Politics Thaksin Shinawatra's Perceived Privilege Rocks Thai Government
ChockyTheCat replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If that’s his latest picture he doesn’t look like he’ll be here much longer, if he wasn’t sick before he looks it now ! -
Thailand continually makes itself look stupid on the world stage, you cant charge a former PM with a mistake that cost millions, if that was the case every ex PM and President around the world would be in prison, they all have to make decisions for the better of the country, some work , some don’t, there’s no proof she personally profited from the rice scheme and we all know she wasn’t qualified to run the country in the first place, just like the current PM isn’t qualified to do so. How can any leader make any major decisions if they know they are going to be locked up if things don’t work out ?

Sending the Prime Ministers father to prison ???? I don’t think so, it’s not going to happen ! -
We don’t know the real story yet but Thai Landlords are notorious for not returning any deposit, sounds like this could be the problem here, and they’ve taken revenge. This happened to me many years ago, I left the house in better condition than when I moved in, but she lied and refused to return any money, I took her to court and won but it took a long time and I would loved to have taken revenge like this !

Fire Blaze Erupts at Chiang Mai’s Dhara Dhevi Hotel
ChockyTheCat replied to Georgealbert's topic in Chiang Mai News
What a shame, I visited the hotel about 10 years ago and it really was an absolute masterpiece of Thai craftsmanship, absolutely stunning, it seems it has never been run properly and I’m sure it won’t survive yet another crisis ! -

Pattaya Hotels Boom Amid Post-Quake Guest Surge as Hua Hin Falters
ChockyTheCat replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I don’t see tourism in Hua Hin picking up at all until those horrendous and dangerous road works on Rama 2 are finished ( if they ever get finished ) it’s disgusting how long it’s taking and the loss of life it’s caused, I absolutely dread driving that section of road and do everything I can to avoid it. -
Pattaya Awaits Decision on Fate of Controversial Waterfront Condo

I think a big problem is they get no training at all, one day working in a paddy field the next day a restaurant manager, and it’s not just restaurants it’s the same in big stores like HomePro, you ask the simplest question about where a certain product is or if something is in stock and it’s , no have, finish, without even looking, it does drive you crazy but that’s life in Thailand for you !

And he though a cabbage truck driving North into the mountains would take him to a tropical Island in the South ? -
I recently returned from my first visit to China, I visited Shanghai and I have to say it’s the most amazing, beautiful, futuristic, safe, clean place I’ve ever seen in the world, forget all the scary stories you’ve read coming from people who’ve never been, it’s fabulous. Spending money can be a problem, I set up We Chat and Alipay on my phone before I arrived but neither worked when I arrived there, if you have a Thai credit card or debit card go to your local Bank here and check they will work in China and get them authorised, thank goodness I did that and my card worked everywhere. I also took US dollars and changed some money at the airport on arrival, I got the proper rate and that worked well, what I should have done is change more dollars as once in the city it’s very difficult to change money, the banks won’t change your dollars unless you have a Chinese bank account and I was only able to find one money exchange and I never managed to find it again, don’t believe what people say about most places won’t take cash, I found everywhere would take cash, I wasn’t refused once, so you defiantly need to take a mixture of cash and authorised debit/ credit cards to cover expenses just incase your payment apps don’t work.
