  1. Thank goodness i am escaping Thailand in a couple of weeks. Pattaya has become little Moscow and now we will have the added bonus of hordes of spacially unaware Chinese tour groups yacking at the top of their voices and dressed like scarecrows. Apparently, Macau is back to 95% of precovid footfall levels. An experience i will never forget.
  2. They ain't been filled since June and that isn't about to get any better it's getting worse. Your friends in the tourist areas or resorts in Roi Et? Your posts lack any credibility? Sorry. I frequent daily the bars, restaurants and all types of hospitality here in Pattaya and the situation is quite dire.
  3. Oil prices are going up because your friend China has reopened. You know how supply and demand works? Thailand's hospitality can't get staff, it's a shambles as it is, what it will be like with 3 times as many people.
  4. Or they are just plain lazy. Just like they are plain stupid.
  5. I have been in Pattaya since June. I have never seen such a shortage of English speaking staff. I was asked by the manager of one of the best known sports pubs, if i knew of anyone to fill vacancies in the kitchen and serving staff. If this place, with it's decades of contacts, can't get the staff they want, then nobody can. Combine this with half truths when asked simple direct questions and the Thai loss of face and the service levels are dreadful. My hotel has a water pump issue and dear knows when it will be fixed. Supplier/contractor to hotel reception tell you a combination of half truths and lies. The place is a shambles.
  6. Garbage. Try openly bribing a traffic police officer in the UK or Europe and see how that goes. Why don't are resident Thai huggers just accept that Thailand is totally corrupt? 99%? Laughable. If in doubt, just try and bring the rest of the globe down to Thailand's level.
  7. You will now be delighted to know that the Chinese are scuttling round Pattaya in their droves. The tour groups arrive next month.
  8. It's called getting on with your life. Brits, Europeans and Yanks tend to be pretty good at that. It's only the terrified and hypochondriacs of Asia that seem to struggle with the concept. Not forgetting are merry band of expat pensioners on this board who wander down to the shops in a hazmat suit.
  9. I can hear the sound of straws being grasped. Dear, dear will the starry eyed dreamer "Thai beach lover", from the comfort of his basement in farangsville, never give up on his quest to defend the indefensible.
  10. Quite. The other fact many forget, the Thai to Thai sex trade is far bigger than the, so called, exploitation by foreigners.
  11. More liberal do goody nonsense from the clueless. I was exploited by a beautiful sex worker last Friday afternoon. After an enjoyable time together, she kindly showed me her Onlyfans site and invited me to forward any of my intimate photos of her. I would think she is making a fortune both through Thaifrendly and monitising her social media content. Good for her. The problem is their money being sent back home to be wasted and squandered by family. Some hit 30 years of age with nothing to show for it. The vast majority of the "exploited" get sent here by their family because they are <deleted> round the village for free. Highly promiscuous. Why go for free? Send them to Pattaya and at least they will earn when they go with a farang. The families are largely the exploiters, a fact that won't sit well with are resident Thai huggers on the board.
  12. Have you ever been to Thailand? Do you actually spend time there? I don't mean plane, Nam's Taxis, Soi Bukahow Hotel, Soi 6 and repeat for 2 weeks. Your naivety is astounding about Thai nepotism and corruption. Just keep ringing the bell on Soi 6, those bargirls really love you.
  13. There TAT figures. Full of TAT. I remember a senior TAT figure lying through his teeth on Sky last year that Thailand had fully opened up. When the interviewer pointed out all the hospitality restrictions, the TAT guy just smiled and said Thailand fully opened. The dogs on the street new he was talking BS. I am not an expat. Keep my assets in the UK and split my time between the UK and Thailand. I am astounded at the number of expats i have meet who wished they had never sold up and would love to split their time also.
  14. Most likely over 27 to avoid the draft. Thailand takes Chinese UnionPay and other cards no doubt. I would think Russians will have few obstacles to spending money in Thailand. Seems like flight prices are increasing again and oil is nudging up in price. China opening up demand may increase resource prices. For example, UK inflation is still high and the housing market is beginning to soften. Jolly jaunts to Thailand may not be a top priority for many Europeans.
