  1. So, this is the marijuana guy, right? Big hurrah for him. He will usher Thailand in the right direction now. If the beach road and the walking street starts stinking marijuana, the invasion from India can be halted.
  2. Ok, I believe a nobody who fled from his home country because he could not make it in his home country and now live a life of refugee using "wifiey visa" in a foreign land and ignore Jensen Huang who runs a trillion dollar company. This is what Jensen Huang said "Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, views U.S. chip export restrictions to China as a potential "tremendous loss" for American companies. He argues that these restrictions, while intended to limit China's technological advancement, may inadvertently push China towards self-reliance and potentially cede the burgeoning AI market to competitors like Huawei. Huang has expressed concern that these restrictions could lead to a significant loss of revenue and market share for Nvidia, while also potentially hindering the overall global AI development ecosystem"
  3. 910C is comparable to H20 but it's the eco system. Companies are used to CUDA for development and switching to domestically developed CANN take time. Nvidia's most advanced chips Blackwell also have domestically developed equivalent Ascend 910B. Jensen Huang has accelerated development of Blackwell chips for Chinese market but I am sure that will also have backdoors and China will reject it for government projects. As per private companies, it will take time to switch from CUDA to CANNN. Basically, US companies will lose revenues in the long term as Chinese companies fully integrate in to their local eco system. Using "national security" ruse will not thwart China's progress. It will only affect US companies revenues. That's what exactly China was saying since the Chip War started.
  4. Nothing wrong. It just shows that earlier ban based on national security was a sham, fraud and lies and all the national security concerns disappeared when money was paid to the commerce department. In fact, when some experts and people-in-the know dismissed "national security" concern as a ruse to thwart China's progress, they were labelled as Chinese propagandists. Now China is saying those chips have backdoors and banned their use in any government projects, instead they were told to use domestically developed 910C chips.
  5. Now the commerce department is demanding 15% fees for export license of top end AI chips to China. Export license is given based on national security and should not be based on a fees.
  6. A new idea floated by senators Bill Cassidy (R) in Tim Caine(R). The idea calls for investing $1.5 trillion over the next five years into an investment fund that would then be given 70 years to grow. Read the details and discuss https://thehill.com/business/budget/5439992-bipartisan-senate-social-security-plan/
  7. Wrong, we are taking the money from the trust fund (please read SS Trustee's report) to cover the shortfall in SS payments. The treasury has borrowed money from the trust fund and the Government has to borrow more to replenish the trust fund. But once, the trust fund is gone, government cannot borrow to replenish the trust fund by law. That is when the payments will be cut 25%. The SS is able to pay 75% of the current payment till 2100 under existing law without the trust fund. Please read SS Trustee's report; not any CATO (a libertarian thinktank)'s report who are advocating SS as a Ponzi scheme and are advocating for complete elimination of FICA taxes and push everybody to mandated 401(K) and IRAs. In my opinion SS should invest in the market (low cost index funds, bond funds, and the US treasuries) instead of solely investing in US treasuries. Of course, it has to be done slowly instead of injecting trillion dollars into the market to skew the market. In his 1999 State of the Union address, President Bill Clinton proposed transferring $2.7 trillion in budget surpluses to the Social Security trust funds. He further suggested investing 20 percent of those funds in the stock market, likely in index funds, aiming for about 14.5% of the total trust fund assets to be in index funds. Everybody ridiculed his ideas, including Democrats. I believe we would have been better off if we did that.
  8. I don't understand. Was he giving it for free that people were buying a glass of water, eating and leaving? Did he expect people to buy alcohol? I don't drink alcohol. Why would I buy alcohol?
  9. By law, SS cannot borrow money. It can lend money from the trust fund but it cannot borrow money to cover payments. There is no deficits due to SS. SS is self-sufficient. When the money runs out, it will be a "pay as you go system."
