Tourists Ignore Police in Patong: Drag Locked Motorbike Through Streets

They'll go home, go on with their daily business, and expats living here will be left with the stereotype😭 -
K bank E-mail with Tax Forms attached ?
Joe32 replied to offset's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
And anyone any idea what exactly will be shared? As I'm really bad at tax stuff, can someone explain this to me as if I were 10 years old? I personally don't mind that something will be shared, but I at least would like to know what exactly, or else my personal information will be shared without my knowledge, which is something no one should be comfortable with. -

I actually think it's just like usual. Crackdown this, crackdown that, strict looking warnings, but no action in the end. When you just came to Thailand it's scary. Later it's just confusing, and in the end you're not even paying attention anymore. If this is nothing again, I'll enter that 3rd stage. I still hope for an answer from anyone. I have totally no adress or any income from abroad. I'm Dutch but living here for over 10 years. Would it really be necessary to do this? It seems strict, but not strict at the same time. It's inconvenient for me to go there and wait in line as I'm a busy person. Also don't trust sending it by email. -

I don't have a foreign address as I'm living here for +10 years. And I haven't worked abroad for that time as well. Any idea why I've got an email from them? -
K bank E-mail with Tax Forms attached ?
Joe32 replied to offset's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Me too actually. The only thing is that all the way at the end of the form they mention that if you don't do it, the bank will stop providing its service to you. They mention it all the way at the end of the form. However, what they say at the bank is not that strict actually. Not sure if it's just me, but always if something has to be done here, they make it as unclear as possible. -

Can anyone help me out here? I'm from the Netherlands, but living in Thailand for 10+ years. I haven't been back there since. I have almost no ties with the Netherlands anymore and all that I have is here in Thailand. Is this all really necessary to do? -

Sounds like a naked magician. But what if he won't disappear? Women and children are almost always around. -

Thailand Hikes Entrance Fees for Foreign Visitors at Historical Attractions
Joe32 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sorry to say, but they could be. I've seen foreigners, fully consciously, tipping 1k for something that was actually like 150 THB or so. -

If I would visit there, I would pay what they ask. If you're living somewhere almost longer than you've lived in your native country, and still need to pay the extra 'few measly THB' and singled out from your family, group of friends etc, you've to understand that that's bs -

Racist, yes, because my Asian (non Thai) friends can get in for the Thai price. If not racist, it's discrimination. However, I do understand to ask tourists a certain price. But I've been living here for 10+ years and able to read Thai. Plenty of times I've seen things such as: คนไทย๑๐บาท Foreigners 200 THB Tourists who don't know any Thai will just pay, but if you point it out in Thai and still get to hear to pay the foreign price, it's a smack in the face after so much effort from some people to be just like everyone else in Thailand. + expats also pay income tax. Last time I've read that the airport arrival tax is for everyone except who can prove to have lived here with a wp. Why not in these cases of national parks etc? -

Sometimes there's double pricing on food too. I'll watch someone filming herself eating on YouTube. It's not the same experience. -

Idea is good, however, it should be, the longer you stay, the closer it will get to the Thai price. -

How long are you living here? It's not about the money. It's about people who live here for about 10+ years, who have a family and all, then being singled out and made pay more. That's just ridiculous. Tourists, whatever, but expats should just pay like the Thai, or well, maybe at least a discount compared to the tourist prices. Easy to check, just show a wp. -
It's clear that FF already utterly destroyed them in this election. Almost the whole map was orange. So, good luck to them explaining how Thailand is democratic.

Biker’s road rage terrorising Bangkok family evokes societal concerns
Joe32 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Honking your horn is just a way of saying, look out, I'm here too. Weirdly enough people see it as being aggressive. It's weird though how motorcyclists here think that having your blinker on to turn left, actually means: Wow, how kind, he'll let me pass on the left! So many times I've experienced this. I'm just driving closer and closer to the sidewalk to make less and less space for them, sometimes I just turn left instantly. They always turn their head, looking at me as if I'm crazy, but my blinkers were on for about 20 seconds or so. Motorcyclists should maybe just get a tougher exam before they may go on the road. -

Extra class after school possible?
Joe32 replied to Joe32's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Was thinking about having my gf start a business maybe. That will be registered by the same name. Won't be looked in? I assume that even though it's much easier in the long run, I probably still have to give them the same amount of paperwork if not more. I'd like to do it the honest way, but not aure if they'll make the WP thing a problem???? They mostly don't, because, if I remember it right, they make less than 120,000 per year and therefore don't have to file taxes on that. Same here, but well... Lately you are seeing more and more about foreigners taking work away from Thai people and them stressing that you only may work the job that's in your WP. I really love Thailand, but sometimes immigration gives me unnecessary headaches. ???????? -
Extra class after school possible?
Joe32 replied to Joe32's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I understand, but if I ever want to get PR, they will need to see 2 or 3 years of what's happening with my bank. The big question is, will they complain about it? And if I make enough money to reach the yearly amount which forces me to provide my info for tax, won't I get in trouble when they see that it's not noted in my work permit? (please note that the current amount is still low, but with a bit of effort, it'll be an easy way to make a good amount of money, so I'll be sure if it will be possible, tricky or just not possible) I do not know any teacher who doesn't teach extra classes after school. Some even teach the children of police or someone at immigration lol. So, somehow it seems to be allowed, but like always in Thailand, the answers are either 'yes, but...', 'no, but....' or 'technically...'. -

Extra class after school possible?
Joe32 replied to Joe32's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Well, I'm actually teaching like this for a while already, but parents rather scan the QR code as that is much more convenient for them. As I'm looking for PR, I wonder if anyone would point it out at immigration. Thai people say it's just a side job and there won't be much trouble unless I make a certain amount per year + what I do can be interpreted as related to my current work as all these students are from my own classes at school, but the usual news of immigration being annoying over everything makes me worry. Thailand is great at making people confused over nothing ???? I will marry my gf somewhere this or next year and have been in Thailand for nearly 10 years. However, I see lots of really vague requirements for the PR based on marriage or family. Do any of you have any information what is needed exactly? I've seen that I need to provide 3 years of my bank information etc. How could I explain money coming in, other than the job that provided me with my work permit? If you have any information what's needed exactly for PR based on family or marriage, please let me know. I'd prefer to know from people having experience going through that process, because then it's a bit more clear than the usual list that you can Google. Nothing that's related to getting things done with immigration, you could google and get right instantly haha. -
Hello, Like the title says, am I allowed to teach extra classes after school? I do have a work permit and teach in a private school in Thailand. Parents ask me to teach their kids after school all the time and I was wondering if it's actually allowed. One more question.... If someone makes more and more money with tutoring, at what point should I keep track for tax etc? In the future I'd like to get permanent residency, so I wonder if this will be something they are looking at, going after or causes a problem. Laws and everything here is clear as mud, so I hope someone could provide me with more information here. Thanks in advance
