  1. An update on my treating sarcoptic mange with Borax in 1% Hydrogen Peroxide. It completely cured my dog in about 6 weeks of completely soaking the dog using the spray bottle every three or 4 days after shampooing for three weeks or so and then spraying it on any areas that seemed to need it without shampooing beforehand for the next three weeks or so. The mange has not reoccurred and I get compliments on a regular basis on the appearance of the dog.

Additionally I feed raw meats, chicken, fish, and eggs with small portions of blended vegetables such as green beans, golden squash, carrots, etc - this produces an entirely different looking, more intelligent dog than those that are fed on grains - more muscle and highly alert and energetic but also more stable than many of the frantic gate dogs one sees in all the sois ...

pongosnodgrass - the word my wife and other Thai use for Borax is "borack" - if you go to the Vidyasom store you will get the regular price - it is posted on the shelf the boxes of borax are sitting on in the showroom ...

  2. I've used this formula for mange - described on the following site - on my ridgeback puppy and it seems to work quite well for scabies (sarcoptic mange) - others apparently have used it successfully for demodectic mange

    see - - http://www.earthclinic.com/Pets/dog_mange_cure.html#

it is basically supersaturated solution of borax in 1% hydrogen peroxide, applied after shampooing and left to dry on the dog without toweling

the poster claims to be "Ted from Bangkok" and he might be ...

in any case, Ted's info for where he gets his chemicals in Bangkok is a bit confusing so I posted the following to the "EarthClinic" site

    .....................

For those in Thailand who want to try this remedy, VIDHYASOM CO LTD does indeed carry the Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide needed for the mix, their address is 43-5,51 8 Bldg., Ratchadumnoen Rd. Bawornnivet, Phranakorn Bangkok, Thailand 10200. Telephone 2282 8940-3

They are very near the Democracy Monument - a few doors down from the 7-Eleven, their storefront display is mainly laboratory glassware and medical instruments. They are a very reputable medical supply house and fine to deal with in person.

Dealing with them on the phone can be problematic however, even if you are Thai. Of three phone calls we made to them, the woman who answered the first time (speaking in Thai with my Thai wife) said they didn't have Borax, on the second call, a man who spoke English with me said they did have Borax and it cost 3,420 baht per Kg (about 100 US dollars), on the third phone call, the same man told my wife (in Thai) that 450 grams of Borax cost 320 baht (about 9.50 US dollars). 50% Hydrogen Peroxide costs 200 baht (about 6 US dollars) for a one liter bottle. He also gave directions and said we could park in their spaces at the back of the building.

    .......................

I bought the chemicals for the formula from them - the Borax is B.P. quality and it did indeed cost 320 baht for 450 grams

I applied the solution to my pup using a spray bottle and it relieved the redness on his skin within minutes and seems to be healing the pup's scabies without any issues - he immediately stopped scratching and biting himself and does not lick the powdery residue that must be left on his skin. No further hair loss.

considering the nasty side effects of the big pharma crap the Vet wanted to sell me - it seems like it might be the ticket

  3. m b r -

I haven't seen anything to indicate a birth certificate is needed, nor more than copies of the id pages of the passport and the visa page and exit form - nor have I heard that the wife has to write a request letter - ditto re "letter from a friend".

where did you get this information ?

also wouldn't that be TM86 (form for changing visa to a non-immigrant visa) ? TM7 and 1900 baht will get you a 30 day extension of your tourist visa as I understand it

Anyone re all this ? It would be good to get the details rather than just an outline of what is to be done.

    Regards

    Anders

  4. If you change from a 30 day stamp. Its 2,000 Baht government fee for the change to a 90 day non-immigrant visa and 1,900 Baht for the extension of stay. The multiple rentry government fee is 3,800 Baht

Our professional fee is 3,900 Baht for the change to a 90 day non immigrant visa and 6,500 Baht for the extension of stay.

    Sunbelt -

So what exacly happens with this process if your office handles it ? We give the paperwork at your office and the government fee of 2000 baht plus your fee of 3900 baht and you change the 30 day entry to a 90 day non immigrant visa - giving me 90 days to extend for 1 year - is this right ?

Is there a time period before the 90 days is up that the extention has to be applied for or is it just a matter of doing it at the end of the 90 day period and at that time the government cost is 1,900 baht and your office fee is 6,500 baht?

And if I want multiple entry I add 3,800 baht at the time of getting the extension.

Have I got the timing and costs correct here ?

  5. Lopburi3-

Thank you for your time in replying to my post - very kind of you

I see I was not specific enough re what I was aking however, so I have the following question now for Sunbelt or whoever might know:

I am currently here on a 30 day entry from doing a border run to Cambodia - will I have to go out of country to get a visa upon which to get the extension or can I do it all in Bangkok after the marriage ?

    Thanks again

    Anders

  6. Sunbelt -

The (Thai) lady I have lived with for many years has been earning more than 40K baht for for a number of years now. Her pay is deposited in her bank account montlhy by her company and there is a complete bank record. tax record, etc. We have no dependents.

I worked at a University here for nine years and stopped working several years ago to write. Since I stopped working I have been staying in Thailand on 2 month tourist visas and entry visas.

If we marry can I prompty get the spouse visa based on her salary that is described elsewhere on these forums ?

Is this a 12 month multiple entry visa ?

What is the total cost for everything involved in obtaining this visa?

Will we need an attorney such as Sunbelt to help us handle this ?

I was informed some years back that Thai ladies married to foreigners cannot own land in Thailand -is this true or was it true and has been changed or maybe never was true ?

We pooled our money and bought a condo in Bangkok where we live and which is registered in her name only. She also owns a building lot in Ayuttya which she received from her father which is registered in her name only and we are planning to build a house there in the next few years. We haven't married because when we understood some years back that Thai women married to foreigners cannot own land we didn't want to risk having difficulties with this land or other land we might want to buy in the future.

Can you give us the complete details on getting the visa and also answer our questions about the impact getting married would have on her land ownership ?

Many thanks in advance for your time and attention to this

    Anders Olavson
