  1. So how about foreigners on a workpermit?
  2. There were 2 big ones. If correct a 7.7 and a 6.4 one. Within something like 15 minutes of each other. What's the logic that if 1 of them was felt, the other one not, that a 4.something can be felt over here?
  3. And everyone believes it. In my earlier posts I mentioned the problems with the news of an aftershock coming.... When I mentioned that was just not possible given the circumstances, they all looked at me like wtf are you? The news is the truth, we follow the news
  4. I think all that we can learn from this is that Thai people really, really need to practice survival skills. 2 things that stuck with me is that they put all the children in my school under a roof, because the sun was too hot, while they also had to evacuate the kids because of collapse risk. Second, they really need to focus on subjects like geography. Everyone was in panic because of that 'Aftershooooockkk👹👹👹' that never came, but was talked about in the news. There was a huge earthquake and a slightly smaller one 12 minutes apart. The first one was felt in Bangkok. Then many 4.~ earthquakes happened. But 3 hours later they were still talking about an aftershock that was coming. Without even doing proper research or having proper knowledge. I really hope Thai people will update their survival skills because when there's something much bigger than this, they'll be the first one who are gone.
  5. Everyone should change their mindset. It's beyond ridiculous. Schools may not fail students, students may not stay in the same grade for more than one year. Then you create lazy students. But if you do, you get in trouble with their overprotective parents. This is why schools don't do anything about it. If students underperform, they'll be labeled LD, ADHD, autistic, and they'll be sent to a doctor, who would be glad to prescribe them some medicine to make money. And when students come back to school, they can just do whatever and end up in the next grade anyway, just because of their label. Parents play a big role in this. They don't want to lose face, because oh no, it's my fault that my kid is lazy? Nono, we bring them to the doctor, because he/she is sick in their head. Just to avoid responsibility. It's terrible because they often are prescribed medicine that they don't even need. Besides this, schools also look better if everyone passes. They also avoid their responsibility. We are good teachers, the kid must be sick in their head. But they forget one thing, if students go from P1 to P6 year by year without studying or critical thinking, you'll end up with a bunch of students with P1 knowledge in P6 and so on in Matthayom. And parents are dumb enough to listen to schools and doctors. They can tell them anything and they'd believe it and do as they were told. But... Ofc, it's a mistake done by whomever made this ranking. Typical behavior same like the parents, avoid responsibility. How can this country get out of this. It's like a play that everyone knows everyone does, and they keep playing pretend somehow. It's insane.
  6. Many foreigners are tourist guides? What do they define as a tourist guide? If you have family or friends over, and show them around, will you get in trouble already?
  7. You don't hang out in traffic here too much, do you? From what I see, the majority who's being pulled over by the police is still mostly Thai. Instead of your whataboutism, how about just wearing a helmet so there's no reason to be pulled over.

  11. Imagine getting angry in this situation that you can't go to the bar in the middle of the week on a Wednesday 😂
  12. Why a 3 year prohibition if they may not hire foreign workers any time?
  13. A new day, a new foreigner misbehaving. Every morning I get at least one or 2 news updates about foreigners misbehaving. Can't they just let normal people in?
  14. And like usual, they happily go home, and leave the expats with the terrible stereotype and consequences.
  15. In Nonthaburi. It's usually pretty fast compared to what I've seen from others.
  16. As immigration offices are closed for walk ins, the point was whether this also will be the case for online applications. As I haven't experienced this yet, because I'm always on time, I didn't know. Couldn't really find any information on this anywhere.
  17. Same for me usually, Only this time a bit worried as the deadline falls in the weekend.
  18. On the 8th. A bit late as this time I forgot about it by accident. But as I checked the history, it has always been approved within 2 days max.
  19. What was the reason it got rejected, if you're ok to share? I had one time, I made a typo in my passport number and it seemed to be rejected almost instantly. Not sure if it's partly automated.
  20. As the title says, my question is, are online 90 day checks approved during weekends? I know immigration is closed during the weekends, but will the online requests still be handled? My deadline is on the 12th, that's this Sunday, and as of now, my status is still pending somehow. It usually takes 2 days for me, never longer, but this time, right when it might become a problem if they wait longer, they actually did wait longer...
  21. This was a good chance to use irrelephant
  22. You might assume there's at least someone in the bank who knows every detail of this. But that person doesn't provide any details about it and leaves everyone in the dark. The other day I saw some Q/A about this case, and all I got from it were very good Q's, but all the A's came down to: Just fill it in. Without any other information provided. If there's one thing I've learned in Thailand after 10 years it's: Do I really have to do it? Yes. Is it necessary? No. Should I do it? Up to you. Will it bring me trouble? Not really, maybe yes, maybe no.
  23. I think this is the reason you didn't receive a request to fill it in. Maybe it's just a case of whether your bank had a connection with an overseas bank or not? I need to do a good check whether I had or not. As far as I remember I haven't, other than being abroad once.
  24. You have to remember that this is Thailand, haha. They often assume things, because I'm a foreigner. But, I do remember traveling abroad this year, and getting money from an ATM. Could this have triggered them then?
