Hi all,
Until now I've been an account-less, silent reader learning from your very helpful experiences. It's useful, thanks! But now I've created an account due to a pressing question that I have about payment of the 50k THB for the visa stamp. I've read from both @ThailandRyan and @BKKNono that payment can only be done by QR app banking. But how to pay if you'll arrive in Thailand on a (tourist) visa exemption? On a tourist visa I'm not eligible to open a Thai bank account, so how should I pay? I am mostly interested how BKKNono has managed to pay (since you also are granted a WFTP visa), did you already find a way to open a Thai bank account prior to visa issuance?
For those interested, my experience so far: I submitted all docs for a WFTP in the System, then was asked to upload some additional docs like additional tax returns & salary slips. I applied Sept 8th and got approval on Oct 3rd (yay!). I was then asked to submit additional info in the System, being my preferred visa pickup point, current and latest visa information, and health insurance. The bottleneck until now has been my visa information. Selecting OSS as pickup point, required me to fill in "current" and "latest" visa info. Since I won't arrive in Thailand until Oct 24th, for my "current" visa I filled in the from- and until-dates of the 45-day tourist visa exemption that I expect to receive on Oct 24. For the "latest" visa information, I filled in the details of my latest tourist visa exemption that I got during a one-day transit to Vietnam last September. Three days after submitting that, I got an email from BOI where they apologized for glitches in the System and requested to have further communication via email. They wanted a copy of my current visa, which as such I couldn't yet provide. They explained me that I could not make an appointment at the OSS until I arrived in Thailand and provided them with a photocopy of my current visa. For me that is rather unfortunate, because after I arrive the 24th I have a one-way flight to Chiang Mai 3 days later. By applying early Sept, I expected to be in a position where I could well in advance make an appointment with BOI within those 3 days. Unfortunately, BOI did not want/could not make a provisional appointment already, so now my hopes are that they will give me the final approval within 2 days after I arrive in BKK and that I can make an appointment the next day. I preferably don't fly back and forth for a 1-hour visa issuance session. However, if I do manage to make an appointment within that small timeframe, I don't want to be sent away because I cannot pay the 50k. I want to be well prepared, hence my question about payment.
I must say that BOI in this entire process has been very responsive to me, apart from the payment question. So I hope someone can help me out with that one!I already had a Kasikorn Thai bank account open few years ago.
I don't know if any other payment method is accepted (cash is definitely not) but it seems you will need a local Thai bank account if you want your LTR visa issued at BOI Chamchuri Square. There were 3 folks in front of me in the cashier queue paying for their visa fees, and all used their mobile phone banking app with QR code.

Good result.
Did you get any clarification if there would be any ongoing checking of your employment status during the 5 years?
It appears there isn't , BOI have indicated there isn't , the employment status is "at one point in time" validated for the initial application and again at the 5 year point.
But what happens in the case BOI decide to validate this, assuming someones employment status changes in that 5 year period?
The intent of the visa is for 'Working from Thailand' but it appears at face value, anyone who currently meets the qualifications can get the stamp, immediately stop working, but retain the 5 year (I know it's 10 but they validate at the 5 year point) visa.
They didn't tell me there will be any checks in between each 5-years period, but they will definitely re-check your qualifications before stamping the next 5 years.

I've got my LTR WFTP stamp this morning at BOI Chamchuri Square. Arrived at 9am and finished in less than an hour. Process was pretty much the same as described by @ThailandRyan, your BOI agent will give you the endorsement letter and escort you to the immigration office side with all your documents.
From there, you wait for the immigration officer to call you and will send you to another to counter pay the 50,000 THB fee by banking app QR code. A receipt is given by the cashier, you return to the waiting area and after few minutes the immigration officer calls you back with your passport stamped.

I was told I would be given the certificate at my appointment as it is needed at some point in the process, not sure where but maybe when I head to the Immigration side to get the passport entry stamped for the time period of 1 year. Like I said I will fill folks in later today. I can't believe that I will be the first one doing this here at the BOI One Stop Center, and wonder how there processing went.
Well I did this process on Sep 22nd and was told to go home... (Lesson learned from not calling them to confirm)
But if you have confirmed on the phone your appointment then it should be ok. I have confirmed mine for Tuesday and was told to just bring the TM94 / STM8 forms and 2 recent pictures + passport.

Thanks for the forms.
Will make appointment after i uploaded my updated insurance. Boi accidentally gave me the notification letter which they later retracted (i did downloaded it before they removed it)
I just think it is interesting that my 10 years visa started on my preapproval email and not when they issue the visa stamp nor when i submit my insurance. So clock is ticking i guess .
Agreed with @ThailandRyan , call BOI to confirm your appointment and what document(s) they want you to bring. Don't rely on the website as they still haven't fixed the glitches.

Well for private company it's clear that you have to provide something. But for companies listed on stock markets financial details are publicly available. It is very nice that your company provided that though. Are you still waiting for approval? Can you please share details later what is required for the work permit application?
Not sure about the work permit as I didn't apply for it, I had my approval for WFTP about 3 weeks ago. Others who have been approved may have more details about the WP requirements.

Have someone applied for the Work-from-Thailand-Professional category? What documents are needed if the company is publicly listed on the stock market - do we still need to provide something for "Audited corporate’s annual financial statement or financial report" or that is not required?
By the way the topic of this post is incorrect. It should be Long Term Resident Visa and not Retirement. It would be nice if moderators can change it because it is misleading.
I did and what I provided is a consolidated financial statement for the past 3 years signed off by our auditor (one of the Big Four accounting firm). My company is private though.

Finally could get someone on the phone this morning.
In summary, they're still having "IT system glitches" so apparently I can't book appointment online yet. After checking my case number, the BOI representative confirmed I've been approved on Sept 15th and "manually" booked my appointment for next week to affix the LTR visa sticker. Just need to bring 2 passport size pictures with white background and copy of my existing visa and last entry stamp.
My advise is whatever documents/letters you've been able to download on the LTR website after approval, best to double confirm directly with BOI on the phone, otherwise you may waste a trip to Chamchuri Square like I did.

Here is my timeline (and it's not very encouraging...):
- Requested pre-screening review on Aug 16th
- Received pre-screening reply "acceptable documents, go ahead with your application" on Aug 30th after asking for an update on the 29th.
- Applied on September 1st
- Received request on Sep 5th for passport picture and local Thai insurance certificate with the 50,000 USD coverage (I have local IPD for 2M Baht)
- Received 1st approval on Sep 15th.
- Managed to book an appointment via the website for the 22nd (all forms were in Thai asking for current visa in Thailand)
- Received a second approval email on Sep 21st (Same forms in Thai to book the appointment, booked again for the 22nd and downloaded Appointment Confirmation and Endorsement Letter).
- Here comes the fun part: The Booking Appointment confirmation and Endorsement Letter were having the wrong dates. I still went to BOI on Sep 22nd...
- A BOI representative brought someone from their IT team to explain me they're having a system glitch and I shouldn't have been able to book the appointment yet. Then I've been told they're not ready to affix the LTR visa yet and I should wait for an update 1 week later.
- Well it's been a long wait since then, no update, nothing, nada.
I understand it's a new visa, but designing a stable IT system should have been done ahead of the bells & whistles "Please apply we're ready!"

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

This year I "naively" submitted a P.D 91 for the overseas income remitted into Thailand. However the RD came back confirming as a LTR visa holder, overseas income is exempted from tax. Since the tax exemption for overseas income is written in the law (Royal Gazette Decree No 743), LTR visa holders are not concerned by the RD recent announcement...unless they amend the law.
