  1. See, I saw something about multiple languages before applying (along the lines of what you quoted) but only English and French on the document, which had me wondering.
  2. Oui, je suis Loinx! LOL. Ok, thank you for the input!
  3. It's mostly in English. Was just wondering why the rest was in French? No other language.
  4. Hello All, Just got my International Driver Permit from AAA. Noticed on the "document" that they gave me has French writing on it (see pic). 1. Why? 2. Is this supposed to be Thai writing as I clearly stated I would be using in Thailand? I dunno, anyone have experience with this?
  5. It's not that my wife couldn't be bothered to get on the internet, it was her more not understanding why that if "we" had a business together why I couldn't be part of it. So it's just one of those things. Secondly, my wife and I have been together for 10 years and we would both be funding it. And always try and be as careful and diligent as possible, which is why I come on here for these types of questions ???? Thanks for your response!
  6. Coming to Thailand in a few months. Wife and I have been discussing opening a business. I'm under the impression, that it doesn't matter if my wife owns a business, I cannot work unless I have a work permit. My wife doesn't agree (or more specifically UNDERSTAND why). I'm not a 100% sure though, which is why I'm asking on here. So hypothetically. We open a business under my wifes name, lets say a shop. Is it against the law for me to be "working" there, if say I wasn't actually receiving a pay check? Income essentially would go to our shared bank account but... That's my wifes income " ". I've done a search of the forums to see if this specifically has been asked but couldn't find anything, if so feel free to point me to the thread. And thanks for any help. I would also like to add the reason for doing business under my wifes name is because it seems pretty complicated/expensive/not realistic for us to open a business in my name. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong if so. Thanks again!
  7. I would bet money that only a hand full of local hotels (guesthouses) would take part in this scheme.
  8. Let's all not forget. This "plan" has been in motion since what? 2014? It may have not started with the hotels but it certainly was up and running for a while now. The sterilization of Thailand, the "Targeting high value tourist", etc... They throw a whole load of <deleted> to a wall and see what sticks to fill their coffers. It's been going on for 6ish years now.
  9. I mean, when you book a room. Generally speaking the only name they care about is the person who booked it (paid). I don't remember them asking my "guests" name. It was me booking a room for 2 people with my card. Now they will ask the names of both people to charge accordingly? This is so dumb at this point... Will never happen. Although...........
  10. Depends if they're going by look or by name. Kinda like a farang driving a bike down the street and a Chinese. Who they pulling over? Or as someone has mentioned, at the national park with their (Malaysian?) girl who got Thai rate. I mean I'm guessing (once again this is so stupid that it's kinda pointless talking about) that hotels go by name... So Xi Jingping gets foreign price.
  11. We'd do that when it came to renting condos or certain other things. For hotels, generally speaking it's all done online. Thailand is starting to say the quiet parts out loud which is not a good look for them. I mean if they start announcing that at certain temples or museums that they have separate shoe racks for farangs and Thais it wouldn't be the best look. Ya know, keep that quiet.
