Girls were always cynical, many just don't bother  hiding it anymore

That might very well be; but in their trade a bit of hospitality wouldn't hurt - especially when you consider the prices. People prefer to get kissed before they get f. And by the way, that's a very basic business concept that is being applied everywhere. Imagine a restaurant doubling prices and at the same time telling you to go get your plate in the kitchen because why not and don't forget to leave a nice tip. Huh, what ?

  2. Forget it, it's a bad idea. The entire Thai bar / sex industry was based on cheap labor and weak currency. As Thailand develops, less and less people are willing to get exploited. As Thailand ages, young women are finding better opportunities in more traditional trades. Less attractive girls in the sex industry means better wages for those still in business and that translates into crappy prices for customers which in turn translates in less customers. Unless a miracle happens, the entire industry is headed towards a systemic crisis in the near future.

I wouldn't do business in Thailand but for those willing to, I'm pretty sure you got opportunities in producing goods and services for the growing middle class, get involved in sustainable tourism, or find a way to exploit the silver expat economy which is likely to grow. Pattaya is already some sort of geriatric cheap charlies stronghold.

I've never seen more girls on soi 6 than now and some better talent than in recent years.

    Quantity isn't quality.

If you wanna hang out with grannies and drink hustlers and pay a hefty price for essentially nothing, then yeah Pattaya 2023 is for you. But if you're look for bubbly girls that are actually good at entertaining men (not even talking about naughty stuff here)... Good luck. I'm not saying they don't exist but they are extremely rare. Girls have become extremely cynical in the way they work. And when you consider the number of bars in town, there is little hope that competition is gonna change anything to it. Btw Jomtien has a much better vib imo.

  4. The number of tourists is one thing. How much they spend is another.

In recent months, I've been to Pattaya, Jomtien, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai and a few other places. Everywhere many people relying on tourism to make a living are struggling big time. As long as inflation keeps destroying purchase power in the West, Thailand's tourism industry won't improve much. Leisure money is still very much a western thing.

  5. It popped into my head suddenly !

The place was called the Kitten Club

Maybe you're thinking of the Penthouse Hotel?

I just found their channel on Youtube and it was indeed located on ground floor @ Penthouse Hotel.

Does that place still exist ?

Pretty old vids (2011). More than 10 years already.

I'm wondering where all those dream girls are now...

Re-watching that makes me realize how much the girls have changed over the past decade. Makes me smile for some reason.

I remember seeing ads for a gogo that advertised rooms upstairs - rooms to stay in, like a guesthouse, but with, as you say, a jacuzzi, nice decor and a 'VIP' vibe...

Can't recall the name though ????

Thanks for that valuable addition  lol

I'm pretty sure it was something like "kittenhouse", "pussyclub" or something around those lines....

  7. Thailand's population is aging quickly.

At the same time the country has a high rate of informal work (around 55%) and a declining participation rate (currently around 65% I believe).

State support for elderly people is ridiculously low (something like 500 or 600THB/month).

Thailand currently ranks 3rd in Asia (after Japan and Korea) when it comes to working-age population.

What is the gov strategy to tackle that problem ?

Any ideas what the upcoming plans are regarding laws and regulations ?

I can't think of any bars or restaurants i miss, but i do miss some agogos on walking st which have either gone or gone downhill

    Sugar Baby

    Annabelles

    Crazyhouse

    Electric Blue

    Dollhouse

You seem to know agogos well.

I've been trying to remember the name of a place that I went to once 10 years ago. But my memories are too fuzzy.

It was a place where you had the gogo area downstairs and upstairs you had rooms with baths and things like that. As I remember it, it wasn't very big. It seems like they had some sort of VIP concept... I don't know, man. It's honestly driving me nuts.

They also had a Youtube channel with pretty good vids.

    Any ideas ?

  9. Hi there,

Got a few questions for those of you familiar with Laos.

    1) I'm getting an eVisa online. Where am I supposed to do with it once I get it? Is there a special place that I'm supposed to go to once I've reach the Laos border checkpoint? Or is it the same procedure as those asking for a visa on arrival? Any scam that I choose be aware of?

    2) On arrival I won't have Lao kips. Only Thai bahts. Will it do - at least to pay for a taxi/bus from the border to Vientiane? How much does it cost to go to Vientiane?

    3) Any bank you recommend for withdrawals? Is there any common mistake that I could likely make when withdrawing ?

    4) What would you say is the current best deal when it comes to mobile internet? Any provider known to be good at providing good connection at an affordable price? Where do I buy a SIM once I'm in Vientiane?

    5) What kind of public transportation do they have in Vientiane (if any) that is convenient to move around town? Is the Loca app (equivalent of Grab if I got that right) worth it?

    6) Is there a lot of theft when it comes to luggage when travelling by bus? Thailand is really super safe for that. How about Laos? Do you have to constantly keep an eye on your stuff?

Feel free to add any advice or thing that I should know.

Ok. Thank you so much !

  10. IQ seems to be pretty unevenly distributed on this forum. Sad.

Thanks to those of you who gave me a normal civilized answer. I appreciate it.

    As for the others... :passifier:

Anyway, I went to Wonderland yesterday and it was roughly the same cynical mindset. The nightlife fauna here is pretty oblivious to the concept of hospitality. Take as much money as possible, as fast as possible. Prices are up, service is down. Great, very sustainable way of doing business.

Pattaya was kind of the same really. Girls constantly bothering you for more drinks. Making sure you're enjoying yourself isn't important. What matters is to squeeze as many drinks as possible out of you as fast as possible. Ended up going to Jomtien. That area was nice. A bit like Hua Hin but less boring and more welcoming.

Anyway, I digress. Will try the Hilton area later this week and then move on.

    Thanks
