They probably see it, and send the information to customs of destination of the flight. That way they don't need to deal with it and get smugglers arrested at the other end.
Saw a lot of that on Airport Security series... "acting on a tip"
Correct, happens a lot. A couple of major busts were made in Thailand on info from the Aussie customs - pointless stopping them in Aus. as it only means a bit of a slap on the wrist, whereas in Thailand it means a long stay locked up - as it should be.

How did they not catch this in Thailand? It was a large quantity too. They always x-ray all bags right?
Let the Brits catch him / her if they want to, why would the Thais be concerned - legal purchase in Thailand and besides the Thai's are too busy looking for people trying to "smuggle" tourist Buddha statues out of the country.

The country is screwed when parents have to shoot their children to protect their own lives.

I mean, if every politician had to answer monetarily for potential errors (actually that’s not a bad idea), there’d be nobody running countries. Look at the HUGE damage Blair did to the UK, for example! Presidents aside (LBJ), well over and above what any PM past and present has achieved.
This will get thumbs downs from the usual subjects (I don’t care! It’s petty)… but Yingluck? Again, a delicate flower paying for her brother’s activities and getting the shaft from the system.Agree on the point re her brothers activities, here he is swanning around Thailand and neighbouring countries like he is god's gift to world order - he was the instigater of the rice scheme and he should be now paying the price - not his clone.

Hopefully he has gone to see his buddy Hun Sen, for a very long vacation before going to Dubai again.
Yingluk won't be coming back anytime soon which must have peed him off as he hoped to have her back for Songkran.
But the question is, would he leave his daughter behind to face the music.
Yes he would, she's just another pawn in his power struggle, luckily for her, she hasn't done anything of consequence (other than shopping) so will be ok - just booted out of power.

before she made that statement, i saw her as nothing more than a foolish puppet.
what a hypocritical and worthless person ... she only demands equal treatment when it benefits her ...
btw. maybe she should ask the farmers who took their own lives because of her corrupt policies ..
Not her policies, the previous and current manipulater of female PM's is the one to blame and should be brought to task for his gangster self-indulgent flawed corrupt interference with the the running of the country.

I knew that the extra judicial killings in Thaksin’s first government would prompt the haters to point at Mr T.
Pity they don’t acknowledge that Mr T was spoken to by one who cannot be named and told that “something must be done “.
Rock and a hard place.
There is a big difference between "something must be done" and the slaughter perpetrated on many innocent people including children far removed from any involvement with the drug trade - and did it stop the drug trade - no, it didn't.

Yes it is a bit unfair considering it was instigated and controlled by the current psuedo PM. Yinluck, like the current pretend PM just do as they are instructed while the guilty one is free to roam around all squeaky clean and hailed by some as the saviour of Thailand.

The problem with that strategy is that the some in the military and the police allegedly used the suppression activity to eliminate political "rivals" and advocates of social reform. In other cases, innocent people were killed.
Nonsense. There is no evidence to support your claim. He did not gun down anyone. The drug cartels had taken control of parts of the country and had corrupted local officials including the police. It was a bonafide insurrection funded by the drug syndicates. It was similar to what was seen in Columbia and Mexico. The military was heavy handed, but this was a do or die situation. The failure was on the part of the military to oversee and manage the operation effectively. Thaksin had to work with what he had, and unfortunately, the Thai military of that era was not well trained in fighting narco terrorists.
All fully sanctioned by Thaksin.

Anyone else getting browned-off with these virtually useless AI generated news stories, so my AI response to this particular story follows:
What curious fate I wonder has befallen Thailand, the once almighty nation that stood proud is now relegated to 8th position behind 7 lesser nations, oh! what shame and disaster?
And, is it just my good-self or are others getting seriously and increasingly exasperated - no positively suffocated by these hollow, hyper-polished AI crafted news narratives that drip with artificial grandeur that endeavour to say much about so little.

Commissions are the major consideration, once paid and banked, the rest of the exercise is irrelevant.
