    Hi Steve

go Sai Sam....about middle of the way from Khlang to Tai. There is a shop right before a car wash (on your left side). I went there today, they seem to have nice parts, but non for my bike. But I saw parts for the Nouvo.

It is still before Excite Disco on the right side.

    Thanks !!!

  3. Hello. Well i have done my forum searches..........Yamaha..........Nouvo.............bolt ons etc etc so i feel safe to ask this question now.

I would like to tart my Nouvo MX up a bit...just to make it a bit different.

Is there a shop in Patters that anyone can recommend for bolt on goodies for the Nouvo? I,m thinking of the chrome things ( plastic bits for the engine and near the footwells etc? )

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  4. In my hometown of Doncaster, UK ........any smile at a stranger is likely to produce one of two reactions............A blank stare......or usually.........." What the <deleted> you smiling at <deleted> ! " Followed by a headbutt.

Hence the reason for relocating. :D

Very true steve. Smiles from strangers are definitely suspect in the UK.

But I don't know if that is enough to make one flee the country?

Nahhhhhhhhhh just one of many little reasons that when i put them altogether made me realise i was wasting my life in the UK. Slave to a mortgage............yob graffitti everywhere. The Saturday night drunks fighting over something stupid.

My government. :o The freekin nanny state that we have become.

Now? Beautiful home...no mortgage. Fabulous wife, good friends........my only stresses are 1) That my class kids do well in their exams 2) What shall i eat today? :D

  5. Sorry, still confused, despite all of Lop's input.

As I have a Non-Imm B, which is fixed for 1 year (I dont do 90 day runs) I was under the impression that I dont have to leave LOS.

As long as I time my resignation correctly, I have 7 days to get my proof of income from the embassy and go down to change my Non B to a retirement extension. Right? I don't have to leave?

When I leave, my school will take my WP for cancelling, and I have a fuzzy? 7 days to sort out my Ret. ext?

I would rather not leave, cos of partner and other things going on. Also, it would seem a waste to leave, get a 90 day, come back and then convert, when I can do it all here??

    Cheers

    P

Many things are a waste of time in Thailand.............but thats how it is. If you are still uncertain then talk to Sunbelt Asia. Their advice will be correct.

  6. As above. Had mine 4 days now and i love it.

A commute to school in the car used to average 15 minutes ( pattaya ) Now on my bike takes about 7-8 minutes. Weaving in and out of traffic. :o

Not tried top speed yet but have had it up to 90 kph no problem so yes.....i can imagine it would top out at around 110.

  7. .

I've read through this and several similar topics and i remain a tad confused.

    1. If you have a work permit and a non-B one year extention of stay, you resign or are terminated, i understand that you have 7 days from (or following?) the date of your last date of employment to return your work permit. You also apparently have 7 days to leave the country. But, if the WP is related to the labour office and the visa is related to the immigration office, how would immigration know you had 7 days to leave? Does the labour office need your passport when you hand in your WP and they stamp the passport 7 days to leave or similar, or do they type something in to a linked computer system? How would immigration know?

    2. Say you had to leave (assume immigration does know), and if your visa was valid for a while longer (and visa expiry dates are not always linked to the same date as the renewal date of your WP), could you return for another stay (doing a 90 day report as usual) assuming you had a re-entry visa of course, until the visa expired? I think there's a lot of misinformation in these forums where posters just reiterate something they once saw which might not necessarily be true, and on this matter my experience has always been as stevemiddie's experience.

Maybe Sunbelt could answer for us?

    Hello. Confusing indeed. :o

The 7 days starts to run from the day your employment terminates. Sometimes the employer will not have been able to hand in the WP until maybe 2 days afterwards ( for varying reasons. )

It does not matter. The clock is ticking from the day your employment terminates. You MUST leave Thailand ( if you have the extension of stay ) within 7 days from cancellation of employment.

IF you have a WP and NO extension of stay, i.e you are using 90 day multi B,s then you do NOT have to leave in 7 days. Just carry on as normal until your next border run.

When the WP is cancelled you receive a small form from the Labour Dept stating that your WP is now cancelled. It is advisable to keep this form as Immigration will sometimes ask for it so they can confirm the date of cancellation and therefore the date you left Thailand. ( looking for overstays :D )

I don,t know if the Labour Dept or Immigration computers are linked so i cannot definately state that Immigration will always be aware that your WP is now expired. The Labour Dept does NOT put any stamps in your passport to confirm this. ( not in my case anyway )

Does that help a little? ( please be aware that all of the above is based on my sole experiences which may not always apply in other Labour Depts and Imm offices..........this being Thailand etc :D )

  8. Hi.

I can give you my experience which is almost exactly the same as yours.

