  1. After the many comments, I'll write something again, although I really only wanted to share the story. I can understand why so many people think it's a fake story. When I first heard about this alleged arrest warrant from '94, I couldn't believe it myself. I thought it was a mix up. But I have a photo of the entry from the immigration file in front of me. I have to rely on the lawyer for the translation and of course I will not share it here. I think BritTim's analysis is pretty close to the truth. The contacts of the lady in question deliberately chose a date of 30 years ago, so that the trail cannot be traced back to them. And of course it's impossible for me to prove that I wasn't in Thailand 30 years ago. Suppose I would have the entry reviewed by a court. What would happen? Thais would never admit that the judiciary in the promised land of Buddha is so corrupt that an arrest warrant can simply be planted on someone after the fact. Thailand is perfect and when in doubt, it's the foreigner's fault. Besides, I just don't think it's worth bothering with anymore. Once again it became clear to me that Thailand is unfortunately a banana republic in which you have absolutely no rights. And there are so many beautiful countries (Bali, Spain, ...) where you can live comfortably. It's certainly not perfect there either, and the countries have their own problems, but at least they're not thoroughly corrupt like Thailand. I don't care if someone believes me or not, that's up to you. In Thailand you can live very comfortably, there are wonderful people there and I begrudge everyone if they are happy here. For me personally it's just like that, after the experiences here I prefer other countries.
  2. As a warning, I want to share my long story of how a vengeful ex-girlfriend turned me into a criminal for immigration without having done anything wrong or even having been to Thailand. As I recently found out, immigration has an almost 30-year-old arrest warrant from 1994 in the file, although I was for the first time in Thailand ten years later (2004). Sounds absurd, but that's really how it happened. When I applied for an Elite Visa some time ago, it was rejected by immigration during the background check without giving any reason. So I hired a lawyer to find out what was going on. It came out that the visa was rejected because I had an arrest warrant from 1994 in my file. As I said, I was in Thailand for the first time in 2004. The contact person oft he lawyer was a former police chief and even he found the whole thing very mysterious and said he had never seen anything like it before. He could neither see what I should have done wrong because the case was too long ago or when this note was created. I lived in Thailand on an O/A visa in 2018 and 2019 and at that time there were not the slightest problems with the visa issuance. So this mysterious arrest warrant could not have been in my file at the time and was added later. And my only "criminal offense" during many vacations and two years of permanent residence in Thailand was once a fine for driving without a helmet. I can't even come up with a single overstay. It quickly became clear that someone had planted something on me in order to have me declared an undesirable person in Thailand. And that can only have been an ex-girlfriend because only she knew my personal data and had the appropriate contacts. Brothers and relatives worked for immigration or the police, and the daughter was a prospective judge at the time. So she definitely had the opportunity to pin something on me. Ironically, this lady was only a short brief online acquaintance that I saw once for three days at the end of 2019. But who was very bitter when I ended the long-distance relationship after returning to Europe and before the pandemic. The lawyer himself cannot make sense of this absurd story and advised me to appeal the arrest warrant in court. Which would mean for me to pay a lot of money for a process and that I would first have to make a day trip to the local embassy to have the signature for the objection notarized there! As things stand at the moment, I will do without it and simply remove Thailand from my list completely in the future. Of course, it annoys me that I have to change my future plans because of this lady and that she is successful. But my story shows all the hypocrisy in Thailand for me. On the one hand they always play the clean man (good guys in, bad guys out), on the other hand someone can just write you a completely fabricated 30-year-old arrest warrant in your file at immigration and nobody will notice. So where are the bad guys? I can not trust in such a banana republic anymore, where anyone with the appropriate contacts can accuse you of committing a crime and there is nothing you can do about it.
