  1. Hi Gaccha, thanks for the reply and yes, the table says this: If your parents were born on or after 1 January 1983 - evidence of your grandparents’ claim to British nationality by providing their birth certificates and, in the case of grandfathers, the marriage certificate to your grandmother. However I cannot provide my child's British grandfather's birth certificate as he left me when I was a baby and I don't know any of his family's details so I can't order his birth certificate, he also changed his name when he was a teen and I don't know the name he was born with. Anyway I ended up ringing HMPO in the end and they confirmed just need to write a separate letter with as much info as possible of my parents, full name, date of marriage, divorce, name changes etc. And they should be able to verify and if they can't, they'll contact me to send in my mother's birth certificate etc. But they said it rarely ever happens unless there is a big red flag and in my case should be fine.
  2. Hi Brewster, thanks for the reply. This is currently my plan, but my father changed his name via deed poll when he was a child I think and I can't find out properly because we've had no contact since I was a baby. I know his old name so should be able to order his birth certificate but no idea about the deed poll. His surname now and my surname are the same on their marriage certificate and my birth certificate tho Do you think I could just send in my mum's birth certificate and their marriage certificate as well and it'd be enough?
  3. I am about to apply for my 2 year old son (and going to apply for my soon to be born son when he is born in Months) and I have all of the relevant documents but I've noticed this that I have no came across online until today. If the father (British Citizen) of the child was born after 01/01/1983 you will also have to supply' Copy of his mothers and fathers birth certificates Copy of his parents marriage certificate I have my full-length birth certificate with my parents' birth and all the other docs required. But I do not have my parents' birth certificates, does anyone know if they are needed if the parent is born after 1983. I'm not sure I will have access to my fathers' birth certificate if so. Which is worrying me. Thanks for your help
