  1. To close this off, I have talked with him and he will visit KK Immigration next week to do his 90 day and take advice from the IO. He plans to desposit 400K in the middle of Oct and leave it there until the renewal is completed in Feb 23 Thank you for the advice
  2. Thank you. However, I understnad that the 40K per month is not necessary if the 400K is in place two months prior to renewal. How about him putting 40K intoday in a local transfer or must it come from Outside Thailand
  3. An acquaintance of mine is living in Thailand with his Thai wife and is on a marriage extension, which runs from Jan 2022 - Jan 23 for which he, I understand, is required to deposit a minimum of 40,000THB per month for 12 months. He tells me he has deposited amounts well over that figure for every month of this current year, making two such deposits in Feb, but has forgotten to make the deposit for Sep. It's too late now for him to transfer via Wise as it will not arrive until after 30 Sep. He could go to the bank today and make the required deposit, but I understand that the money has to come from outside of Thailand and cannot be a local transfer. Am I correct or wrong in my understanding please.
  4. I have a friend from the UK who will come to Thailand shortly. He is coming for 16 days, so I understand he will not require a visa as such. However, I further understand that he will have to obtain a stamp in his passport which I believe is known as Visa Exempt. I would appreciate, subject to the above being correct, to know the procedure he has to follow when he arrives at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Is there a special place to go to get the stamp, or will the Immigration Officer do it? I also understand that he will have to show evidence of cash to the value of a minimum of 20,000 THB and confirmation of hotel bookings, plus a vaccination certificate for Covid -19 and a return air ticket.
  5. I have a credit note from Air Asia for flights cancelled during the pandemic. I now want to use it, but cannot contact a human in Air /asia to arrange new flights based on the credit note. I have tried their App but the subjects covered do not include re-booking using the credit. Grateful if anyine can advise.
  6. Just been down to Bangkok to renew my UK passport and stayed in a hotel for 1 night. I have now returned to my home in Khon Kaen. Do I have to report my return to Immigration?
  7. The payment form required by HMPO to authorise the cost of a New UK Passport asks for details of your debit/credit card. Within those details they require the 3 digits on the signature strip on the back of the card. I have a card from Virgin Money, and whilst speaking to them yesterday, I mentioned the above. They were very concerned that to put the complete details of the card on a piece of paper, which anyone can see, breaches their security rules and told me NOT to comply. Should I ignore their advice, they would not be responsible for any illegal use of the card in the future. However, without those details HMPO cannot collect the cost of the Passport from Virgin Money, Anyone ever had a problem in this matter?
  8. I was recently in the UK for 8 weeks. I have been vaccinated 3 times and wore a mask in UK. Yet I went down with Covid on day 15 and again at a later date. I returned to Thailand on 3 June and at a hosptial appointment on the 5 June was told I still had covid in my body. It was like having a cold and really no inconvenience to me. Doctors here told me I was not infectious so I continued my daily life without any problems. On this last Saturday I went shopping and from what I could see, all the Thais were wearing their masks. I was not wearing a mask. In one shop I asked the young shop assistant why she was still wearing a mask and she replied ' I'm scared of getting Covid' So I guess it will be a long time before a maskless society will return. After my bouts of Covid, I now believe that if it makes you feel safer from getting Covid, then carry on wearing a mask. However, I think they are of limited benefit, and in my case, not effective. I was not out on the town during my UK stay, at 84 years have to suffice with fond memories!!!
  9. Ah! Those were the days! Doubtless the PC brigade could not see we Brits were 'aving alarf ' at ourselves and no offence was intended.
