  1. Yeah, I have to wait until tomorrow morning, but I better do it. Better safe than sorry. It is a great exchange rate right now.
  2. That is great advice! I am going to use Wise. And I have a few weeks, but I guess I better not to set it too high. If it never reaches my desired exchange rate the transfer will never happen. Have to think of a logical exchange rate. Any suggestions? ????
  3. I am just wondering about USD to THB exchange - any advice on if US Dollar might get any stronger? The reason I ask is within the next few weeks I will be transfering $21,000 / 800,000 Baht to a Thai bank for my retierment visa extension. I am kinda tight for money, so hope to do the transfer when the US dollar is close to it's peak, but don't want to get greedy and wait until after the US dollar starts to drop. Thanks for any advice. ps: I am thinking I should do it asap?
  4. I called one I found and they said 100 baht extra per night. I booked there for my first few days in BKK. Just hoping to find more options as far as price and location, for me and my chihuahua kid Billie (in this picture).
  5. I am looking for a hotel or guesthouse where I can stay with my small well behaved chihuahua pup. Maybe around Khaosan Road or Sukhumvit area? Thanks for any advice.
  6. I will trying in Bangkok. But I will using an visa agency, so if anyone would know the right office to try, I hope they would. Thanks for the reminder about not all offices.
  7. I just have a few months,. Gonna talk to some visa agents, I heard they can sometime grease the wheels with the Thai immigration, but I doubt it will work. I am thinking I might just stay for a while on the extensions, then maybe leave Thailand after anyway, so I don't want to transfer all my money into a Thai bank yet. Going to decide after I am there for a while. I am on the central US time zone. Time for me to log off the computer, will check back later... thanks.
  8. Great. I figured it was ok, just wanted to be safe. Part two of my question: What if I transfer money from one Bangkok Bank account to another. Does the 800,000 baht need to show that it came a international transfer? and the Bangkok Bank internal transfer would not show the money as a international transfer.
  9. For the 800,000 baht in a Thai bank for retirement visa extension. Can that money be in two separate Bangkok Bank accounts that are in my name? The reason I ask is, I am first going to try the combo method. So I will transfer 200,000 baht to my current Bangkok Bank account to combo with my social security pension. But if I end up having to do the 800,000 in a Thai bank, I will want to get a separate Bangkok Bank account only for that money. Thanks for any advice.
  10. If I end up going the 800,000 baht in a Thai bank route, can that money be in two separate Bangkok Bank accounts that are in my name? The reason I ask is although I doubt it will work, I am first going to try the combo method using a visa agency. So I will transfer 200,000 baht to my current Bangkok Bank account to combo with my social security pension. But if I end up having to do the 800,000 in a Thai bank, I will want to get a separate Bangkok Bank account only for that money. Thanks again for any advice.
  11. I first entered the info you listed on my banks website when I tried to do a transfer to Bangkok bank, but my (small) bank rejected it because it was a international transfer. I then was told to use their wire department and gave my bank all of them info you listed. After 6 hours of back and forth with their Cisco secure emails, scanned and signed documents, they did the transfer.
  12. Ahhh, that's what it looked like. The problem is I am using a smaller bank in Texas and they only allow international transfers by calling their wire department. And they are being very difficult, saying they will do it once as a courtesy. It looks like Wise is easier to use. I am going to do a test money transfer today.
  13. I was going to do a test transfer from my US bank to Bangkok Bank using Swift. I set up an account at swift .com, but their instructions just seem to just be a loop saying what you need to do, using "Swift Go" I guess, but does not tell you how to do it. Am I missing something? Anyone have experience doing a Swift money transfer?
  14. I'm thinking a agent would be good for me to use, at least for the first year. Can you recommend any?
  15. I transferred $US dollars to Bangkok Bank directly from my US bank, using the Bangkok Bank in NY routing number. My Bangkok Bank account is valid. I use it often. The error said it was refused, so I figured it was Bangkok Bank. I talked to my bank in the US a few minutes ago and they said they refused it. I just need to call and talk to their wire dept. on Monday and they will make the transfer happen. So this thread can be put on hold until I talk to my bank on Monday. Thanks. One question for now. Is it better to transfer US Dollars or in Thai Baht?
  16. I need to transfer money from my US bank to Bangkok Bank, so I did a test last month for a small amount of money, but it was returned. Before doing a long distance phone call with Bangkok Bank, does anyone know the reason it might have been returned. Or I guess there are other ways to transfer money from a US bank to Bangkok Bank? Thanks for any advice.
  17. Cool, I also plan to get a covid test, just to help avoid any problems on arrival.
  18. I will be arriving at Bangkok Airport on October 1st. My vaccine history is: - March 23, 2021 - Sinovac - July 31, 2021 - AstraZeneca Is that enough, or I guess I have to get another vaccine? Thanks so much to anyone who has knowledge about this!
  19. So if it is 2 visa exempt entries via land (per calendar year). I could go to Thailand in early October and get one at the end of 2022, and then do two more in 2023? I am hoping I won't need to do this many, but just in case.
