately. He added that the relaxation of the rule is also in line with health recommendations from the European Union, Britain, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. -- https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/covid-19-face-masks-no-longer-required-on-flights-says-malaysias-health-minister [1] https://thethaiger.com/coronavirus/are-face-masks-still-required-on-domestic-flights-in-thailand
  8. Will they also charge me an additional 220baht surcharge for using my foreign debit card to make this payment ????
  9. I definitely empathize with you and fully agree it's ridiculous, I do expect they will go hand in hand and will fade away at roughly the same time as masks - most of the big X stickers have been worn down now can't see them being replaced, although with immigration it could be weeks away.. With reduced mobility I'd just take a seat and see what happens, this late in the game even the young fierce ones might think twice at taking a pop. To answer the question though, the social distance requirements are less in my face (no pun intended) - immigration and banks maybe once a month - e.g. none on flights or BTS or even in hospital waiting rooms now
  10. I'm not going to argue or debate with someone who voluntarily restricts their own breathing...
  11. Got an appointment in October at CW, I still suspect I'll have to wear a mask that day, seen the young ones snap at the farangs even though some of aunties working there no longer wear them, it will the first time (from today at least) and last time I suspect I'll wear a mask (yes that includes flights, BTS, cinema etc..) anywhere in Thailand. Banks will probably fall inline next week I suspect.
  12. Children should never have been burdened with this ridiculous requirement for the last 2.5+years just to give a few very sensitive adults a further minor feeling of safety...
  13. Just 3? Shouldn't everyone be on their 5th or 6th jab by now as recommended by world class scientists and top government officials and exemplified by Auntin himself? Of course I'm being sarcastic, you'd have to be brainwished to the max to continue chasing this elusive immunity by just one more jab every four months.. some people here are on their 7th and planning their 8th good grief
  14. can't fault the marketing for selecting Thai audience, was hoping the nasty nostril irritating alcohol sanitizer sprayed liberally into the air in my proximity would be a distance memory of the past soon - you can smell it the moment the family on the table behind or the person across from you on the BTS has a minor panic attack since they accidentally touched the escalator and starts with the whole spray down their hand procedure... now this..
  15. Makro the queue moves fast and no voucher madness. Tops has the slowest moving checkouts every man and his dog using some form of voucher or promo, and resplitting their trolley load for more voucher hits, everyone wanting to declare their loyalty and forgetting their own phone number, then just when you think you're about to get served someone will have forgot to weigh that one apple, and perhaps rightly, isn't going to step aside after dealing with the promo junkie that went before them and took 10 minutes.. Tops is good for one thing - developing the virtue of patience and tolerance.. I use it as a self-improvement tool ????
  16. Others will see it for themselves when they fly, masks aren't required anywhere in the airport, or on-board although unnecessary masking is still 85%+ onboard, but if you want something for avoidance of doubt see https://thethaiger.com/coronavirus/are-face-masks-still-required-on-domestic-flights-in-thailand
  17. I've did several flights this month too from both BKK and DMK, and I thoroughly disagree with your numbers, in the airports more are than not but that's only because of Thai herd mentality discussed to death elsewhere, it is nowhere near 95%, I would say it's currently at 70% in the airport on the domestic side, on board around 85%-90%.. Regardless, like back home (wherever that is unless mainland China) it is not required or expected, or necessary. and I certainly won't be encourage this nonsense any longer just because when in rome.. (also not just limited to farangs - several young - presume uni educated Thais on unmasked on my flight the other day so even the natives are adapting, finally)
  18. Are you talking about yellow stars? Was the size or fabric type or the method of attachment of the ribbon important?
  19. This needs to happen, I can't believe bangkok schools are still mandating this in the classroom - most allow playground activities demuzzled, unfortunately its not just POH and auntin singing masks for the good of the people, there was even some teachers in another thread this week pushing their promask for eternity (or have they choosen their own date) agenda
  20. It's not required anywhere hardly now, certainly not on the BTS, or 7/11, or shopping malls, no domestic airlines requires them - you can fly AirAsia, ThaiSmile, Nok, Lion and do all airport formalities without a mask. The remaining hold outs appear to be a few government offices and some banks, although I suspect this will change soon. Oh and hospitals still although someone people in the waiting room were demuzzled when I was there - as I had other things on my mind and I didn't want to argue with ignorant promasker in a waiting room at hospital on this rare occasion I reluctantly did a bit of face diapering for 20minutes.. There is a still a perception issue though, some people mistakenly presume for example you have to wear at EmQuarter due to a poster from earlier in the year, and I guess some people could mistake the silly temperature sensors at 7/11 as meaning requirement, but that is purely inferred - masks are optional.
  21. You can get the multiple at the airport? I never knew this, that would be much easier
  22. This will be the biggest factor in influencing the populace to lower their face diapers, I highly suspect there is an element of paid product placement in play here - if I were a mask manufacturer or a consortium of mask manufacturers/importers there would be no better bang for my advertising bucks than having the domestic news and reality show presenters masking into Q4..
