  1. Who knows?  lung cancer, emphysema, I'm not a real doctor, only online Google doctor.

Many people have moved out, of course.   I know if they get a certain room it will be too crazy.  One group of nut jobs put a table in the Soi (other end of the apartment complex) and would blast music and get drunk.   That room was doomed.   2 moved out from there already.

I only learned one thing in Thailand.   Rent a CORNER room, it's soooo much colder.  Sure, might be louder, but colder beat noise.   And never sign a long-term lease, things will get strange.

I'll be in a new place in May.    I can ONLY IMAGINE what will happen...

One "modern" apartment I rented was next to a shack where you could hear the people open the door and pee.   Great!!!!  I'm always on the top floor, but that place only meant second floor.

I honestly don't care because it's so cheap, and hopefully letting the expats know what MIGHT happen that will ruin your life!!!!!!   lol

  2. Thailand!!!!  This morning, chased by 5 soi dogs.  Almost hit by a motorbike, and eyes burning because of the pollution!!!!    But I did see a really pretty college girl doing the "walk of shame".   OMG, now it's super hot and I'm dying.  Aircon broke, and these walls are so poorly constructed.

I'm sure immigration will visit me today, wife will kick me out, and my 20 baht noodle soup lady will be closed!!!

    This is retirement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    hahahahahhahahahhahahahahahaha

Does Portugal have Pattaya?  NO.  END OF!!!!!

Of course but it's become ingrained in the Thai psyche that it's the teachers duty.

Many parents don't want to punish their kids because they are afraid their kids won't love tham if they do.

Further the parents are frightened that when they get old/very old their children won't take care of them / won't support them if they punish them when they are kids.

And unfortunately many parents still rely on their children's financial and other support when they are old.

Probably right.  I've seen so many mothers treat their SONS with a crazy amount of respect.  I also know a few 30 year old women still living with their parents.  Probably over 10, actually.  Maybe 10-years the worst violence against kids I saw was a female librarian against P1 to P6 students.  sickening.   Yup, I reported her to the police after I left the school, and the policeman went to the school and asked for their video recordings.  They didn't have any recordings, they said, and the policeman (a friend) told me he couldn't do anything more.   I shook my head and moved on....I joked about maybe interviewing the students.  No response.  Interviewing the teachers, nope.  Parents, nothing.   Yea, I gave up.

  4. Many people probably wanted to tell me, "Thailand??!!?!?  That's like the Wild Wild West and you never know what will happen!!!"

Yes, yes, I know, but I can get noodle soup for 20 baht and negotiate a gf for 200.   If I get shot over my noodle soup, well, hope I don't get a cleaning fee.

I used to think Thailand was safe, now I have to hear the name of the place first.   (Note:  BKK was never safe, but "safer" than other cities I guess).   It's not like Google or the news will cover crimes near those train tracks.

saw Denver the population seemed to all be homeless.

Must be tough in the winter, of course.   I wonder if feel warmer when you are high.   Also wonder how many from California.  This is another reason to avoid the city if not homeless, and go to a city if homeless.   Hawaii seems like an obvious choice, but might take a year to beg to get a one-way ticket.  still worth it, despite how expensive it is.  just guessing.

  6. I've been saying this for YEARS (different accounts, of course!! lol):

This violence towards kids is much more prevalent than you think.  Especially private schools, IMO.   Also, I've seen farangs hit kids.  Horrible humans.  Yes, I reported them all.  Nothing was ever done.

Before COVID (my last "teaching" job), government school employee teachers were afraid to hit kids.  FINALLY a change, because they knew they would lose their "job" of doing nothing and it's almost impossible to get fired.  I would send my kid to a gov't school before  a private school.

Oh, it's the culture!!!!  Discipline is good!!!  Well, if you have an IQ above 49 you would realize science has changed on human development and it's a horrible thing to do.  Oh, you only use your phone for Instagram??  Well, there you go, and you still remember your grandfather hitting you so it must be the right thing?   Can't fix stupid.

Plus a Thai teacher snitching on another Thai teacher is like seeing a unicorn.

If you are a parent, GO to the school and observe.  You will cry while driving home, knowing you failed your child.  lol.  I laugh because what did you really think?  Oh, it was inexpensive.  There you go!!!!

The Swiss man, however, has fled from Thailand.

OK, Thailand!!!!  Now's your chance to put this guy's name on the cover of a few papers and let global justice go to work!!!  Dude would be arrested in minutes.

Or....................or............................. nothing and he's back in Pattaya by Wednesday.

and this is the best they could come up with.... the girl next door is prettier that any of them

It's not JUST a beauty contest!!!!!!!   The "girl next door" is probably barely legal, can't read or write any language, had a job at 7-11 for 28 minutes, and plays ROV on her phone 23 hours a day.   However, the farang thinks he will her first love and get to control her forever!!!!   Miss Thailand is likely not able to be controlled by the dirty farang, so he gets very insecure and runs to his beer.

Na just deport them, they know what the laws is

There are laws, and there are farang laws!!!  Farang laws means take every satang they have in Thailand, take "their" house, send them home broke and name and shame until the end of time!!!!  LOS, where 99.94% of farang men lose everything but keep coming back for more.

  10. A tourist's bungee cord snapped and sent him plummeting into a lake.

The tourist from Hong Kong leapt from a height of ten storeys (stories!!!) while travelling in Pattaya

Mike told local media that he felt dizzy from the intense pain of the disastrous fall.

Doctors reportedly said he was "fine" and released him from their care with some painkillers.

    --------------

Bottom Line:  This is Thailand.  Safety?  NO.    Can he sue?  LOL.  Is he "fine"?  Of course not.

Every year there are these tourists who get badly injured in Thailand doing something that should be safety; however, in LOS, things go wrong.

Example:   Zip-line, Chiang Mai, Chinese, dead.

Just a reminder to all reading this and still active (under 80 years old, maybe there is one member):   Think before you jump.  lol

Fasting in two of the hottest months in Thailand must be tough, especially for those who will have to work. Relax and keep your air-conditioning on all day if you can.

I've been here about 10 zillion years and it still feels like being in an oven in the middle of the Sun while wearing Scottish wool (the greatest thing from the UK!!!!!, no not whisky you drunks)

Aircon is fine at times, of course, but I'm not a big fan of aircon all day.....chemicals!!!!  3 or 4 hours at a time is fine.

    "MUM"

MUM sounds like something like MUMMY, which is ridiculous and for babies.

Mother or Mom sounds much more professional, with an American flair perfected by the geniuses who took a really horrible language and turned it into an amazing linguistical phenominal.

    ebonics is next level great.

    Stupid attention seeking OP.

Who cares and why do you care what people here think?

Do you ask what color underwear you should wear with your pink socks?

This post is very attention seeking.

    You have gotten my attention!!!!

I think I will invite you to my birthday party!!!!!   You can entertain my 4 year old!!!!!  Your sense of humor is why LOS is so welcoming to us expats!!!!

Back to the OP, how dare he ask!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

You are asking him a question by asking him a question why he ever asks a question...

    I'm now totally confused!!!!!!!!!!

What will we do?  What will be our legacy??  I hope in 30-years this poster can NOT say, "I've been reading about this for 60+ years now."
