  1. Anybody ever taken a boat across the Mae Kuang reservoir. My map indicates a small road on the other side of the reservoir linking back up to the 1001 road, is this possible to go by bicycle? I headed out there today taking a single track up to the rim, seemed very desolate, road on the rim of the reservoir petered out while in the other direction it was closed off with barbed wire. Anybody got info?

  2. There are some music schools dotted around Chiang Mai, presumably these will offer piano lessons.

One to the East of the small park inside the South-West corner of the moat, has pianos.

  3. There is something called the Great Guardian Investigation Service marked on my map. Where Mahidol Road meets Charoen Rat, about 1 km south of (what was) the Sheraton.

Sounds like a rent-a-kojak sort of place :o

  4. I've walked up during the day, from Huay Kaew Waterfall via the dirt path to Pha Ngerb, and then back onto the main road and follow the road the rest of the way. It took me 2 1/2 or 3 hours from start to finish. Nowhere to buy water when I went up, but I'm sure there will be stalls dotting the road at the festival. Although I thought at the festival they arrive shortly before dawn?? I think they will also go at a slow pace.

Yep it is all uphill and I'm sure you'll love the 300 odd steps at the finish :o

  5. You can get a Spot rewards card for the supermarket at Kad Suan Kaew. I just got two 2 jammy donuts for 9 baht! (Except it's not really jam, some amorphous red gloop instead...)

The Expats club has 10% discount on a few places. Maybe someone has a definitive list?

  6. As for McG. I always thought a rabbit was only lucky if you cut it's foot off and carried it with you. Any truth in that rumour?

Well if you chop off the rabbit's foot, I guess you'll have to carry the poor rabbit around!

Or get him some wheels :o
