  1. I’m not a sex obsessed coomer. I would like to find the mother to my future children since women in the West have stopped breeding or only have maybe 1 kid after 30. I’m truly not trying to crap all over the sex industry, and I don’t care if people take part. I personally hate it and want nothing to do with it though.
  2. Definitely won’t be paying a salary. I plan on meeting someone in person.
  3. Conventional is exactly what I’m looking for. I would only ever be with one girl at a time. I’m very into monogamy. If it is like this where the sex trade stuff is more of a minor part of the overall city, that makes me definitely want to check it out. There seems to be so much there otherwise that I would really enjoy, and all within close range to Bangkok. I think I will give Jomtien a go. The high English ability there matters a lot to me since the person I will be potentially moving with is almost certainly not going to learn Thai. I am going to go ahead and start working on it though.
  4. I’m in my 30s and that situation is exactly what I want to avoid
  5. I’ve heard to avoid Pattaya for finding long term relationships because of the bar girls and general sexpat culture of the city. I have zero interest in anything related to this. Is Jomtien going to also be a bad choice for finding a potential long term relationship/wife as well due to its proximity to Pattaya? Would I be better off going to somewhere like Phuket or Hua Hin? I don’t drink so bars in general aren’t going to be of any appeal. My main interest in the general Pattaya area is the number of restaurants, quality hospitals, cost of living, and not getting obliterated by smoke season.
  6. Is English going to be more widely spoken in a place like Hua Hin or Pattaya/Jomtien than in Udon Thani?
  7. This isn’t meant to be a which city is better overall post. These three aspects are really important to my retirement, but especially healthcare quality. Is Bacolod or Iloilo known for better hospitals/healthcare? I’ve heard great things about the food in both cities so I’m guessing it may just come down to preference, but I would love to hear your opinions. Not just local specialties but access to Western options as well. Is one city considered safer than the other when it comes to crime? This one I’m not quite as worried about but still interested. The healthcare comparison is where I’m really coming up short on info when I search online.
  8. Is air quality worse in dry season across all of Thailand or is Chiang Mai particularly worse during dry season as well (not including burning season)
  9. Where in Thailand can I live that has good air or at least acceptable year around? I was going to visit Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, and Udon Thani but it sounds like pollution is an issue everywhere I’m interested in
  10. Thanks so much. This is exactly what I was looking for
  11. Is the pollution manageable for most of the year? Smoke season is usually only like 2.5-3 months or so, right?
  12. You are such a hero. Can’t wait to be away from attitudes like this forever.
  13. Maybe that would be a better idea. Focus on the cities that would make it easiest to get acquainted with Thailand and the most likely first place I would live. I will probably check Hua Hin as well as an escape from smoke season spot so land in BKK, go to Hua Hin for like 2 days, go back to BKK to fly to Chiang Mai, then fly to Udon Thani.
  14. I moved back to the eastern half of the US but I was in Colorado Springs
  15. How dry is Isaan? I had to move away from Colorado because it was so bone dry. It made me constantly have to clear my throat. I missed trees and green a lot. Water shortages scare me to death if that makes a difference.
  16. Ok I think I'm going to do CM->Chiang Rai->Udon->Nong Khai->KK
  17. Ubon didn't look great to me in videos so that one not being mentioned much here either makes it easier to eliminate from my list. Udon will be my first go to and I will check Nong Khai since it is so close and sounds nice. I only have 2 weeks on my upcoming trip and Chiang Mai will also be checked out. Out of Kohn Kaen, Korat, and Buriram, which would you say is the most English friendly? I want one more on my list to check out.
  18. I'm hoping to find a long term relationship. Pattaya feels like a bad choice for this, especially with the high concentration of other farangs as competition as well as the reputation that may come along with being a farang there. Chiang Mai looks great to me as well. Pretty much all I care about in a city is good food with access to good healthcare and the ability to speak to the Thais there to make some homies. Growing up rural I think is what has attracted me to Isaan girls. I like country girls in general.
  19. Thanks for all the replies. Is healthcare decent in all these places or are the "big four" going to be best for that? Udon is sounding pretty good for English as well as access to Western restaurants if farangs are there. Is it possible to stay through smoke season in a place like Chiang Mai or is it as bad as they say?
  20. How is Khorat and Nong Khai English wise? Would you say Udon and Khon Kaen are the most English speaking of the 6 total I mentioned?
  21. I have no interest in bar girls or anything offered in Pattaya other than food maybe. I understand there are Isaan girls in a lot of the bars there but that isn't what I'm looking for.
  22. I'm potentially moving to Thailand in the coming years and Isaan girls sound lovely to be around. I grew up in rural USA so Isaan has caught my interest (I will probably live just outside the city). I've been looking between the big four cities of Isaan (Udon Thani, KK, Korat, and Ubon Ratchatani) as well as Buriram and Nong Khai. Out of these which would be the best for an English only speaker? Having some of the signage or menus with English would be a huge help as well as some English ability amongst the people who live there. Which of these should I probably avoid as far as lack of English goes? Thanks a bunch for any input.
