Winning.........so much winning! Goldman Sachs are wary of 500K of US job losses due to tariffs https://www.forexlive.com/news/goldman-sachs-are-wary-of-500k-of-us-job-losses-due-to-tariffs-20250415/ "The broader statistical evidence points to negative net employment effects. While the range of estimates is wide, academic studies generally find that a 1Opp increase in tariff rates raises employment in protected industries by 0.2-0.4% but that each 1pp increase in tariff-driven costs lowers employment by 0.3-0.6%. Scaling these estimates to the US economy imply a boost of just under 100k to manufacturing employment from tariff protection but a roughly 500k drag on downstream employment from input cost pressures."

Visited Sachsenhausen concentration camp in my teens in what was then East Germany. I'll never forget it. It was less than 40 years since the end of WW 2 and West Berlin was such an awesome place to experience, an island of democracy in a sea of communism/totalitarianism. Now the drums of war have started beating again, this time in the east, with a murderous dictator in the Kremlin longing for the reestablishment of the USSR. And in Washington a moronic clown and fascist wannabe is in the WH. Really glad I'm not starting a family in these times.

Yes, obviously he's spot on. The West is fully committed to embracing the tariffs imposed on them and can't wait to support the "trade revolution". Watching the news coverage from the traditional allies of the US one gets the feeling of deep admiration and respect for the Don, even when their stock markets crash and their economies tank! Seriously, I wasted 4 minutes of my life watching that video and it's just jibber-jabber. Trade revolution, reset, new system. Terms being thrown around but absolutely NOTHING concrete. Blah, blah, blah. Useless.

How stupid is China for retaliating to Trumps tariffs?
BLMFem replied to hotsun's topic in Political Soapbox
Well, I'm anti-stupid so would be amiss if I didn't point out to you that it is unclear both who and what point you're referring to. -
There's so much drivel in this post I'm amazed your PC didn't shut down in shame. I'm not gonna counter every turd you served up but have to address the biggest one - the mother-turd: "Trillions of dollars of investment coming in". Reeeeealy?! Trump slapping on tariffs left and right, high and low, on people and penguins, creating a profound sense of fiscal uncertainty to the point where bonds and shares go down at the same time, and you think trillions of $ are coming in???

Captain Flip-Flop at it again, because uncertainty is so good for business and investments. So, so good.
