  1. I have been having discomfort in my lower left abdomen, which seems to improve or disappear when if a pass wind.

I am 57 am have never had a colonoscopy so I guess I should get that done.  Any other recommendations?

I am in Pattaya but can travel to Bangkok if there are better options there.

  2. I arrived at Suvarnbhumi early this morning.  I have just realised that there is no departure card in the passport - not sure if it was not returned to me or has fallen out.  The manager our condo says that they need the number of the departure card to do the required address notification.

What do i need to do? Will Jomtien immigration give me a replacement card?

  3. use an agent as u avoid traveling to the consolute, 2x's

Banana Guest house or Jim's place, both on Chula street will do it for you for 60 MYR

    Note;

you will get a single non immigrant o visa

which u than extend in Thailand

I got a multi entry in June. Banana Guest house said that this would not be possible. Jim said no problem.

  4. so do I understand that right ? If you want a multiple-O based on marriage, you don't need to show ANY proof of income or funds, whereas if you want to apply for a non-O based on age (50+), you need to show income or funds even for a SINGLE entry ? that would be...... weird, isn't it ? I actually want to apply for a multiple non-O based on age (50+), as I don't have a need to transfer it into a 1-year-non-O with no exits necessary. I never use the full 90 days anyway. But this seems to be not possible in Savannakhet (or elsewhere) ?

If you were to go to Vientiane you could possibly get a single entry non-o with no funds.

You will not get a multiple entry in the region for being 50 or over.

I have a multiple entry visa for being over 50 - issued in Penang. The only requirement was a bank book with at least 800,000 baht.

  5. They will do a single entry non-o visa without problem.

Just your bank book showing 800k baht (3 months is not a requirement) updated shortly before you leave the country. No need for a bank letter.

Apply the morning of one day and pickup the next afternoon.

There have been reports in the past of them doing a multiple entry visa with financial proof. But if you plan on getting an extension their is not need for one.

The reason that a multiple entry would be useful is that I might need to return to the UK at short notice before I can apply for the extension. I thought a that would be easier that arranging a re-entry permit.

  6. I am over 50 and have more than 800,000 baht in a bank account for more than 3 months. I am planning to apply for a Non-O in Penang next week with a view of extending in the future in Jomtien.

    What do I need?

    Passport to show my age?

Bank book? Do I also need a letter from the bank?

    Anything else?

    Can I get a multiple entry Non-O?

For what a read I apply in the morning and collect the follow day. Is this still the case?

Do I need a return ticket to enter Malaysia. I am flying to Penang on AirAsia but was planning to return over land.

  7. Hi

Got a condo booked for family, just recieved an email form the rental place, saying they were just informed today from the revenue department that the government now requires to charge 7% VAT TAX at time of check in.

So it looks like anyone who rents a condo out they will be looking for their 7% share.

I think the condo owner has decided to increase your rental price by 7% and the revenue department is a convent excuse.

  8. In my view the most important element in getting a well run condo is the Committee. Some of the posts about how a management might act are entirely true if the management is not subject to effective control and supervision by the Committee.

I live in a 144 unit condo in Pattaya. The condo is 12 years old, it was first managed by the developer then by 2 "professional" management companies none of whom did an acceptable job. The condo is now self managed with the Building Manager reporting directly to the Committee. It had been a long process of improvement. We have been able to increase cash balances from virtually nothing when the developer left to nearly 12 million baht today - which is almost 3 years common fee income and this was done without increase fees. We give a 10% early payment discount to any owner paying 2015 fees by 30 December 2014. Of the 144 units, all fees for 2013 and all previous years have been received, 1 units owes 2014 fees and 6 units are still to pay 2015 fees

  9. This is a classic glass half full against glass half empty issue.

We have just had a report that say this year Thailand will have the second highest number of Russian tourist ever. Then there is a forecast that next year the number will plummet to around 4 times the level in 2009.

How can the Thai economy survive having 4 times as many Russian tourists as 6 years earlier. Take cover everyone. The sky is falling.

  10. I was aware that conversion in Thailand was possible. However, I live in Pattaya and I seem to recall seeing a post that suggested it was no longer possible there.

My 2nd tourist visa stamp is admitted until 13 January and I am 50 on 23 March. I often go to the Philippines at Songkran so I had been considering extending my current entry then doing a border run and trying to yet the "O" in Manila during the Songran but it seems this is not a good option. However, a few days in Penang would be fine.

I am likely to go back to England in June so getting another single entry tourist and then the "O" in London is another possible option.

  11. I will be 50 next year. I am currently on the 2nd entry of a triple entry tourist visa issued in London.

Where can I get a an "O". I am likely to go to the Philippines so is Manila possible? Otherwise I assume Penang or Laos would be OK. Where else in the region?

I already have 800,000 baht. What do I need to show? Just the bank book? A letter from the bank? Proof it's come from overseas?

  12. I believe units at vt1 and VT2 are also above the 49% foreign threshold because of the 1999-2004 exemption for Bangkok and Pattaya condo projects. It was always my understanding these units were grandfathered and could be resold to a foreigner. It would be interesting to know if that is the case and if that is the situation at Chateau Dale.

Yes. This is the situation at Chateau Dale. The Condo has been over 49% since the exemption ended in 2004. Previously foreigner to foreigner transfers were permitted by the Land Office but this stopped without any warning earlier this year.

  13. A raise of 50% seems not acceptable...

I have lived on Pattaya for 12 years. If an increase to 15 baht is confirmed that a 50% increase in 12 years does not really seems to bad.

However, on Monday I went from Jomtien to Big C in North Pattaya. I give a 20 baht note and for the first time ever I was given change - which I was not expecting because a had always assumed that journey was far enough to be 20 baht.

  14. As far as I am aware no- one in Thailand offers 8-10 year deposits. Are you sure that actually is a fixed deposit and not some type of investment product. Knowing only the rate tells you nothing about its suitably. Have Alliance Group explained to you the nature of the product, what the risks are, how is the expected return generated and guaranteed and how much commission they will earn if they can sell you the product?
