  1. I just saw a post on Facebook which claimed that Hua Hin Immigration will move to a huge new office on Tabtai Rd,Nong Khon and next to the Smart House Village1.

The post said this will become the new provinicial Immigration HQ.

I've no idea if this is true. Anyone else heard anything?

Here are some photos of the construction of the new building which will be ready on November 2016

  2. Hi

Where would a farang apply for a marriage or retirement extension if they live in Nakon Nayok?

Does Nakon Nayok have its own immigration office or would you have to go to Bangkok?

Also when applying for a marriage or retirement ext do you need to apply in the province where you live or could you do it in say Udon Thani, or some other province that you happened to be visiting in a couple of weeks?

    Thanks

  3. JHolmesJr, I think you've kind of hit the nail on the head. That's been my suspicion for a while.

Before I moved here I lived in Singapore where finding and dating attractive women was extremely easy, but perhaps I'm too nerdy for Thai women.

I assume the hi-so girls are less interested in the bad boy type; am I wrong on that?

Thai women don't care if you're nerdy, most of them wouldn't be able to tell if this was the case or not.

You're 35, right? And herein lies the problem.

From what I can see most Thai women have a real thing for western men twice their age and three times their size.

Sounds to me like you're not what most of them are looking for.

  4. Yes, I would agree.

Just out of my fairly small social circle, there are 5 friends/acquaintances who have left Thailand. Two were here on ED visas and couldn't get them renewed. One was a guy who had lived in Thailand on tourist visas for years and the other two were teachers who didn't have degrees (and who were also on here on tourist visas).

Thailand has made it quite clear it isn't interested in foreigners staying here long term. It wants the two week holiday maker now.

  5. There is a lot of miss information here.

A foreigner setting up a company for the purpose of buying a house is illegal. No two ways about it.

Foreigners can own any property in Thailand 100% in their name, they just can't own the land it sits on.

Therefore, buy the house, put it in your name and set up a usufruct to give you as much security as a foreigner can get when 'buying' property here.

If you're still worried - rent.

The other issue with going down the company route for buying property is that it is likely you will have no idea who the Thai shareholders are of 'your' company. It's a mess. There was recently a BBC video report posted on here about a guy who went down this route to buy houses in Phuket and seriously screwed over. Why put yourself at risk?

The govt have already started cracking down on a similar practice regarding foreigners who zig zag the rules to 'own' businesses in Thailand. It is only matter of time before this loophole of setting up companies to buy houses in closed too, in my opinion.

  6. In some parts Hua Hin there are always problems due to a lack of water as the province receives such little rainfall.

But this week we were told our communal pool is out of action due to a lack of water.

I dont want to think how bad it will be come April when it starts to get really hot.

What about when it's Songkran and they start with the water fights?
