  1. @The Fat Controller, no she doesn't use online banking. when we get there we will find out what the charge was for and i will update this thread
  2. yes treetops. she sent 1000 as a test , to make sure all the details are correct , account number , name etc . we put to but a property , BB took 300bt . today she sent another 1000 "to freinds or family" , she received the whole 1000
  3. thank you .so when she sends the big money she doesn't need to say what it is for ? will stating "sending to family or friends " be enough ?
  4. thanks very much guys we did another test today . in the first test BB charged her 300 baht as when we filled out the wise reason i put "to buy a property" as that is what she is doing . today and every other time we have done it we put "sending to friends and family". no charge today or in the other times we have sent money @JayClay thanks @Jimjim1 we fly next friday . we don't have time to set up an account. next tuesday was the earliest appointment and then i think they said it takes a week to verify her or something like that . not sure what they would give as an exchange rate either . thanks again everyone
  5. hi @treetops . i will check the pdfs we both hold baht and pound in wise, and we both sent baht to her bangkok bank account . we have to go to the local atm in london to see her bangkok bank balance so we can't see charges, but we phoned BB in london and the lady said the 300 would be receiving charges . i have sent money to a few people in thailand and they always get the exact amount i send. no idea what is going on tbh . thanks for replying
  6. hi all my girlfriend has sent money from her wise account to her bangkok bank account . we both live in london uk. today she sent 1000 from wise and bangkok charged her 300tb . i sent her 1000 and she was not charged anything anyone know why ? she wants to transfer money for a house purchase and wants to do it the cheapest way . i did read online that bangkok bank have a receiving fee of 0.25% ( not less than 200tb or more than 500tb ) . but why would she be charged for sending to her own account but they don't charge me ? thanks
  7. thanks very much @aldriglikvid @ifmu @Marky Mark Mark @ubonjoe for all your help
  8. thanks very much @aldriglikvid that's a big help. i was going to just book the first month but i had a feeling they wouldn't be happy with that . so did you get the 60 day visa and then extend for 30 days ? i'm guessing you can't get the 90 days before you travel from what i have read and been told, unless something has changed ?
  9. thanks martin . so i will book the flat that i will be staying in , and then also book a hotel for the second month and then cancel later is that correct ?
  10. i have filled out the stv visa and said i was staying with my girlfriends family . they have asked for confirmation details of hotel accomation for the duration of stay i was going to book a flat for the first month . will this suffice ? if not ,what options do i have as i was going to stay at my girlfriends familys house after the first month thanks
  11. what kind of discount from the asking price do you think is likely now jcmj ? 10 % , 20% more ?
  12. village, i had something similar in my flat in london . concrete floors. the chairs made an awful scratching scrapping noise sound . you could buy these or something similar and ask them nicely if they would cut them to shape and stick them to the bottom of the chairs https://www.amazon.co.uk/Oak-Furniture-Adhesive-Floor-Protectors/dp/B005AVIWRW/ref=asc_df_B005AVIWRW/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309785471682&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13610099417433599890&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045939&hvtargid=pla-719455140901&psc=1
  13. @richard_smith237 thanks very much that is very helpful i will be living in hua hin . would any of you have any ideas on where would be a good place to buy a car from ? i only want to spend about 200k-300k . cars are so expensive in thailand for what you get should i start a new thread for this ?
  14. thanks for the reply clive , i might go down that route . yes i can trust my GF , although we have only been together for 15 years ( yes years lol ) living in the UK together, she has dual citizenship . if i buy it in her name, is it pretty easy to get insured on it . she doesn't drive at the moment but she will do lessons when in thailand .
  15. i have never read that before jacko. but people smoke various amounts and i have never read of anyone over dosing or dying from too much cannabis . it effects people in different ways mentally
  16. smedly said cannabis was dangerous. i wanted to know what he was basing his views on . using it himself or from what he has read I would suspect someone with brain damage was not a good source. i'm not sure what this means jacko
  17. ok , and i am not being argumentative. just interested to know when you last smoked weed . or have you never smoked it ?
  18. @smedly serious question, when did you last smoke a joint of weed ?
  19. thanks for the help @FriendlyFarang and @HauptmannUK
  20. @FriendlyFarang thanks for the reply . can i get this certificate if i am only staying for 2 months ?
  21. i will hopefully be spending a few months every year in thailand and would like to buy a car . i am a uk citizen . i will be applying for a METV visa . i read a guide on here recently that said the following ( below in italics ), i will be living at my girlfriends house , how or what do i do to get proof of residence or anything else i need , can i buy a car on an METV ?: One key document.... Proof of Address... This comes in the form off any of the following: - Affirmation of Residence letter (from Embassy) - Certificate of Residence / Address (from Immigration) - Yellow Tabien Baan house book Simple method. Pay cash for the vehicle / bike. Give the dealer your Proof of ID and Address document - they do the rest. -------- OR... IF what you mean is that you are currently riding around in a car or on a motorcycle which is not yet in your name. You need to go to the DLT with the same documents, also the previous owner needs to be with you unless they have signed over a specific document (I forget the name) and a copy of their ID for you to take ownership. You will also need the Blue (Car) or Green (Bike) Registration Booklet if its a pre-owned / pre-registered vehicle.
