When i first came to LOS in mid 90s a mate told me never forget the four Fs. If it flies, floats, fcks or in a foreign country always cheaper to rent than buy. How true this is.

Best thing that happened to the cabs in Pattaya As an X cabby from Perth it annoyed me how they would refuse to use the meter and just make up prices, quite often 300 or 400 thb to go a km. So i avoided them like the plague.
