  1. Thanks for the "heads up" Jogden. Does anybody know if this new office is operational, or have a contact number.  I have a 90 day report next week which I would normally complete at Lopburi immigration. I have done a preliminary internet search with no success.

  2. Been reporting to Lopburi Immigration since it opened, never had a real problem yet! It does help to conform though, reasonably dressed, paperwork in order and more importantly a reasonable attitude. I usually call in on my way to pick up one of my children from school on a Friday afternoon, never found the waiting room to be overfull. Only ever a delay when somebody doesn't have the correct paperwork. I'm usually accompanied by my Thai wife, which helps a bit. Some examples of completion times:

Extension of Retirement visa, Max 40 mins, minimum 10 mins. 90 day report, Maximum 20 minutes, minimum 4 minutes.

Compared to the previous years when I had to extend in Bangkok, Lopburi is a pleasure to report to. Although having never left Thailand in 20 years and having changed my address only once in that time, I find the 90 day report a bit of a pain!

  3. It is possible to a apply for a single re-entry permit (1000 baht) for the 60 day permit to stay the visa allows. Unless they wanted to do at least 3 entries during the 60 days a multiple re-entry permit (3800 baht) would not practical.

Not sure waht you mean by the 3 strikes reference.

Other than needing a ticket out of the country within 30 days or arrival they could still possibley do their trip using 30 day visa exempt entries.

Thanks ubonjoe, I was referring to a Triple entry tourist visa and trying to ascertain whether it is possible to get re-entry permits within the duration of each segment of the triple entry visa without using up that segment before the end of the segments 60 day duration..

Yes, it is possible to do that.

    Thanks for the confirmation paz.

  5. Friends of mine, a British couple living in Bulgaria would like to take a tour of S.E.Asia based in Thailand. They are thinking of staying for a period of about 6 months, If they could get a triple entry tourist visa does that limit them to three departures/entries from/into Thailand. Would they lose one segment of the visa every time they leave Thailand or is there some kind of multi re-entry permit which would allow departure/re-entry within the life of each segment of the Triple entry visa?

Sounds complicated but I am just trying to confirm if it is a case of three strikes and you're out.

Obliged for any sensible help or suggestions.

  6. Two of my friends applied for Multi O visa based on marriage to a Thai, presented applications to KL embassy on Monday and were informed that they would not be granted a multi without 400.000 Baht in the bank. (Country of bank not stipulated). They both had 100,000 Baht in Thai banks and showed updated bank books. On returning on Tuesday they both had single entry stamps (3 months) in their passports.

  7. Is it the same draw for "thai government lottery" and "thai red cross lottery" ?

the tickets are similar and have the same link behind : www.glo.or.th

but the amounts are differents, 1st prize win 3 million for the red cross, while it's 2 millions for the thai government one

    I am confused...

also if I have the 2 tickets "attached" and I win the 1st prize, do I need to share with another people ? It seem there are several tickets with the same numbers... also confused...

why the people would pay 3,5 or 10 bahts to get the results while they are displayed for free on Internet ? It works because most of the thais don't have Internet at home ?

Same Lottery, each lottery ticket of the same number has an individual two digit number just to the left of the bar code; this is used for the two "Jackpots" of 30,000,000 and 20,000,000 respectively.

My Thai Brother-in-law bought two tickets of the same number, one was a normal Thai Gov ticket the other a Red Cross charity ticket. The Thai Gov ticket won the first prize "Jackpot" of 30,000,000 Baht plus the standard 4,000,000 baht ticket prize. 2,000,000 Baht on each half ticket. The Red cross ticket paid out 3,000,000 Baht on each half ticket, giving him a total of 40,000,000 Baht. Number of the tickets 222518, incorrectly reported in the newspapers as a 38,000,000 baht win. Collected winnings from the lottery Office in Bangkok, paid tax of (damn I've forgotten but I put the figure in a similar thread) approx 2%. Second win in this family of 8 brothers and sisters, total now 50,000,000 baht, you have to be innit to winnit!

  8. Extended my "Visa on the basis of retirement" yesterday, at Lopburi Immigration. No Queue (2pm), had my Thai wife and our daughter accompanying me.

    Presented my:

    Passport.

Bank book, Updated for that day.

Letter from bank confirming bank balance, dated that day.

Letter from British Embassy Bangkok, confirming my income; 3 days old.

House Book (Yellow Tabien Baan) as proof of address.

Completed form TM7 with photo glued to back.

    Signed Photo copies of:

Passport, including Information page, used Visa Pages and Arrival/Departure card (now in its 18th year).

    Bank book, Used pages.

    House book, used pages.

All the photo copies were retained. Bank book was checked to see if amount of money required to boost my income to 800,000 Baht had been in for 3 months. (I know this is not an official requirement, this office still checks; what would happen if that amount had not been there for that period is something I have no wish to discover).

Officer was friendly, efficient and pleased everything was prepared.

