  1. how did he live there for 8 years the first time.... what passport what visa etc...

did u all not notice that one or what

    SHE not he...

By that time it was much easier here. You could do visa runs every month without any problems. It's only now since the 1st of october you only are alowed to extend your tourist visa three times during a 6 month period wich means that after thre extensions you need to either go out of the country for 90 days before enter again or get a non immigrant visa.

  2. If you want a direct flight Thailand-Copenhagen, your only options will be Thai Airways.

There are two airlines that flies directly from Bangkok to Copenhagen. Thai Air and SAS Scandinavian airlines. But it's always much more expensive tickets when searching on the airline webpage. Why I don't know.

But I'm thankful for all the answers and I will try them right away.

  3. Hi!

I just wonder if anyone knows any good place to buy flight tickets FROM Thailand? And in my case I want to go from Bangkok-Copenhagen.

I've tried to search the web but I can't find anything.

Does anyone know some good internet travel agency? Or a good office? I live in Ayutthaya so Bangkok is ok if anyone knows a good office there.

    Thanks

    Martin

  4. Having money in the bank does not work. Setting up a business and working could be a viable option; but it is not without a high (very) failure rate.

    Thanks for your answer.

But setting up a buisness. I think you need to invest several million Baht to get that kind of visa...to open a small kitchen/restaurant doesn't cost that much. So it's impossible then because they are both farangs.

Especially now since the new rule that you can only extend your tourist visa three times.

So their only solution must be to try to work first and get a work permit so they can get their visa that way. work for a while ant then set up the small buisness.

  5. hi!

I have a friend in Sweden. He's 23 years old and he has a swedish girlfriend not thai. If they want to try to live in Thailand how do they do with visa? I mean now since the new rules that you are only alowed to extend your tourist visa three times. How do ou get a long stay visa if you are not married to thai? or want to invest several millions.

Is it enough if you have money in the bank to get a long stay visa?

I think their plans is to start a very small kitchen to sell european food somewhere.

    Is there any possibilities?

  6. Hello all swedish bangkok-based people!! Is there any chance I can find swedish meatballs in a restaurant and "kalles kaviar" in a deli somewhere?

    Hello!

I don't know if I'm supposed to answer in English or Swedish but I suppose you're Swedish so...

    Tjenare!

Not entirely sure whether you were referring to just Bangkok, or speaking about Thailand in general? There are a few decent places in Pattaya. My personal favourite is located between soi 6 and soi 7 at Beach road in Patttaya. The name of this establishment is Globetrotter. They've got EVERYTHING. For example, knäckebröd (crisp bread) with kalles kaviar, meatballs with cream sauce. Swedish style pizza. Today's special, Swedish style. They also have most types of snus [swedish snuff] (but they charge 280 baht per pack). Google for their home page, which has a complete menu.

They will also arrange smörgåsbord on some Sundays; Easter food, Christmas dinner, and Midsummer food. They're just one minute away from the beach.

Sending the home page by PM.

I hope you found what you were looking for.

  7. So if I get it right...I, being married to a Thai, and we have two children together isn't enough, I need 400K to get a90 day visa? and then to get a year visa i need 40k income/month? Or else impossible? Because I'm not working right now becase I can't work with a tourist visa. But how about if i GET a fulltime job and make them write a work permit for me? Would it be easier to get visa then?

  8. Many thanks to Lopburi3 and others for the sound advice when my long stay extentions expired while I was overseas.

Their advice and my action was to get a tourist visa and then change that visa to a non-imm O visa in Thailand.

Much to my delight, unlike three years ago, I didn't have to go to Bangkok to do this, Chiang Mai Immigration did it and in less than an hour. I did have to return four hours later, my guess to give them time to put my application online to check various databases, probably including U.S. to see if I was a bad guy.

The visa does not carry any writing on it indicating what type of non-imm visa it is but they voided my tourist visa with the "used" stamp but did the same to the non-imm visa as well. Another stamp states "admitted 9 November, the date of getting my non-imm visa, actual entry date on tourist visa was Nov. 2.

"Unitil" date is 6 Feb but was advised to return in early Janruary to start the long stay extention process.

1900 Baht fee and expect same fee in Janruary. Used my pension for the first time and it was quite simple. No one asked me for proof of amount, I merely swore under oath at the Counsulate in Chiang Mai to the truth of the statement.

:o I am from Germany and did the same in Mae Sai on October 27th.Yesterday I had an appointment in Mae Sai and got my Non Immigrant O Visa. But the fee was 2000 THB(as advertised in the internet). For applying for the extension I shall come early in January 2007.

    It was pretty easy,although I had to wait 14 days of consideration.That didn't matter,anyway

    Hi!

So you guys mean that it is possible to get the Non immigrant O Visa IN Thailand??? I have always heard that you need to apply for the non immigrant vias abroad. On a Thai conulate.

In Mae sai what docoments did you need? I'm about to apply for a Non immigrant O my self. By marriage. I have a Thai wife and we have two sons together. I have no income here yet. I'm only 26 years old so I don't have a pension comming every month either. But I'm going to work as a teacher when I get my Non Immigrant.

So maybe I shouldtry Chiang Mai or mae Sai first?

  9. From US and live in Bangkok but wife originally from Lopburi.

Aha ok. I only know one person from US here. I work extra mondays and fridays as an English teacher at IIE at Future Park Rangsit, and one of the teatchers there (ED) is from the US.

Here in My town there aren't too many farangs staying permanent. I only know one English man running a small hotel with swimmingpool and good farang food :o

    Can you speak Thai?

  10. You are not likely to receive more than a single entry visa anywhere else. If you will meet the requirements for extension of stay for either work or marriage and can use that route then yes, you can use Vientiane; but if in any doubt I would suggest you obtain a multi entry from the longer route using one of the discount air carriers.

Thank you very much for your fast replies. Do you live in Lopburi?

    Where are you from originally?

I'm as I said 26 and I live in Ayutthaya and I come from Sweden.

  11. Are you planning to live in Thailand? Do you have family income of 40k baht per month that you can use to extend your stay?

If you need visa entry for more than 90 days you would be well advised to visit either Kuala Lumpur or Singapore to obtain a multi entry non immigrant visa (do not believe any other consulate in the area is likely to provide).

I have plans to stay here a long time yes. I don't have an income yet (I'm 26 years old) But I will work as an egnlish teacher. But to be able to wok I need my non immigrant first. It's illegal to work with a tourist visa. I have two sons. One is 3,5 years old and the younger one is 1, and as I said my wife is Thai.

Kuala Lumpur or Singapore...That´s quite long travel. How about the Thai consulate in south of Laos?

  12. Hi!

My name is Martin and I have lived for 4 months now in Ayutthaya Thailand. I'm still on my tourist visa and I go to Aranyaprathet every month to extend it.

I met my wife in Sweden 6 years ago and we are married in Sweden. (She is Thai) Now I finally have all the marriage paper ready in thai language and we have been to "Ampeur" and got our THAI marriage paper. So now I'm ready to apply for my non immigrant visa...But where???

I know I must apply outside the country right? At a Thai embassy or consulate. Where is the nearest consulate? In Laos? Cambodia? Myanmar?

And what do I need more than the marriage papers, my passport and her Thai ID card?

    Pleas help me

    Martin
