I'm 64 at the time of writing (February 2025) and am British.

I left school at 16 and didn't know what to do so had various admin jobs for four years.  I then visited a company of career consultants, who advised me that my high logic ability would help me be a computer programmer.  I did a government-sponsored programming training course (in COBOL, for those that know), and spent the next 43 years on a consistently-enjoyable career in IT (programmer, business analyst, data analyst, etc.).

I retired to Thailand in 2023 and live in the Isaan region with my partner and our two young adopted boys.  My hobbies include anything to do with an internal combusion engine, photography, astronomy, continuing my perpetual journey of learning and understanding things (thank you AI!), and trying to be a good partner and parent to my family.
