Hi all,
I stayed at a place called Samui Garden Home or something like that last year and I am going for an extended trip again on Friday. All I can remember is that it is relatively close to the McDonalds in centre Chaweng! Can anyone remember the name of it? I think a double room is about 1k a night in low season.
Any help appreciated as I can't remember the name or indeed I don't have a contact number.
cheers

Do you still need a Certificate of Residence if you have a Work Permit.
I also wondered if you need a cCertificate of Residence when you need to sell a motorbike (if you have a work permit)
Any advice appreciated

This is a post I put on P-L last night. Please read the content.....not a formal wake, but if you knew Lee and are in the area, you are more than welcome to come along.
We have decided to invite everyone to a night for Lee Mansfield in his bar tomorrow (Friday). Stargzer, Extras and Dirty Sanchez (flying in from Singapore) I believe are coming into town and I ask everyone who is around or knew Lee to come and remember him. In regards to the finalising of Lee's resting place, well this is to be confirmed, but safe to say that there will be a ceremony and wake organised more formally in days to come, but I feel that there is a need for some to grieve, laugh, reminisce right now.
Alex, I know that Lee would want you to be there. I also know that there are still some differences you have with the social circle, but this is time to forget on both sides. You are big man and there is a need for you to help us grieve at this time.
Everyone is welcome, but please please please lets remember Lee for the great man he was. I have received tributes and messages from people all over the world who knew this fantastic character for which I am very grateful. Many others have too.
Tomorrow was supposed to be a send of for a good friend Plakapong (who is sadly returning hopefully briefly) to England. I know Phil will be there and want to have the chance to say goodbye to Lee. There will be others who cannot make it, but there will be a more formal time too, you can be assured of that.
Many thanks

So that means that I can get my WP through my current non-B anf the company can get me a 12 month extension, based on my current visa. If so, great news!

Just bumping this thread as I really need some advice on my last post
Thanks

Ok, now I am really confused. I should have perhaps mentioned that I have a non-B issued from Hulll in the UK. This was issued on 19th November 2008 and I am now in the extended 3 month period, giving me 15 months. My company have applied for my WP using this non-B and allegedly the dept of Labour have said that provided the visa is processed prior to the expiry on 14th Feb, they will be able to extend my non-B. Therefore, the application being made is through a WP2 application. Is this the correct procedure, as i was told by a visa expert that I would need to leave the country and get a new one??
-
When Form WP3 (work permit application form) is lodged at the labour office, the prospective employer receives a receipt, which is the Approval Letter referred to in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes on Non Immigrant "B" Visa application procedures in the link below. This Approval Letter (which is a small slip of paper) is what you will need to show the consulate. Consulates within the region will normally only issue single entry visa first time round, and you can apply for multiple entry visa next time with actual work permit, or apply for extension of stay based on employment at Thai immigration if you meet the requirements. When you have your visa you will need to go to the labour office (who will want to see the visa in your passport) and you will sign and collect your work permit at the same time.
Thanks so much for your help!!!!! All is now clear!!!!

It appears that no one in my new place of work has heard of such a form. Is it available at the Dept of Labour once the application has been lodged?? Would a letter from the potential employer, contract and company papers not suffice?? FYI I am using Siracha Dept of Labour/ Immigration.
Cheers

Mate - forget London, just apply to Hull. I had a letter from a Thai company and was granted the visa in 24 hours. Hull is the easiest place to get a non-B with minimal hassle and paperwork.

There are actually a couple in the Eastern Seaboard - PRTR based in Laem Chebang and Pacific 2000 based in Chonburi. May prove tricky to get a position in the surrounding area of Pattaya, but certainly not impossible, depending on your experience. You may fair better in Bangkok, where there are several more agencies. Do a search under Recruitment Consultants, Thailand on Google.
Good luck

Hi there - I need to find when Golden Gym is. Apparently it is off 3rd Road, 100 metres towards South pattaya road. A soi nmber would be extremely helpful.
Thanks in advance

Hi there - I used to play to a reasonably high standard at schoolboy level regionally. Not picked up a racket in earnest for a number of years and am relatively unfit. However PM me if you would like a game!

If you find a shop that makes one, does it look exactly the same? I would rather do it the legal route.

Hi there - during heavy rain I managed to lose my front number plate. I went to the Police station in Banglamung and was given a Police report for the loss. Now the car is registered in Bangkok and I live in Chonburi (Pattaya). I have been told that to obtain a replacement number, I will have to go to Bangkok as Chonburi will not issue a new plate. Is this true?? I can't believe it, but suppose it sums up the challenges of Thailand.
Also, if this is the case, I may just transfer the car to Chonburi office. Does anyone know the expense of all this, or indeed can anyone give me some good advice on this subject? Thanks in advance

I know this sounds weird, but Craig the proprietor of Cafe Uno in Soi Khao Noi, East Pattaya can fix just about anything wrong with your computer. He can come to your house. Very nice chap. I had loads of things wrong and it cost me next to nothing for him to fix it.
-
Bit of scam then really as I will have to pay another whack in June - should have waited until then to transfer, but they would have probably back charged me!!
-
I have just bought a car from a friend and changed the plates for new ones. The car is in my name and I have the blue book. However, the transfer was done on Feb 15th 2009. My road tax, however, has not been renewed for the year and I have to pay it again on June 15th 2009. This is when the tax ran out on the old number plate. Is this standard procedure when a transfer happens or have I been done??
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
I am looking to sell my motorbike and have heard that I need to get another certificate of residency from immigration (I live in Pattaya) so that the buyer can transfer the ownership of the bike into their name.
Is this true? Does anyone there know the exact paperwork I need?
Thanks for any replies.

Dao Pizza's are good as are ones you can purchase from Pizza Pizza. However, I was lucky enough to sample one from Cafe Uno on Soi Khao Noi and it knocks spots off any other pizza I have tasted in Pattaya. I have no affiliation with this place, but I can safely say for a price of 175-195 baht you will not gett better in my opinion.
