  1. This only makes sense when it was the rabies vaccine. 5 rounds to be expected if she didn't have it previously. I wonder why this (and the costs) aren't mentioned. So you can risk interacting with the monkeys but should know the possible consequences. I did it for years and can confirm that there was only one incident when I pulled back a bag that a monkey had already grabbed, and it attacked. Otherwise they are like dogs and know exactly how not to penetrate your skin while biting teasingly. They might even start grooming you, looking for lice. So they can be gentle, too.
  2. That's not the reason. In Australia it's free since November 23 for over 65 years old. Millions of doses were given. But what is the trend: Overall no decrease, rather increase, even 11-fold after 1st vaccination! Then they claim the second dose is giving protection while every immunologist knows that you acquire protection after having been sick because your T-cells remember. Something is wrong here, esp. because more and more younger people get it.
  3. Ok, than do the math. It is rather unlikely to have overlooked your chickenpox. The question than is: Did you get the chickenpox vaccine? If so, your shingles will rather be mild. About 30 percent of the population will get shingles, of those about 15 percent develop long term pain. That is 5 percent of the population. The equivalent of those who never had the chickenpox vaccine. Interestingly, Shingles has not dropped significantly enough since the introduction of Shingrix in 2017. Vaccination rates increase but infection and side effects do, too, worldwide.
  4. You can't get Shingles if you never had chickenpox. Therefore the vaccine would be useless.Did you ever have chickenpox?
  5. .. and I doubt that you can speed into a crossing when you have dotted lines in front of you that tell you to watch pedestrians.
  6. Hmm. I neither see street signs nor any hint that this is not the main road. Only left before right could make sense but not without knowing the other details. The other guy was most likely still beyond the speed limit. Two other details. 1) The fast black car in the other direction, a hint that this is the main road. 2) The speeding bike seems to drive too far on the right.
  7. Well, then, how can he be at fault, being on the main road while the one crashing into him is speeding?
  8. So what footage have YOU seen? Give us a link, please.
  9. That's fishy. Many ideas come to mind when an insurance claims fraud, one is that he doesn't even have a driver's license, and it won't help that he wasn't driving at that moment. The other is: What "related" costs could be so high? As many of you, I am tired of all those fundraising efforts. And I am tired of lack of journalism and half-baked stories here. Mention the hospital's name, so I can ask there myself what's going on.
  10. So we can buy the alcohol between 2 and 5 p.m. but not drink it outside anymore in the future?
  11. I understand but it's healthier to not drink the water cold. There is a huge difference between some brands, as only the more expensive ones have all the minerals including magnesium which we should really watch. The cheaper waters as well as those from the machines are usually filtered. My doc wouldn't drink from the machines, he has issues with the bacterial safety, so I would only use the refill stations for the water I cook or make tea with.
  12. Many places have free haircuts once in a while. In Pattaya I saw it Saturday's at 11 at Big C extra.
  13. Don't worry. They pay even more. Remember the story about the guy who didn't appear at his jetset wedding and the court made him pay millions to the other site just for the damage done? Educated women and their family often expect a million upfront as a dowry. Having studied to then become a housewife may be enough. Your educated Thais don't want to lose face but keep their status, a cultural habit that might make them miss something. Many of us met educated women. We may not have liked their expectations in each case.
  14. I hear that a lot. On closer inspection I usually find the foreigner has bought a house (plus land), a car and a motorbike, insurances etc and put all in the name of his wife. This usually accumulates to a couple of million baht. When this is done, it may be enough to feed the companions. The stories that are told here often leave out important parts. He gives the impression to be rather "minimal", so he probably has chosen s.th. like Pacific Cross which starts under 40.000 Baht for inpatient at 61 with some deductible, and that's how old he looks to me. You paid so much either because you wanted everything covered, had a lot of preconditions or didn't look around.
  15. I saw the guy on TicToc. He obviously pretends to be younger than he is, and his insurance premium, assuming he is out for the cheapest option, would put him in the 60s. At this price it would only cover in-patient, so a root canal etc. would add up. He is well versed, speaks some Thai and seems reasonable, except for his opinion about common Thai women who he believes will not cost him as much as 'professional" ones on the long run.
  16. Saving delivery fees that can be made into a 20 baht tip for the drivers. I like their service.
  17. No criminal needs that visa. The criminals have paid agents for decades.
  18. Imagine standing next to your friend at home while a foreigner is doing s.th. strange. Wouldn't you say: "Look at that foreigner", not knowing his nationality or name? Isn't it similar to saying "Look at the farang"?
  19. "Ni hao" lacks malice, too. If it was racist per se, I wouldn't be allowed to say "hello" anymore, either. I don't know why the tolerance of this ranger was so thin. He could have greeted the Russian back with a nonchalant "konichi wa".
  20. I can do without all of them. Esp. those sneakers and jeans. Nike and Brooks are a problem though 😉
