What Did You Do to Your Bike Today ?
anrcaccount replied to canthai55's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Today- Struggling to source or even find new premium tyres for a Honda SH150i ( currently Phuket) . 100/80 -16 front AND 120/80 -16 rear. Anyone on here can help? Tried multiple local shops, Lazada , struggling especially with the 100/80 -16. Ideally Michelins/Pirellis/ Bridgestone but consider anything premium. Can find this, but only the rear size! https://shopee.co.th/BRIDGESTONE-Battlax-sc-ขอบ14-16-ทุกขนาด-ยางมอเตอร์ไซค์มีหลายขนาดให้เลือกด้านใน-i.204830621.5660269177 -
Ha, this has absolutely nothing to do with it!!! Most tourists don't even give covid a thought anymore, not even a minor consideration in just about anyone's travel plans.

Looking at an older Honda SH 150i, great model. May need some work done to it. Maybe add some new suspension etc Any recommendations for good Honda mechanic / shop - located from Phuket Town down south to Chalong?

To his absolute credit, he said the below, that it's clearly time to stop masking children. So will give him full credit for that at least!! Kindergarten and elementary school students should no longer have to wear masks in schools as the Covid-19 situation in Thailand continues to improve, according to virologist Yong Poovorawan. Dr Yong posted on his Facebook account on Friday that infections in children are uncommon as the majority are already immune. According to a study by the Centre for Viral Studies, around 80% of primary and kindergarten students have already been infected, and many others already vaccinated. Despite the possibility of re-infection, the symptoms are not severe and one in three pass without any at all. "Everything will proceed naturally, just as with a respiratory disease," wrote Dr Yong, chief of the Centre of Excellence in Clinical Virology at Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Medicine. While the Department of Health, along with the Ministry of Public Health, still recommends juveniles over two years old wear masks, Dr Yong suggests that, for young children, wearing a mask is ineffective and not worth the trade-off in educational development.

This is a factual statement. We cannot dispute that. 2022: The journey back to normality for Thailand after COVID-19
anrcaccount replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Some positive steps in 2022. But 'Normal' will only truly return once people start showing their faces unmasked, and the once fabled 'land of smiles' returns. One can only hope 2023 is the year that will happen...... Some us were hoping 2022 , but clearly were too optimistic!!! -
Tourism Ministry Proposes Free Covid-19 Booster Shots for Tourists
anrcaccount replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Outside of a handful of countries in Asia, and excepting the latest news on China, Covid is barely a thing in most of the world's lives now. It's not reported on widely, doesn't make the news in most countries (Latest reports on China ending Covid Zero clearly are an exception to this) Covid isn't a consideration at all for the vast majority of travellers around the world, so won't be for the "healthy and wealthy" tourists. -
Anutin Downplays Covid Regulations for Chinese Visitors
anrcaccount replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Way too much fear in this thread. Think logical people. Only a handful of countries are putting restrictions on Chinese travellers, and these aren't likely to last longer than a few weeks. Most countries won't put any restrictions on. Why not you ask? From a health standpoint there's no valid reason to restrict Chinese travel. Here's what the ECDC statement says: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-64119080.amp The EU's disease agency has said the screening of travellers from China for Covid-19 would be "unjustified". In a statement, the ECDC said: High levels of Covid in China are anticipated given the country's low immunity and recent relaxation of its rules But higher immunity in the EU means a Covid surge in China is not expected to impact the bloc The Covid-19 variants circulating in China are already circulating in the EU Potential imported infections from China are "rather low" compared to the number of infections already occurring in the EU And citizens in the bloc have relatively high vaccination and immunisation -
In this case he's following most other countries lead. USA and Japan will be outliers here. This statement sums up a sensible view from Europe: The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said it considered "screenings and travel measures on travelers from China unjustified." The agency said in a statement that the BF7 omicron variant prevalent in China was already circulating in the EU and the European Economic Area (EEA), and that its threat had not significantly grown. "Given higher population immunity in the EU/EEA, as well as the prior emergence and subsequent replacement of variants currently circulating in China by other Omicron sub-lineages in the EU/EEA, a surge in cases in China is not expected to impact the COVID-19 epidemiological situation in the EU/EEA," the ECDC the said.

USA decision is based on politics not science. Let me give you the words of the European Centre for Disease Prevention, as a good explanation of why these measures are unjustified. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said it considered "screenings and travel measures on travelers from China unjustified." The agency said in a statement that the BF7 omicron variant prevalent in China was already circulating in the EU and the European Economic Area (EEA), and that its threat had not significantly grown. WFT P category holders are not eligible for work permits and logically do not require them. As the email reply, stated work permits are only for employees of Thai based companies. Interestingly dependants of LTR WFTP holders can apply for digital work permits and work for a Thai employer. But the WFTP holder cannot as logically their whole visa status is based on being employed by a foreign employer. As for your second question- that's the entire point of the WFTP category with all the associated directions and laws on the LTR site. This category is in fact, the only truly legal and fully legitimate way of working online for a foreign employer from Thailand.

Huge hypocrisy for sure from China, but the USA is equally guilty here, did you see the comments in the same article from US officials around testing to "slow the spread". Coming from a place with no Covid rules or restrictions at all where the virus has spread freely for a year? This is all just fear and emotion over logic.

More than 5M Chinese Visitors expected in Thailand next year
anrcaccount replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Mike, you're normally sensible on covid. The issue with restarting any travel testing / border restrictions is, where does this end? By this logic, why hasn't Thailand been restricting arrivals from Japan, where they recorded 1M cases last week? If they do this for China, next it'll be the US ( still lots of covid there), the UK, Japan, where next and we'll be back to 2020. It's a slippery slope. The virus is well established in Thailand and has been for a year. No new variants of concern have actually eventuated globally in over a year. Yes some surveillance testing is warranted but only for the purposes of checking for new variants. -
Not a necessary response to use travel restrictions , the virus is well established in Thailand and has been for a year. yes some surveillance testing is warranted but only for the purposes of checking for new variants. Those calling for this need to think, by your same logic, hasn't Thailand been restricting arrivals from Japan, where they recorded 1M cases last week? If they do this for China, next it'll be the US ( still lots of covid there), the UK, Japan, where next and we'll be back to 2020, there's no need to do this.

I bet you'd take a dose of the virus over daily testing for 3 years! What a nightmare, I'm sorry you've had that experience. Gladly though China opening up will end the absurdity of daily testing, that will be soon be a thing of the past. -

More than 5M Chinese Visitors expected in Thailand next year

I know whats happening there. Massive spread due to an immune naive population barely vaccinated, with little prior infection due to draconian lockdowns and restrictions. Most of Chinas population will get infected over the next month or so. But the rest of the world went through this when Omicron came out a year ago. Having said that, when they open up to inbound Chinese - Thailand doesn't need to be concerned as they have significant immunity through prior infection and vaccination. If they were worried they should have been testing arrivals from Japan - 1M cases recorded last week. The idea of border closures for Covid and even any testing restrictions is just unnecessary now days. -

Not a logical or rational response from a country recording 1 million reported cases a week. Japan had some of the highest reported case levels in the world and has done for weeks now. -

Yes, they're getting massive case numbers but only because they kept it out so long with lockdowns and draconian restrictions. Covid is well established in Thailand. If/as Chinese tourism resumes this won't make any significant difference to Thailands case levels. -

Some reality needed in this thread. This is nothing at all to do with Covid. Forget about that, it doesn't matter. It's about Chinese tourists coming back to Thailand. Like it or not, they'll be flooding in within 6 months- Covid is not a factor for that.
