That may be the best option. Having dogs and needing a yard makes it such a pain in the neck. I would gladly just rent in the city if not for that. I will probably need to be like 45 minutes away because of traffic, not distance which is kind of annoying but acceptable.

Vietnam does look great but yea, the visa situation is bad for me. It will be Thailand, Philippines, or just moving way further out from cities in the US.

Would I be better off in Hua Hin? Chiang Mai when the air is good would be my dream location, but having to move out every year during smoke season is just too much of a hassle to deal with every year.

I have read it is one of the more expensive places to live in Thailand. How much more expensive is Phuket than a place like Jomtien or Hua Hin? Is it even more than Bangkok?

You are making the Philippines sound better and better. I don’t want a transactional nightmare relationship. A traditional woman who wants to be a mother has to exist somewhere.

I have a week in Philippines and up to a month in Thailand so I should be able to make a pretty decent assessment of which will be better for me. I hope Thailand works because everything is nicer when it comes to hospitals, food, and infrastructure, but it won’t really matter if I’m a bad fit with the people. Very exciting trip coming up 😎

If it wasn’t for these dogs needing a yard I would be doing Bangkok anyway. I wonder how far out I would need to be for a 2 bedroom house with a yard to rent.
