I believe those who were not contracted out of the "serps" additional pension scheme receive additional money
And before that the graduated scheme. And after serps was S2P.
Its a pretty complex history despite its seemingly simple definition.

???????????
I am merely pointing out that the post implies that the writer's "pension" (Singular - implying State Pension") has just gone up to £14,500.
The full State Pension is £221.40 per week which comes to = £11,500 app., so where does the £3000 discrepancy come from?
Its not a discrepancy. I just explained why. Can't you read??

''..............my pension is just gone up to £14,500"
I suspect that that is not the basic State Pension which is £221.40 per week which comes to = £11,500 app.
Are you in receipt of an additional (Works?) pension, or other pensions?
Thats not how the state pension works. You don't take the 2024 maximum and apply it to everyone who's been in payment for 20 years!

Yeah best you go home. You clearly dont like sun sea swimming whatsoever so on that basis I wouldnt drop anchor in Pattaya either if I didnt
As it is I love it and after 32 years havent caught any diseases or skin cancer just yet
You clearly want to find fault so why stay. Am sure the Maldives will welcome you with open arms
Whats wrong with finding fault with the points you made.
Why so defensive?
I like cities more than beach areas. So an easy solution.
Mainly though its the tourists and expats in pattaya i'm not thrilled about. Plus their age range.

No idea lol but anyone who claims to be bored in Pattaya has a screw loose
I cannot imagine another place in the world where everything is on tap starting (not with the obvious) but sun sea swmming cheap accomodation whether hotels or condos golf shopping Gyms galore malls galore and every other type of activity thats humanly possible and yet I can stilll end with the obvious one as well !
.....and if you dont indulge too much all the rest above are dirt cheap in comparison
How can anyone young or old be bored !
Do you live in pattaya?
Sun is bad for your skin.
I wouldn't go near the sea of course.
Cheap accommodation is not a hobby or pastime???
The gyms are spoiled by the skanky people pattaya attracts.
There are 2 malls worth visiting.
Been here nearly 2 years. Finding it a bit boring now.

That takes a bit more investment than basic retirement visa. Not really for the CC, though definitely an option. Although if can qualify for that, then a retirement visa should be easy, if old enough. Just the membership (for 5 year one) is more than the 800k required for ret. visa.
Education visa doesn't allow you to stay 365 days a year, does it ? I wouldn't consider the need to attend school a retirement dream.
The vid is about retirement ? So basically BS ... IMHO
Love my daughter, but couldn't wait for her to finish high school, so I was free to 'retire' all year, and travel at will, instead of just 3 months a year.
That and the ability to leave Udon Thani. Retirement to me, is freedom to do whatever, whenever. Not tied to a schedule.
After I divorced my 1st Thai wife, shortly after arriving @ 46 yrs old, I would have had to leave without my village orphan (daughter) and support of Thai national visa/ext of. Held me over for couple years till I turned 50.
Didn't investigate any other visa options, since not needing to.
Have a mate who uses ed visa's. He doesn’t study, its just a blag to live here. Mainly for the <50's. Said he knows guys who have been doing them for years. He has to do a border run once per year i think.
As for budget, i spend far less than i thought i would. But i'm not funding a girls lifestyle and no desire to accumulate stuff of value either. I could live here incredibly cheap if i had too (i think i do 555) - folks love to nitpick over statements like this. But but but ...what about that triple heart bypass etc etc.

Elite.
But neither do education visa's.

Reading comprehension ... didn't state you can't 'live' here on less.
The vid is very misleading BS ...
What visa would you qualify ? No sense in talking about how inexpensive you can live on, if you can't qualify for a visa.
To live inexpensively here, you'd have to plop ฿400k or ฿800k in the bank to qualify for a visa. ฿35k a month doesn't even qualify for a marriage visa.
I easily live on ฿10-15k a month, and I enjoy Thai food, thank you.
My visa has no qualifications. No capital or income requirements at all.

I'm 49 and very healthy.
Keep +1.5m in the thai bank. Bangkok bank app has a 'quick display' feature without a pin code. My plan would be to show the balance to demonstrate i have a deposit.
+10m in cash is quickly accessible from western account.

Congleton is an affluent area. I used to live nearby. Its also a
Little IT hub, so no doubt her partner will be an IT remote worker.
£100k minimum earnings for him, if they live around there as a family.

Oh dear, dunno. About two years I guess, maybe three...
You may have had a refund of your contributions and therefore no accrued service.
Whilst this rule is not applied in recent times for public sector schemes, historically it may have been.

Many years ago I worked for this entity, which no longer exists. I still wonder if they have a pension fund in my name, but various attempts to contact various organisations have come up with 'no record'. Does anybody have a suggestion as to where I might apply?
Thanks.
How many years membership in the scheme? ...possibly less than 2?

In the UK i have a 6% 1 year term deposit maturing soon.
New rate about 4.5%
Got too much already invested in the markets so i'll probably stick with declining interest rates. By no means ideal.

What's your blood test results like on that diet and no exercise? probably still good but maybe not everything
I had a few tests done in UK a few years back. A free over 40's program available through your local GP. No issues but i'm sure only the basics.
I should get a full check, its a good point!

That diet will work well, high carb low fat most days
I'm pretty lazy, virtually no cardio exercise (unlike yourself, i believe).
One little hack i have adopted is swap out 50% of the rice with lots of tomatoes.
Its taken a bit of time to find my calorie neutral point just by looking at food. But the talk of unhealthy thai food is nonsense, as you already know.

In the (almost) 2 years i've been here...
Meiji milk, 2 litres, was 85b now 99b.
Mcgarret rolled oats, 45b now 56b.
10 eggs are 69b in villa. Can't remember before price. But up i'm sure.
Bananas went up quick, then down, now up again?? ...130b for a bunch of 14.
But in the same timeframe, since the day i arrived here and after 2 years costs and expensive visa, i'm about 12m baht up. GBP to THB up lately, but when gbp weakens when uk interest rates drop my domestic uk funds will go up nicely. Bases are covered!

I eat rice or noodles 5 times per week. Milk, sugar, bananas, oats ...every day. Pizza, burgers, beer ...at weekends. I eat everything.
25 years of looking this great. My ability for consistency is off the scale.

It is lost on you. You don't understand. You think the maximum anyone's state pension can be is £221 a week. Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!