Also did my 90 day report, all completed within 20 minutes from/to carpark.

Time to relax for another year.

  9. Full Farang Friendly tips for playing lotto in Thailand http://www.gogoflori...ry-in-thailand/

A comphrehensive guide but fails to mention that the two top prizes which are 30,000,000 Baht plus the normal prize of 4,000,000 Baht.

The second Prize is 20.000,000 Baht plus normal 4,000,000 Baht (2,000,000 Baht for each half ticket)

These two Jackpot prizes can be won if the individual half ticket number (two digit number found to the left of your six digit number) matches the numbers drawn at the end of the lottery.

I am not an expert on the lottery, these are just observations from personal experience.

  10. I don't buy lottery tickets. They are a tax on the poor and stupid. But, from what I've seen, Asians like to gamble and too often with their lives and the lives of their passengers.

In the last couple of years my ex-poor and not so stupid eldest Brother-In-Law and eldest Sister-In-Law have won a combined 50,800,000 Baht.

Tax was 1%, My B-I-Law (for instance) bought two tickets, One of them won the "Jackpot" of 30,000,000 Baht plus 4,000,000 Baht normal prize money. The other ticket was one of the Charity tickets, these are normally sold "Bundled" with normal tickets. That paid out 6,000,000 Baht.

As to Gambling and Driving generalities, I expect Samran will probably have some input here!

  11. The building indicated on the map is the actual Police Station, Immigration is just to the right (as you look at it) and set back a little. As has been said, I have also always found the Staff to be very helpful.

    ...

Thank you, Nibor, for that information. I have moved the marker and should be grateful if you checked and let me know if it is now in front of the correct building, ie at the entrance door of the Lopburi immigration office.

    https://maps.google....fa4a9af0b9417b4

Do you drive into that compound from Thep Satri 1?

Unfortunately your link is now not showing any buildings in the compound, here's an old link you posted:

    http://maps.google.c...4,0.003406&z=18

I'm not to good with cutting and pasting but the link above should show the correct building, indicated by the green arrow. You can enter/exit via Thep Satri 1, however the main entrance is directly off the round-about.

P.S. I've checked it and that new link does now show the correct building.

As to getting there on public transport, there are lots of buses and mini buses traveling along route 1. As you enter Lopburi from the Saraburi direction it's the first round-about, get off as soon as the vehicle leaves the round-about; there are bus stops at that point.

  13. 17 years living here, my present Departure/Arrival card dates back to 1996. Thats the last time I left the country.

    Cyber visit TV everyday.

Hahaha i think a few posters missed this little gem! smile.gif so that's a wonderful 15 year O/S ,,,top banana to you.

I presume by O/S you mean overstay?

Why would having a departure card from 1996 mean you are on 15 years overstay? :whistling:

"present departure/arrival card" also the another clue "that the last time i left the country" but it was a humorous observation sorry if you are being picky rolleyes.gif

No mystery here, 1996 was the last time I entered Thailand. Since then I have had anual extensions of visa, departure/arrival card is kept stapled in my passport. After 16 years it is now getting a bit ragged around the edges, but then so am I.

  14. Signed, but not with a great deal of hope!

Here is something I've been pondering, perhaps someone out there can shed some light on it.

As a pensioner, if I were to return to the UK and resided there, then decided to return/move to Thailand. How long would the period of residence have to be, to retain the pension increase received as a result of my return to UK?

Or more simply, what period of time must pass before a tempory stay is considered permanent?

  15. I'm trying to find out, in the Phuket forum but with little success, what time one needs to be there by to renew a 5 years driver's permit?

    Anyone?

    Thanks

Don't know if this helps but in Saraburi I was told to be there before 9.30 am to be sure to get a place in the morning group, after that you were put in the afternoon sessions.

All Thais and Farangs had to go through the same procedures as in my earlier post.

    Goodluck.

    Nibor.

  16. I renewed my "Private Car" 5 year driving licence last month, a week after my Birthday. Saraburi required:

Passport and copy of info and current visa pages.

    Health certificate from local hospital/clinic.

Statement of residence with photo attached and stamped (In my case from Lopburi Immigration, 500 Baht each statement, issued immediately).

    Old driving licence.

I then had to re-sit the colour eye tests.

    re-sit the depth perception test.

re-sit the speed of reactions test.

and sit through a 45 minute video presentation of correct driving procedures, in Thai!!

Only after the video presentation were we photographed and our new plastic licence rolled off the printer immediately.

(Five years before, same place, I just rolled up with my old licence, passport and letter from British Embassy and received a Licence almost straight away).

The Licence issued is valid for the next 6 years, taking me up to my 72nd Birthday.

I took the opportunity to get two Statements of residence from immigration and used one to apply for and get my Yellow Tabien Baan (Housebook), so that I don't need to get the statement of residence again for future applications etc.

Looks like each department is using it's own interpretation of the rules (as usual?), so it may be worth checking what your local office requires in advance.

    Regards Nibor.
