  1. There is no income requirement for the DTV. The priority is the 500K THB in a bank which shows you can live comfortably for 6 -12 months.
  2. A tiny step in the right direction. Will need to decrease considerably the actual visa cost to really beef up the Elite visa holder figures.
  3. Malaysia has a lot of complaints in various FB groups on the DTV process there. Vientiane, PP easier. Jakarta and Taipei are great choices also. Taipei same day approval with docs submitted in the morning. Malaysia requires bank statements stamped by your relative embassy, not needed for other SE Asian Thai embassies.
  4. On FB Thai DTV/Visa sites i have read reports of success as online traders.
  5. Very true , Dec is the 6mth mark and when reality will set in for many.
  6. They are not free, free. There are substantial costs involved. I live in Tokyo, and this is a regular topic of discussion. You can get some good bargains but free is not really free.
  7. Those houses require major works plus there is substsntial land, house taxes which ends up totalling at least 10x orignal price.
  8. Do you know anyone who has been successful getting a DTV in Laos and Cambodia?
  9. By email. The contact form should work too.
  10. I contacted the Thai Embassy in Vientiane, last weekend. They informed me non-residents can apply for the DTV. Need to book an appointment online, bring required docs and completed application form, 10K THB cash only. Approval given in 2 days except for the day of submission.
  11. Yes it is, i live in Toyko but still have a UK bank account and have paid for my trip to Thailand next month in GBP, as the rate is much more favourable than the JPY. A lot of foreign residents in Japan doing similar.
  12. Official statements by June 1st. Should be in the next couple of days.