  10. Has somebody applied in Chicago consulate for a DTV visa based on "Workcation" category as a nomad? I have the money 30K USD in my ally bank. I have income from my Website around $700 from AdSense and affiliate marketing. I have an AZ Ltd company that was set up last year for obtaining DTV visa only. I have SS income of 3K USD/month (Irreverent for DTV visa) but useful if I apply for Non-O visa. I have lived in Thailand for twenty years, initially on visa exempts and then switched to OA, O-extension based on retirement when I reached 50 years fifteen years ago. I sold my Jomtian condo last year and came back to the US but now I am bored. Planning to go back to Thailand in October but initially deciding to live 6-months in Thailand and 6-months outside Thailand (the US). What are the documents somebody used to successfully obtain their DTV visa in "workcation" category from Chicago consulate?
  11. I don't care about future generation. I only care about my generation.
  12. But one can sue Walmart for selling substandard toys resulting in the death of a child.
  13. DODGE check did not materialize because SS payment to 400 years old people and illegals were all false. DODGE could have scooped up more waste and abuse if they would audited DOD but they could not. The real money is wasted in DOD where they give contractors billions for seemingly trivial works.
  14. CNBC is reporting new legislation has been introduced to give $600 rebate to all American Tax filers. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/07/29/tariff-rebate-check-trump.html
  15. CIA is not stupid. They will always instigate conflict based existing conflicts.
  16. According to China observer (an anti China mouth piece of falun gong funded by CIA), this entire conflict was instigated by CIA and NSA so that they could install a Military dictatorship in Thailand who would stop all China related projects in Thailand. Thailand is military is not listening to Civil leadership.
  17. Where? I want to sign up. Lots of Americans in China are now accused of being paid CCP troll because they make videos of shining Chinese roads, infrastructures, and how cheap China is. I want to go to China and want to be a CCP troll but nobody is showing me where I can sign up.
  18. The committee for a responsible budget predicts SS cut to the tune of $18,000 in seven years. What are American expats planning to do in the future? https://www.crfb.org/blogs/retirees-face-18100-benefit-cut-7-years
  19. The USA is too expensive for people who don't have sufficient funds. Retirees with average SS income of $2000 (assuming another $1000 for spousal benefits) and a house is on extremely tight budget after paying for Part B, Part D, and Medicare supplement insurance (minimum $800 for a couple), one is left with only $2200. After paying for property taxes and real estate insurance, one will be left with $1,500 per month. Not easy to survive. Need Walmart greeter jobs to survive which will reduce the average life another few years.
  20. They detained citizens also who don't look like Europeans. Once detained, one has to prove that the detainee is a citizen because he does not look like Europeans.
  21. A few mid-western states are giving free lands in rural towns to build homes and stay in the US. Anybody planning to go back to the US with their social security? Property taxes are "alleged" to be in "hundreds" only. And in rural Kansas one can build a house for $125K. Walmart and hospitals are within 30 minutes drive.
  22. Why do you need a US bank account? Can't you do it with your personal account in your name in your home country? You should always have a personal account in your home country. Why close all your accounts in your home country when you move to another country.
  23. I don't think it works like that for Trump. Before all these Tariff wars, The average EU tariff on US goods was less than 2% and the average US tariff on EU goods were also comparable, except some targeted tariff on certain goods. Now the average tariff on EU goods to the US is more than 15%.
  24. Last year I sold my condo in Pattaya (Jomtien) and came back to the US. I have enough savings (around 500K USD) and I applied for SS to start from September. I will get around $3,000 per month. I am bored in the USA, though I live in a FL beach town. I like beaches. My US daughter lives in IL and she is a health care provider. I am buying a ticket in October to Thailand. I have lived on and off in Thailand for almost twenty years. Initially it was all fun. Alcohol. drugs, and ladies. Now at the age of 65, I lost interest so much so that I don't like drinking even. Only weed keeps me high which is not legal in FL. I feel married people are lucky. I have a daughter in Thailand who will go to the university next year and I am ready to take care of her expenses still she graduates. Her mom is OK and we are good friends and she has her own income but she plans to move to Issan next year when my daughter goes to the university. I simply cannot live in Issan. I am planning to relocate to Koh Samui that has better air quality than anywhere else in Thailand. I also need to buy a health insurance in Thailand. In the last twenty years I have visited more than fifty countries . So, there is no desire to travel anymore also except a trip to China in the next couple of years. Any suggestions to kill time (not going to bars everyday) to get rid of boredom? Is Koh Samui a nice place to live? I have been to Koh Samui once ten years ago. I don't like Phuket. I like beaches.
