  1. Just plug a ethernet cable from your one port router to a port on the old router then you can use the other ethernet ports. Note you cannot use the ADSL port you’re only using this as a switch. The better way is to do as Astra says change the router you already have to the 3BB user name and password. Don't do this ! 2 routers on 1 network will make a ip conflict . You can do it but first have to turn of the DHCP of the TOT modem.

This is not quite correct. I have two adsl routers on my network. One is using TOT and the other 3BB. Just make sure the routers have different IP addresses. I do agree that only one router should have DHCP turned on.

So wat is not correct than ?

  3. Better keep it in the router mode because else other people in the condor have direct access to you pc. Important is that the 2 routers are not in the same range but u got that allready. Try to let the asus get a ip adres from the zyxel by renew it at the intnet settings if this does not work find out from what ip adres the dhcp start from the zyxel. If for sample it starts at 192.168.1.100 till 192.168.1.254 this means your can pick a static ip from 192.168.1.2 till 192.168.1.99 ( 192.168.1.1 will be the gateway i think ) Check in the zyxsel it there are no others using this static ip you like to use .

Than set this staic ip for sample:

    IP 192.168.1.3

    subnet 255.255.255.0

gateway 192.168.1.1 ( must be the ip your use to get in the zyxel )

dns ( same as gateway )

Let us know if it worked out.

    :D

  4. You can try to use OpenDNS, google that and you will get settings and anykind of support over there !

Have worked for me with TOT-adsl over longer time.

Thx Puuma but Google DNS (8.8.8.8) is much faster dan Open dns . Dit a DNS speed test and google is the fastest in Chiang Rai .

  5. Today the TOT engineers came for a check at my house.

They found noting wrong there and did a check from the line tot the nearest conection box.

When they came back they told they found some superfluous wires that where interupted by radio signals.

Later they also advised me to by a better modem from 10.000 thb . Laught about that of course.

Till now it seems to work ok .

  6. It is not only TOT..CAT also giving problem..I've changed my modem but it still happen..At night around 8pm+, the speed drops to 100kbps upload? It was 700kbps upload

Same here At some hours speed drops and sometimes the internet conection disconects . Will call TOT to let them check out what is wrong tried a other modem tonite but still the same problem.

seems like they short IP adreses or someting because i get a new ip adres everytime. and my old ip adress is than used by others than .

  7. I made a mod on my D link modem cos it was getting so hot . In Chiang Rai it is over 40 C . I made a hole in the body whit a smal cpu fan on it this works wel. But the disconecting problem i have now really comes from TOT . Think i will change to 3bb soon . Because The service from TOT is so bad !

  8. Does anyone else havinf problems whit there TOT ADSL conection in Chiang RAI .

Last week from april problems started here in Chiang Rai city . Conection is disconnected a lot problems seems fixed after a week but 3 days ago the same problems came back.

Tried a other modem the same problems , setup did not change .

I find out that using a other dns improve surfing a bit between te droping connections .

  9. Guy's

Just called to see the very nice man at the TOT office in town today,to enquire why my broadband speed is so slow, whilst i expected him to say you are so far out of town and you are at the end of the line story or you need to upgrade your bandwith, he hit me with a new one.

"It's because you leave your router on all day sir he said" you must turn off your router every day for at least an hour so it can acquire a new IP he added, during the conversation i did notice a very strong smell of BS coming from his direction, but can anyone throw anything into the pot to clarify :D ??

This is probably just the beginning of it!

I have TT&T and 8 weeks ago I started calling 1103 because Internet was slow in afternoons/evenings (but really fast in mornings until 2pm).

They sent a technichian and they said they had connected me "to another line".

After that it started to be really slow in the afternoons, so slow that it stopped completely many times.

I called again to 1103 and then they sent out new technicians that said it was the router. I needed a new router! Why the router was OK in the morning but not in the afternoon they could not answer.

So I got a new router from TT&T at Big C, only 100 baht.

Same problem, new call to 1103, new technicians and now they found that one line was not connected properly where the line goes into the house.

Same problem, new call to 1103, new technicians and now it was the software in the router that was old, they updated that and left.