I had an extension of stay until October 2007 based on my work at a school in Bangers. I also had in my passport a Multi B Visa which expires on the 21st July 2007.

I resigned my position in Bangers due to relocating to Pattaya. The school cancelled my WP ( as they must ) . I had 7 days to leave Thailand. No problem. Went to the Cambodian border.........spent 30 mins in the casino there and returned to Thailand where i was now allowed entry based on my Multi B. They gave me a stamp for 90 days.

There was no drama and it all went smoothly.................despite what my school told me about EVERYTHING cancelling. It doesn,t. Your multi B belongs to you once its been issued......despite what employers will tell you.

  9. You seem to be changing your plans rather quickly. A few weeks ago you were taking the wife's kids to live in the Uk...and then opening a shoe shop. Are you sure you want to live here?

    Well spotted !

Another poster that can,t be bothered to search the forum for Visa info. :o

    buy

You would think at over 50 years of age you would have a definate plan in mind.

come on stevie dont be hard on me..lol

I,m not being hard............just realistic. :D See my other post previous giving my point of view to your question. :D

  10. You seem to be changing your plans rather quickly. A few weeks ago you were taking the wife's kids to live in the Uk...and then opening a shoe shop. Are you sure you want to live here?

yes well spotted geoff, we are keeping our options open because what i want to do at the end of the day is make sure i am doing the best for my wife and her family and also mine, so there is lots for me to ponder. she is happy either way i am 55 now so i want to make sure i do the right thing because as you know if i do decide to live in Thai then there is no going back bcause financially for me it would very difficult. I want to make sure i use the money i have to the best effect and here in the uk they make it so hard to make a decent living and i guess thats why some of you are there now.the shoe shop was my idea cos i have a daughter here who can run it and maybe make some money for me while i am there?? ok so all of you have lived there for some time now please tell me would you ever come back????

Similar situation to you before. Had to decide whether to sell my UK home or not as i realised it would not be easy to get back onto the housing market once i left.......due to increasing prices etc.

The first year was tough here in Thailand............new culture etc. Trying to get used to the " no problem " culture as nothing happens fast here. Now into my 3 rd year...............very happily settled, nice home , car, lovely wife.

I went back to the uk 6 months ago for a 2 week holiday. I changed my flight plans after 4 days as i was missing Thailand so much and being back in the UK reminded me of my reasons for leaving in the first place.

I made the best move and i,m not returning ( touch wood )

Hope everything pans out for you.

  11. i dont think if these guys are biased abt givin out a credit card , its jus tat bank of thailand has tuf rules for plastic money .. splly wen it comes to non-thai's !

the min criteria i know of -

    1. a salary pkg of at least 1 Mil THB (most of the banks do this, even if its not a printed requirement !)

    2. Account cash flow

    3. Recurring balance maintained

    4. Spending habits / debt history

    6. At least one year in the SAME company (or TWO for some). If you change your job after a year, youre bak to spot zero again !

Finally a pinch of luck !

BUT AEON is biased, they say its only for thai and japanese !

    cheers !

You answered yourself in the first sentence of above post. Up to them.

Depends on the branch. No hard and fast rules apply in Thailand.

Me.........crap salary as a teacher. Wife.......... makes all the money ( chain of beauty salons )

Wife............... Account with Kasikorn Pattaya Tai. Lots of money going in. Me.............Visa credit card in my name from same branch, thanks to my wife. :o

  13. Get an IDP and save yourself the hassle.

What has not been mentioned is that yes.......without one you may get a small fine.....and you are probably going to have to go to the Pattaya police station to pay it.......by motorcy taxi. A needless waste of an hour or so and not worth the hassle.

Thai drivers do not follow logic............ be prepared for the unexpected and ALWAYS be aware of motorcys on your inside and outside. They are all over the place and if you have an accident and a motorcy rider is injured..........you have NO IDP............trust me......you are going to get seriously hammered for compensation for the bike, the injuries, the treatment....the alleged 14 years off work he will say he has to endure all at 2000 baht a day loss of earnings. :o
