Sorry mate. You really need to catch up with the latest report not a report in December that you linked. This may help you and be updated.
    https://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/Chinas-Reopening-May-Not-Lead-To-A-Major-Jump-In-Oil-Prices.html

By the way, I am a business owner for last 20 years in Thailand. You know a few friends in the tourism business who experience staff shortages which is a short term issue. They are many unemployed and those shortages will be filled. Supply and demand.

Lastly please cut down you condescending tone.

They ain't been filled since June and that isn't about to get any better it's getting worse.

Your friends in the tourist areas or resorts in Roi Et?

    Your posts lack any credibility?

    Sorry.

I frequent daily the bars, restaurants and all types of hospitality here in Pattaya and the situation is quite dire.

Many laughed and poked fun at prediction of 10 million tourists last year and was made to eat humble pie. Bearing any major crisis in the likes of covid, 30 million tourists are achievable with pent up travelers and lowering of airfares as oil prices recede.

Oil prices are going up because your friend China has reopened.

You know how supply and demand works?

Thailand's hospitality can't get staff, it's a shambles as it is, what it will be like with 3 times as many people.

  3. I have been in Pattaya since June.

I have never seen such a shortage of English speaking staff.

I was asked by the manager of one of the best known sports pubs, if i knew of anyone to fill vacancies in the kitchen and serving staff.

If this place, with it's decades of contacts, can't get the staff they want, then nobody can.

Combine this with half truths when asked simple direct questions and the Thai loss of face and the service levels are dreadful.

My hotel has a water pump issue and dear knows when it will be fixed.

Supplier/contractor to hotel reception tell you a combination of half truths and lies.

    The place is a shambles.

The man should stick to running his monopoly of over processed junk food and leave healthcare to the professionals.

Mask mandates did not "kill" tourism. The limiting factor was the limited number of  aircraft seats, and common transit restrictions. Not going to get any visitors from China if China doesn't allow people to travel.

Once the outside travel restrictions were  lifted, tourism started to rebound. There was nothing Thailand could do in respect to the absence of Chinese and Indian tourists who were subject to  out of country travel restrictions.

You will now be delighted to know that the Chinese are scuttling round Pattaya in their droves.

The tour groups arrive next month.

Yes, the legislation clearly mentions "illegal". I've lived more than half my entire life in this country and am (not early) retired. I've seen the maidens serving Caucasians, Asians and then the majority of them serving local gentlemen in Café, Karaoke, Turkish Baths, "no hands" restaurants, Spas and not so traditional massage parlours. Due to my length of stay, can confirm that the next generation of "workers" have taken over the elder generation. So much to official; common sense prevails ???? And no, the legislation does also not suggest a nightly roll call ????

    Quite.

The other fact many forget, the Thai to Thai sex trade is far bigger than the, so called, exploitation by foreigners.

  6. More liberal do goody nonsense from the clueless.

I was exploited by a beautiful sex worker last Friday afternoon.

After an enjoyable time together, she kindly showed me her Onlyfans site and invited me to forward any of my intimate photos of her.

I would think she is making a fortune both through Thaifrendly and monitising her social media content.

    Good for her.

The problem is their money being sent back home to be wasted and squandered by family. Some hit 30 years of age with nothing to show for it.

The vast majority of the "exploited" get sent here by their family because they are <deleted> round the village for free. Highly promiscuous.

Why go for free? Send them to Pattaya and at least they will earn when they go with a farang.

The families are largely the exploiters, a fact that won't sit well with are resident Thai huggers on the board.

I get the impression we will still have Russians.....

    It isn't an impression, it's a fact.

They normally stick to Jomtein and Naklua but Central Pattaya is swarming with them.

I mean cannot walk in Central Festival Mall, without hearing a Russian accent.

    Same same Terminal 21.

Never seen anything like it, mainly young couples and young families.

    Pattaya is packed with Russians.

Er, is that because Thailand has more poor people or is it because their economic growth over the past two decades has created more wealthy people, you know, job creators and the like...asking for a friend.

In 2019 1% of Thailand owned 67% of it's wealth.

As for their "wealth creators", i think you mean the same families and clans, many with Chinese lineage.

    Nepotism at it's finest.

As one that lives in a country where IMO just about everything important is owned by foreigners I support the Thais 100%.

Why should foreigners be allowed to own anything in LOS anyway? If they want to they should become citizens.

Without that competition, product and service quality is always going to remain very low and the investment in people, virtually non-existent.

Competition isn't everything and the Thais have managed quite well so far. I'd rather live in LOS than in a western country which is all about greed profit over people.

Thailand has the greatest wealth inequality of any SE Asia country.

A tiny fraction of society own virtually everything.

Ask the Isaan slaves to their Bangkok masters about greed over profit.

I don't wear a mask, but there have been some incidents where I wish I had. I was in a 7Eleven the other night and an Indian lady was coughing up and down the isles. It was so bad I said to her if you're going to cough like that, you should wear a mask.

Could just as easily happen in a restaurant.

You going to ask her to mask up when she's eating or just tell her to leave the restaurant?

One of my favourite games is watching the terrified Asians coming into Jasmin's on Pattaya Klang.

I remember a group of 6 sitting at a table masked up until the food arrived and then they all removed their masks to breath, spit and possibly cough all over each other.

Luckily Mr Covid takes his lunch break while these people were eating.

You can run but you can't hide.

    It's laughable.

Its not always about yourself, its also about people knowingly having a very contagious virus and reducing the chance of spreading it to others who may be at risk while you are perhaps in the office or other enclosed spaces.

......and then bring the children and/or grandchildren to visit granny in the nursing home. Oops.

It has been accepted as just another circulating virus in the West.

That's why life has gone back to normal there.

    Covid? What's Covid.

You can attempt to stop mother nature by any ridiculous means you want but big bad Covid is going to get you anyway.

Surely what's happened with the reopening of China has taught you that.
