  1. I finally got through the paperwork to visit the physio department of my local hospital. It's a small town, the hospital isn't on a par with big town facilities, so I was surprised to find them using a technology unknown to me - Electro-Magnetic Pulse Therapy. I'd expected a few gentle manipulations and a hot compress, with some advice on follow-up exercises at home. I got the hot and heavy compress treatment, twenty minutes front and back, and then twenty minutes with the machine, which looks like a large shower head attached to a mysterious white box on castors. They pass this "shower head" over you back without any pressure, like ironing a sheet or something, and you feel these very pleasurable pulses, at varying speeds and force, working on your muscles and nerves in an entirely different way to massage (which has never suited me). I could feel the tingle go down my arm and twitch my fingers. Result - although it felt good, it didn't seem to have much effect until several hours later, when the pain left me. I have booked a course of this treatment, twice a week for five weeks, and it may be that I don't need it this long. 500 baht a session, but for the effect it's had so far it's an absolute bargain - you'd pay that for some masseuse going through the motions while she thinks about what she's going to have for lunch. So there you go - came here asking for advice and ended up giving it! https://neurolaunch.com/emp-therapy/
  2. I've had effective treatment too, back in Europe, so I'm hoping to find someone here. This gives some temporary relief, but I'm hoping to get more lasting treatment. Thanks for your replies. Anyone with any experience of acupuncture/physio in Thailand, specifically the area between Muk and Nak?
  3. If you've had any experience, good or bad, with acupuncture or physiotherapy in Mukdahan/That Phanom/Nakhon Phanom, I'd like to hear about it. I have a trapped nerve in my neck causing me left shoulder/arm pain. I am looking for private treatment as I could die of old age waiting in a government hospital. If you can help with a recommendation, I'll be grateful.
  4. This is all very helpful. I have the 800k in a Thai bank, been there for a few years, and I'm not now likely to dip into it. Additional bank-related questions, if you have the time: - Do I need a bank statement showing constant 800k for one year previous, or three months? (Not a problem with either). - Letter of guarantee from the bank? - Copies of passbook? - Does the passbook have to show some activity in/out? I'm hoping to use the account untouched, kept as retirement visa extension fund. - Do I need wife's housebook, ID? - Map of house location? Photos of me in my shorts in bathroom? - Any sneaky paperwork nobody's mentioned? Nakhon is notorious for introducing unexpected last-minute hoops to jump through. Thanks again.
  5. Nakhon Phanom. Used to be like Colditz, but has improved recently!
  6. Any advice, info? I've extended my non-imm O visa via marriage yearly for sixteen years, and my financial position now makes it easier for me (I think) to extend my visa on a retirement basis. I will still be married, same address, everything the same (haven't been out of the country for years), except for the change of reason for visa extension. If you have any tips, I'll be grateful! (I did a search on this site for this topic, couldn't find anything, but if it's been covered before a link will be appreciated. Thank you.)
  7. British design scooter, made in Thailand, but their website is down. Ho hum.
  8. ... don't all rush at once.
  9. Anyone got one? Any good? Where can I buy one?
  10. Thanks for the replies. The Thai language pack had already been downloaded and installed, and it still wasn't working, and I'd already tried uninstalling and reinstalling this and the Translate app, but I did it again, by a slightly different route, and now it works offline for text but not voice input. I have no idea what I was doing wrong. I don't think Google have yet made the voice input an option for Thai. This and Lens are very useful apps here!
  11. I have Google Translate and Papago installed on my Samsung phone. Both should work offline but neither does. Both work well online for both text and speech recognition. I have tried every advice/workaround I've found on the internet, but the advice never applies for some reason. I'll be very grateful if you can help, but please try to avoid the uninstall/reinstall method! Thank you
  12. I don't want to clog up this thread needlessly but I feel I have to offer my heartfelt thanks for all the work and thought and care that you've put in to this, Mike!
  13. No melatonin, no work.
