You are 100% correct. I've seen this mentioned many times by others and in my own experience have only had issues with female officers at embassies and visa extension offices. They can be super difficult.

I guess paranoia reading the countless posts on here and reddit of accounts of people being denied entry, granted mostly without visas, but some with valid visas. I was also questioned a bit last time I came in about why I like to visit so much but there were no problems, he just looked it over and stamped anyway. A valid visa still isn't a guarantee you'll get in as many point out.

Hello all. I have a large number of entries into Thailand over the past two years (since June 2022) using visas and exemptions each time, hence many passport stamps. Never had any issues with immigration however i am coming to the end of a 6 month Multiple entry visa, I have entered twice with it and plan to re-enter Thailand maybe 5 days before it runs out. My question is: Which airport is the best for entering with a questionable travel history in regards to immigration? I know the worst are probably Bkk and Don Mueng (did face a couple questions there on my last entry) but have heard that Chiang Mai and Phuket tend to be a bit kinder to travellers, facing less questioning and less chance of being denied entry (this is my biggest worry with my past history). At the moment I'm leaning towards Chiang Mai and will be flying there from Kuala Lumpur or Da Nang after spending 3 or so weeks out of Thailand on a visa run. Any other suggestions for airports are welcome, many thanks ....

Do you know if they accept savings accounts for the statement? Or does it have to be your current account? I have enough in savings accounts but no where near in my current account

It doesn't say it's just for the Chinese, it's changes to the thai e-visa website which anyone can use. Presumably they're aiming it at the Chinese to secure more tourism though

Yes this is what people told me. I'd have to provide 6 months proof of 5k or more in my bank. Like I said I find it strange they now only require proof of 60,000 thb and it doesn't specify for how many months, but maybe it genuinely is a push to attract more tourists?

Hi all I'm currently in the process of applying for a multi-entry tourist visa for Thailand via the Thai e-visa official website. I'm from the UK so it will be sent to the Thai embassy in London. I've applied for a few tourist visas before in previous years (admittedly never a METV just single), and noticed on the final page in the supporting documents section there has been some changes made. They only require 1-7 documents. Listed as follows: 1. Biodata page of passport or travel document 2. Photo taken within the last 6 months 3. Proof of accommodation in Thailand e.g accommodation bookings, invitation letter (of the first visit) 4. Travel booking confirmation (of the first visit) 5. A confirmation letter from employer, school, self assessment, pension statement 6. Financial evidence: amount of no less than 60,000 THB e.g bank statement, sponsorship letter 7. Document indicating current residency Is this normal for the METV? When previously applying for single entry tourist visas I had to sign a declaration and upload it, take a scan of my passport for travel history of the past year, upload a picture with me holding my passport and a few other things. I find it shocking that they've reduced the requirements as its very un-Thai (due to their love of paperwork). Let me know if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

An update for everyone interested: This evening I received an email saying my visa has been accepted ???? I can collect my passport from Monday. Obviously I'm over the moon. It's been a stressful few days and I don't know what i would have done if it had been rejected. But I understand I am bending the rules with all this and it's up to them if they accept me or not. They make the rules. Going forward I know I will have to find a better solution to this and find something more permanent. Any suggestions i would love to hear. Hi, yes the overwhelming response regarding the Hanoi consulate I have found after looking around on the internet and on here was positive. However most of these experiences occurred before around 3 years ago. Maybe before covid times. Since then it seems they've become a lot harsher and nitpicky. A good reflection of this is on the google reviews of the consulate. Before around 3 years ago many reviews were 5 star. Most of the recent reviews have been shocking. The point you made about individual immigrations officers is valid. They shouldn't be blamed for the vast set of rules they've been given to enforce. My main issue is with their manner. Many of them treat you with real contempt and make it abundantly clear you're not welcome. Again maybe this is not there fault and just how they've been conditioned by there superiors but to me you can deny someone something without being a [BLEEP] about it. I also would like to note I was not the only one who had a hard time, almost everyone else there was turned away or told to get more papers too.

Hi, So i had been in Thailand before covid yes, but that was on a previous passport so the only stamps will only show my recent entries. The past 7 months. On that note there must be a database with everyones entries in and out of a the country for someone digging a bit earlier within immigration I'm assuming? As for my girlfriend, I did not mention she was my 'girlfriend' as I thought this will raise eyebrows so I only mentioned her as a friend. Nothing else. Maybe they would assume girlfriend anyway who knows. Thanks for your support

Hi, so I flew to Hanoi yesterday and applied for the visa today. After two days of getting documents together and travel had the appointment today. The google reviews are right about the Thai embassy here. A complete <deleted>show really. Staff pretty rude and unhelpful (as expected) theres no organisation or directive on what to do and they kind of look at you like you're an inanimate object or something. Anyway documents I had to provide: Application form, passport photo, bank statement, flight in and out, hotel booking (for full two months, which i didn't have) proof of homeownership from my girlfriend as I'm staying with her too, her Thai ID, copy of my passport, full written itinerary of all my entire trip, letter from my employer in the UK and half a pound of my flesh. So after giving her everything she questioned me about why I've been to Thailand so many times why I want to go back what do I do there ect. She checked every document for absolutely ages. Then she wanted two more months of bank statements, an invitation letter from my girlfriend and payment receipts for both my inward and onward flights. After running around getting all that before 12pm they triple checked everything again (two of them this time) questioned me some more and then took my money and said they'll let me know in 3 days. So yeah a pretty stressful ordeal but its what you have to do if you're a frequent traveler to Thailand now it seems. I just hope they give me the visa after all that.

Yeah you're right they are definitely making it harder to enter if you're a regular. So what have you done going forward? Are you getting visas before now or still trying your luck with exemptions? There's no solid info on how many visas you're allowed in a year either.
