  1. Are they betting on the grey economy or on the chinese ? Who are they trying to sale to primarily ?
  2. A mix of price, reliability and speed. Both Mullvad and Proton offer great value for money, top-notch security features and are very fast. I'm currently using Mullvad because it costs only 5€/m (flat rate) and recently added a protection against quantum attacks on their Wireguard servers but frankly if you want an all-in-one offer (vpn, encrypted mail, encrypted cloud, etc...), Proton would probably be a better option. As for my experience with the 3 you mentioned. I've been with ExpressVPN and NordVPN. ExpressVPN is too expensive for what it has to offer and NordVPN has pretty average performances and is too big for its own good. Just my opinion though.
  3. Mullvad or Proton are the two best VPNs out there.
  4. Doesn't really matter. Farangs tend to figure out how to find girls before they figure out how to say hello in Thai.
  5. I thought you said you were realistic ? PS: your post is obviously a troll. A guy speaking fluent Thai would ask a dumb question like that otherwise.
  6. If you're into naughty things, Phom Penh is supposed to be the new mecca of boom boom. Otherwise you should go to Vietnam as soon as the raining season is over. It's honestly pretty good and people there are more straight forward than Thais.
  7. Obviously you haven't been in any of those countries recently. Malaysia being muslim is completely irrelevant. Many young westerners in Penang, in the Cameron highlands and down in KL. Beautiful nature, great food and amazing mix of cultures. I was there last year during a big indian festival. Absolutely amazing. Hindous have the most amazing religious events seriously. Laos is the best place I've been for nature. Vang Vieng and its mountains are incredible. Many young people there too, especially western girls who seem to have a thing for Laos for some reason. Vietnam is essentially free to access for most - if not all - westerners for 45 days. Great country, great food, beautiful beaches and mountains (the Da Nang area is a unique mix of both). Many young westerners here too. No wonder: everything is cheap even fancy hotels.
  8. It depends. A month ago I was in Laos. Room was 300000K on Agoda ans 200000K directly with the hotel. When I asked why, they say we had Agoda's commission to our price.
  9. Take my word for it. The tourist sector is gonna be wiped out once more very soon. Thailand has become too expensive for what it has to offer and to restrictive as well. Vietnam is offering the exact same kind of experience and is more competitive on prices as well as more welcoming (45 days exemptions and 3 month tourism visas - both can be renew over and over again).
  10. Agoda has always been a dodgy company with unethical practices. Just go on Google maps, look at your chosen area, filter by hotel, look the review, contact the hotel directly and book.
  11. It was and still is very stupid but don't worry: young travelers don't give a rat's ass. They have many many other options in the region. Like Vietnam which is cheaper, super friendly, not morally bankrupted and offers unlimited 45 days exemptions as well as unlimited 3 months tourist visas. I've been all over the place for the last year and a half. Meant many backpackers in Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam... They are very happy, women like it much better when woes ain't around. It's all fine and dandy. As for Thailand, the arrogance will pass as they realize that tough competition is underway in the tourist industry.
