I had a long hard think on how Thailand being "unique in their world view" is impacting my life.

Still thinking. I'll need to get back with you later.

Well, unlike westerners, Europeans even more so than Americans, the typical Thai has no concept of any culture outside of their own, fortified by school officials telling children for over a decade that they are the superior culture.

If one has to spend more than three minutes considering how that might impact ones life living here, well.......

If we do not know other cultures, we can neither fully understand nor appreciate our own, nor make needed changes to it to make it better.

Take a photo of what you want and show it to them. No need for any discussion in any language.

    Don't learn Thai doing that.

Is there no one here who knows about apps.....?

    Don't use Google Translate.

When I ask my friend to translate what I want to say in Thai he writes it for me and says this is more or less how a Thai would say what you want to say in English. ????

I have to. My Thai is just a few months old. So I need it when I go to HomePro, etc, looking for something I don't yet have the words for.

    Problem is, they can't answer....

  4. So, we downloaded Google Translator for English-Thai/Thai-English and it works fine from English to Thai, but ....

When we switch it to Thai-English, it takes the Thai being spoken and thinks it is English and makes up idiotic nonsense....My Thai neighbor said, Sawadee Krap and it translated it as, It's a lot a cr@p.

    Well, if the shoe fits...

What do we need to do to make Thai to English work?

    New I-Phone...