Same problem, new call to 1103 and new technicians and now they say that I have the wrong packet, I must pay more and update to a packet that is special for farangs that wants to go on Internet outside Thailand!

So that is why the Internet works fine in the mornings until 2 pm but slow down after that!

So far I have seen at least 10 different technicians and the last couple of times I called 1103 I have said they dont need to send any technicians to the house, I dont want to see them. Just start up my Internet!

Anyone that got a special packet for farangs connecting outside Thailand ?

    :D :D :)

At 2 pm the internet shops open and the lazy boys get out of bed :D

  10. Thanks Guys for your help. I am at present in Aussie and they seem to be expensive so I will wait when I return in Aug and check out the places you have told me.

  11. Think you will get the green plates saw some cars whit green plates models not sold here

I just had a little birdy tell me there may be a way to import a car to Thailand

    Ex pat exemption for it

With this, you import it without duty

They give you a special tag & registration for it

Which prevents you from selling it there, Then you take it with you when you leave.

Has anyone Heard of this before? or is it Ho-ha

    Any Comment welcome

  12. Hi torrenova,

you'll not get a discount for an early payback of a leasing contract. You will need to pay the full amount, but that is always possible.

    Uwe

Sorry, perhaps I was not clear. We bought the truck 12 months ago on 4 year's finance (like HP). Due to the way they work out finance here, we owe 75% of the borrowed amount plus 75% of the total interest. I wondered if we paid off the 75% capital could we get a reduction on the outstanding interest ? If not then it makes no sense but if we could, then I might be interested.

Just ask your finance company ! Mine will give me a little discount if i pay all back in once but not expect much .

  13. I know a good builder and he knows some people that can help your whit drawing up your house but he does not speak english if that is no problem send me a pm

    Hello there !

I've just bought a 5 Rai land in Chiang Rai and would like to build a house (around 200 sqm on one floor) with reasonable good quality materials. I know this question has already been debated in this forum some years ago but I also understand that the costs for contruction have gone up over the past two years.

What I would like to understand is:

    - what are today the construction costs per sqm (and what this includes) ?

    - does anyone knows a good and reliable architect in Chiang Rai ? Can I find a list of them somewhere in the net ?

    - is there a good choice of reliable constructors in the region or one should go to Chiang Mai ?

Thanks in advance for the assistance

    Botti

  14. Family of me bought a house there also they just start to build it. ( hope they not need to go to court )

The house look nice there but the price is quite high for what u get. But for people who have no thais to help them to build there own place it looks ok.

The Project owner is also Dutch as most of the people that stay there.

    This is all i know.

So you're not making allegations, just spreading rumors?

No I am not spreading rumours, this is a fact. Just visit the first house (on the right) when entering Sanuk and ask this Dutch guy about his experiences. And what do you think about the house (built in 2007) for sale? The couple live only for 5 months overthere.....minor detail....

  15. Can anyone recommend a good cooking class/school in Chiang Rai besides the one at the Anantara? Thats the only one I've been able to find any information on, but I would prefer to do one that is less expensive and closer into town (we're staying at the Legend). I read someplace that the Wangcome offers one, but have not been able to find any additional details. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

There's an add for Thai cooking classes inside the night Bazar near a little bar which is next to the toilets. The girl speaks perfect english.

    This might help.

She also speaks dutch for the dutch and belgium under us. never did her cooking class so can't say anyting about that.

  16. Next month I plan to apply for a building permit for the house I plan to build end this year. Does anybody have experience whit applying for a building permit in Chiang Rai ? Also I looking for a good drawer for drawing up the plan for the house.

I ever applied a permit for a other house before and the staff from the office where you can apply the permit introduced me to a drawer that time, who made a total price from 7000 thb for a 400.000 thb house. That time I was thinking he was really asking to much and at the end I paid him only half of it, what resulted in a building permit that never got approved.

This time I want to build a 2 story ( 200 sq/m ) house for about 1 000 000 thb so I guess he will charge me around 15 000 thb this time that I better pay but any advice from other is always welcome before I go there again.
