  1. Picking A Badass. And the trickster’s nightmare starts from his driver's seat. From Here To Police Jail LOL.
  2. What a stupid article. The headline is one thing. What the texts say is another. Chinese man stabs Thai waiter for stopping sexual assault According to the title, that Chinese man sounds like a hero tried to save the would-be victim of the sexual assault case. While contents say that (those) Chinese involved are senseless thugs who attacked the waiter without any reasons.
  3. Begging in the streets. And the administrative attempts to stop it. Prohibition of begging in the streets. Looks like a long standing issue here. I recalled the previous regime also addressed this phenomenon. Thai Junta to Issue New Law Banning Begging (khaosodenglish.com) One interesting fact: Huge differences in the Perception of Beggers from country to country. In a place like India, it is regarded legal occupation: having a right to operate as the professional money solicitor in the public place(road and squared). Also entitled to the leftover food in the public markets; the first one to be given such stuff. Among the first world, the USA legally approves the act of begging; on the grounds of the Freedom of Speech(1st Amendment to their constitution). While it is illegal in a country like Japan. Their constitution states that people of their country Must: Get education. Work and Pay Tax. And their police force often keeps blind eyes even when the homeless seeks help from the savage attacks by the strangers in Main Stream Life. Saying you are not a tax payer(therefore unable to seek help from us). Until such incidences lead to the brutal murder case...
  4. 300-baht fee for foreign tourists. This fee was intended to establish a tourism development fund. Bullshxt. Be honest and say it is just another institutionalized theft to enrich 0.1% of the privileged money mongers of the kingdom, at the expense of the foreigners who can't strike back in vote. Completely lacking transparency, who is dumb enough to believe the money robbed from the tourist will be the used for the better being of the workers in tourism sector? I was certainly not Born Yesterday.
  5. A little computer bug can cause all the mess out there. The mechanical malfunction and there will be a half-mile line of the irritating people. And then, they might conclude: Manual processing will be better and safer. Their online 90-day report does not always work. I know quite a few people who experienced it(including myself).
  6. M.I.B(Men In Black)Thailand. The new breed of govt agency specialized in probing aliens' out space assets & income LOL.
  7. I strongly believe that English-speaking accounting firms are behind this stupid move(new tax things targeting foreigners) In order to capitalize the anxiety among the 1st world expats. After my out-of-curiosity queries sent to 2-3 of such establishments, they were very keen to tell me that they can arrange advisory meeting for THB5000-17000/hour. Even when tax department cannot collect any money from those whose income is already taxed elsewhere, these firms can still at least make a good amount of money by making up a useless self-interested meeting with the worrying aliens in the name of Expert Advice. It might be just one-off occasion per individual. Earlier in the 21st century, Thai govt. started to allow foreigners to buy some of their over-produced condominiums. Due to the pressure from the housing developers(that were suffering the aftermath of late 1990s Asian Currency Crisis). To me, the same thing is happening again in the different field. What other people think about?
  8. The first time he did the things right.
  9. If that new tax really comes into effect, the real target is the Thai civilian billionaires/ mega Thai companies openly avoiding tax payment elsewhere. Small numbers of LTR holders won't be in the scope in the first place.
  10. You cannot judge everything in Thailand with the first world standard common sense. Here, they often exercise what is unthinkable to you back home. That is why the joke below makes us laugh and makes sense. Same Same, but Different.
  11. One common nature of the populist regime worldwide nowdays. Extremely boastful; often love to say more than they can really do. Disregarding their capabilities/legal definition. They mostly do that for their approval rate on SNS. Skip Article is the frequently used tool to serve that purpose.
  12. Normally thinking, that is the logical conclusion. Unless tax department of Thailand willfully ignores the legal limit(tax agreement). That is why this issue is causing this much confusion and uneasy feeling among ordinary expats in Thailand. Even though the biggest impacted is the rather easy-to-see big fish. Not the small fish hard to find.
  13. In Feb, when this issue was publicized (as the news in ASEAN NOW), there was a high profile lawyer's comment at the end of the texts. He said that this move will be challenged by the superrich Thais and big companies. In other words, they very well know that they are the primary targets.
  14. Yes quite. The above 'news' is the typical case of the Skip Article; not telling someone's private comment from the official announcement. If intentional, a dirty trick If unintended, very low info literacy.
  15. I have heard that even their postal service is not properly functioning in Cambodia. The only secure mail is ems or poste restante. If you direct individual home as the addressee, it usually goes missing. If they cannot deliver mails correctly, investigating foreign income will be a tall order.
  16. Those commercial entities/billionaires already making a huge amount of profit (openly dodging tax payment) will be the primary targets. Otherwise, they just end up as wasting huge amount of time and labor by the end of any tax years. What is the point of chasing around not-so-affluent foreigners for little or no gain.
  17. Question: How you are supporting yourself? It is often asked by an ordinary Thais(other than bureaucrats). But I have never been asked by anyone in uniform in Thailand. I have been here nearly 2 decades by now though.
  18. A massive stimulation in their local economys. ---------------------------- Do you really believe the money from the 'new tax' will be spent for the welfare of the poor in Thailand? Too naive to believe that innocently. Nothing more than another scheme to enrich the already superrich 0.1% of the ruling class. If I am here long enough, can see it naturally.
  19. The biggest impacted will be global corporation including Thailand's(dodging tax payment skillfully using tax heaven and other legal loopholes). Earlier this year(in Feb when this was first addressed in public), I saw the article that says this proposed change will be strongly challenged by the wealthy Thais and big companies.
  20. Yesterday, I got a email from the accounting firm I contacted several days ago(out of curiosity). They sent me the link of the original BKK Post article of this same issue. And that sender(tax specialist) also stressed that the article is purely tax chief's private speech. Not a official statement by the tax department of Thailand.
  21. If your income outside Thailand is already taxed, seemingly no needs to worry about. Many of the first world countries have tax agreement(not to tax on one same income more than once). The only and major concern is, Thailand might try to tax already-taxed money again by mistake/on purpose.
  22. I already read it yesterday. The accounting firm I contacted out of curiosity several days ago kindly sent me the link with that news.
  23. Are they planning to establish a new wing of the government? Department of Men in Black. Intended to investigate every 1st world alien's out space assets and income.
  24. I am quite sure they certainly have no such resources or manpower to do that. Unless they can fetch and torture every single innocent alien here brutally. "Tell us all about your income outside our kingdom. Or your pain persists even longer..." Land of the smile will rapidly turn into the state of another North Korea with the tropical climate. Certainly bad for this country's reputation as the major tourist destination.
  25. ..expand the tax base by requiring platforms with an income of 1 billion baht or more to report their sources of income. ------------------------------ It means he is not interested in anyone's foreign income less than 1B THB/year. Seemingly targeting mega corporation/super-super rich individuals. What make you guys worry so much? Any of the readers/posters here earns that much money each year I certainly don't LOL. This stupid article is another form of Click Bait; trying to draw readers' attention with the scary headline. Nothing more than that.
