Yes one of my friends (CN Passport) was asked to see if he has a bunch of Turkish Lira in cash before he was allowed to board the plane to Bangkok from Turkish Airlines. Another Caucasian individual in front of him was also asked whether he carries sufficient cash or not, and he said he doesn't and then he was FORCED to leave the queue and withdraw Turkish Liras at a nearby ATM and come back and then be allowed to board the TH bound plane. The boarding pass issuer checks this randomly, and my friend said there were a few check in counters and only that one counter of the total 3-4 countered checked for cash sufficiency. But it is real. But the exact amount of the foreign current wasn't checked in Istanbul, merely need to show a WAD of money.

Because on the Air-side ATM specialty thread there's one answer saying there ain't any ATMs on the air side which would mean I gotta take my remaining Turkish Lira which isn't much at all and exchange it at a very unfavorable exchange rate. If there are ATMs on the AIr Side I can simply do a maximum limit withdraw and be done with cash shortage for the next couple of days at once and then do the 30000 Baht withdrawals at Krung Sri Yellow. So you're certain there's at least 1 SCB ATM on the airside when I land from Qatar Air from Doha?

Oh no I am definitely not willing to pay the 200 Baht Tip-Bribe but it seems like if you hold CN Passport and if you refuse to pay up sometimes the worker behind the booth of VoA will throw tantrum and not process it for you until you make a scene... No not that I sincerely appreciate your Travel Ex links, it's just that you know, the kiosks offer a very poor exchange rate almost all the time comparing to finding an ATM and withdraw 20000 Baht at once when I land airside in Suvarnabhumi. Ok so before departing I'll withdraw all my Turkish Liras while here in Antalya Turkey, then I may take the Turkish Liras with me to Suvarnabhumi, so that if I cannot find any ATMs on the air side I'll use the FX Kiosk near that VoA Payment Booth. If I am lucky to find an ATM on the air side I'll withdraw the 20000 limit and that would be the best case scenario.

I'm currently in Antalya Turkey, I think it'd be extremely difficult to find Baht paper bill and the exchange rate is probably gonna be a slaughter even if I'd be lucky enough to find a shop with Baht cash...

Hi there, so in order to pay for the 2000-2200 THB visa on arrival at the Thai airport entry, I must withdraw some cash prior to entering Thailand at the airport. I was told there are several ATM machines that I can withdraw cash using my debit card at the air side, but are the air side ATMs yielding an inferior rate than the land side ATMs? Or they are exactly the same as long as I use the debit card, both rates should be identical stipulated by Visa and MasterCard? Do air side ATMs at BKK charge more fees? Are there Krung Sri ATMs on the air side? Any other air side ATMs that can withdraw a lot of Baht?

Yes Fido has a 500 a day limit, that's why the majority of my for-withdrawal cash are stored in the Schwab checking acct. I called Fido last year to attempt to raise my daily withdrawal limit but they could not and advised me the only way around is to open another Fido account. Which there's no point to it unless one refuses to open accounts with Schwab.

Yes I am Extremely Noise Sensitive. Which parts of Bangkok would you recommend me selecting to avoid as much noise as possible? I don't mind moving way out of the city as long as there's public transportation but the soundproofing or the overall quietness would be so important to me. Hi there, if I want a quiet place in Bangkok, should I simply book hotel rooms on hotel sites such as Booking or Agoda one month at a time? So I plan to stay in TH for a while but am not sure what is the best flexible way to book for accommodations. My only requirement is that it is in Bangkok and it is quiet (no partying noises or thumping noises and has internet access) Should I simply book hotels for 1 month at a time and renew or book other hotels when the stay is up or should I explore for other options such as Airbnb? How would you suggest if you are to stay in Bangkok for months and you want to have a quiet place to stay and some flexibility if your stay isn't ideal?

Also do Thai banks have these fancy in-branch ATMs such as the ones Chase have in their branches? But yes the ones attached right on the outside of the bank's branches seems to be a lot more reliable especially if we only do the withdrawals during business hours. Do Thai banks have lunch breaks? Turkish banks all have lunch breaks which they would close the door and refuse entry from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm and reopen til 5 pm. Yes according to the current exchange rate as of April 17 2022 to withdraw 30k THB it should be around 895 USD so Sch's 1000 a day limit shouldn't be bothered

Man these up-to-date information is extremely important and helpful! Schwab uses a visa debit card and has a 1000 USD a day limit. So I guess the winner here is Krung Sri, aka the Yellow Bank, and the lowest fee option is to simply withdraw 30000 THB at a time. Also how do I make sure that the ATM machine has enough cash? I have encountered in Turkey multiple times that the ATM does NOT have enough cash and therefore wasting time and money travelling to that ATM. Most large bank ATMs especially the in-branch ATMs do have enough cash but not the Post Office ATMs, which frequently run out of cash in Antalya Turkey. So best option is do 30000 at Krung Sri, then 20000 at Aeon, then 20000 at other banks. Couldn't do Schwab at Bank of China ATM since they don't accept Visa Debit Cards right?

Hi there, If all banks charge 200 Bahts of ATM fees no matter which color banks you use and the exchange rate are all determined by MasterCard or Visa, wouldn't it not make any differences no matter what bank you use? Which means we can just take our Schwab DC and just walk into any bank's ATMs and withdraw 10k Baht when we need cash? Also are Aeon ATMs always superior because they charge less fees and yield the same exchange rate Dollar to Baht? Also how much Baht can we withdraw at most at one bank's or Aeon's ATM? 10000? 15000? 20000? Also are there no-fee Thai atms out there as of April 2022? Also are the exchange rates of each ATMs really identical as determined by Visa or MasterCard?

Oh and just FYI I had extremely poor experience with Wise. They arbitrarily suspended my account twice, and I am not the only person plenty of people have their account arbitrarily suspended and wise requested a lot of intrusive documents from me to prove that the transactions I have been making was my own money. It has been a very miserable experience because I have to prove that my money is mine and my money and my account has been completely frozen in the mean time. I closed my account with wise when they froze my account the 2nd time even when the account itself has no money in it. I cannot tolerate Wise randomly without any notice suspending my acct and I have to submit a myriad of documents to get the account unfrozen.

I heard it is 10000 THB at once is it true can it be more? Also since Aeon ATMs aren't ubiquitous, have you found any other banks that provide great rates and charge minimal or zero ATM fees? Hi there, I know there are Bangkok Bank(the dark blue bank), Siam Bank(the purple bank), Krung Thai (the light blue bank), and Krung Sri (the yellow bank), Kasikorn bank (the green bank), government savings bank (the pink bank), Which one of these banks are the best with no fees or the least fees with the best exchange rates? Could you rank these banks from the best to worst? Also how does international banks such as Citi and HSBC fit in the equation? Thank you very much!
