  1. Malaysia and China are the largest source countries for Thai tourism, accounting for more than 25%, each more than double of the third place country, India. Western expats may not care about a border skirmish, but Asian tourists do. Thailand has been getting a lot of bad press lately between the fighting, and political instability. The earthquake earlier this year didn't help either. Chinese and Asean tour companies have been stating that the demand for Thailand travel packages has declined significantly. There's a lot of competition for tourist dollars, people choose to go where they feel safe, whether that's based on fact or not, perception is everything.
  2. Body count before you married her is not really relevant. She isn't going to tell you the truth anyway. Double whatever she tells you. Body count after you marry her is definitely relevant.
  3. Yawn. Move on. No one cares who you are dating.
  4. Another Thai law/ crackdown/ regulation, announced with great fanfare, after which nothing really changes
  5. Land of constantly changing laws. Dont like a current law? Just wait, it'll be changed two weeks from now
  6. There's good and bad places everywhere. It all depends how much money you have.
  7. I spend 6 months of the year in a Bangkok condo on the 33rd floor, and fortunately I wasn't there during the quake. Talking to the landlord, he informed me there are cracks in the ceilings, and the concrete floors have buckled in places, yet people are still living there. Doesn't sound safe to me. And the people that have bought condos would seem to have massive repair bills and a loss on their investment. I won't be going back there anytime soon, out of concerns of a collapse , I'll rent a house or even go to another country all together.
  8. " However, his dreams crumbled in November when a spat with an ex landed him in hot water in Pattaya." Going into business with a girl you met in Pattaya will never end well. She has all the leverage in this country, the moment she's had enough of you, you're screwed. Protect yourself.
  9. A corrupt, lying politician? Who would've guessed!
  10. Singapore dollar is stronger, Brunei dollar is stronger as well
