  1. Ya, cool link, Ker!

I am disappointed there are no gardens, like Kew, or natural wonders, like say Victoria or Niagara falls or the Amazon and the rainforests and all they hold within. Hey, the Chinese ruined the Three Gorges, so things could happen to our other natural sites. Just my reasoning.

I voted for Angkor, Great Wall, Colosseum, Easter Island, Kiomizudera, Machu Picchu, and Stonehenge, because they make me wonder how they were made or wonder at the sheer skill, engineering and craftsmanship that went into their making. Also their use in life and beliefs. Why, why, why? I picked Kiyomizu because i have been there many times. It is magical and the greenery, water and layout instill a sense of serenity (until the busloads of Tokyo tourists invade).

I would vote for the first man-made wheel, when they find it.

  2. Interesting. I watched various newscasts just after 9/11 and one was an Arabic channel (forget the name). Arabic male and female reporters/anchors. I was pleasantly surprised that they were sincerely horrified at the loss of life that day. The reporting was unopinionated and non-US bashing. Of course, opinions always come through by what is shown and what is not. The Beeb is notorious for this -- showing only the views that support it's stance. FOX. Geez, I watched it first in Hadyai on a visa run; <deleted>? International cable and all they talked about was some American chick missing in Aruba. Oh ya and around the world in 90 seconds or something. Nice suits though.

I'll look up Al Jaz on the net. Don't watch TV anymore. But as a prev poster noted, beheadings spring to mind when I hear its name.

  3. Well then...you can call me a big ol' loveable tuna. Damm, I wanted to be a shark, sounds sexier.

    Tunas are nice.

Um, I thought whales are mammals. Oh, well. I think Mucky was up drinking when he devised this little venture. hehe

I picked jellyfish because I like to float around and sting people. I would have picked sockeye salmon, but not an option, nor was blue grouper. But people like to eat those, so I am happy with my selection.

  4. Hey, Lampy, where does it turn brown? Just curious; I'm not a bread maker. My aunty made abfab bread on the farm, but that doesn't help you any. Sorry to hear you had to bin all that bread, FC Pickles. Maybe its different conditions -- humidity, maybe even sea level. Had to change recipes/temps when I lived near the Rockies.

  5. And they're into the final stretch and it's Who Cares by a moot! Middy, you should have ran odds and kept book. hehe

I wish the type was a bit bigger or bolder is all.

  6. Like I said before, donate to the local dog rescue centres. In some areas, you just call them and they come and take the dogs; at the very least, they'll jab for rabies and neuter/spay the animals before releasing. November Rain runs a dog charity in Hua Hin and would likely be kind enough to explain these programmes, as would other TV members, like Nienke. Soi dogs may be a nuisance or dangerous to some, but so are many things.

During my long stay in Thailand, I only heard of one case of rabies (north Koh Phangnan, and I think the dog was bitten by a rabid bat; Sbk, do you know more?). We vaccinated every dog we could find when that happened. There is one island near Samui that is dog free (Ko Tan?), although it has thousands of bats (probably the reason for the absence of dogs -- the high-pitched radar squeaks). Maybe dog haters could mport some bats into their neighbourhoods or develop a whistle with that frequency -- hey, make millions!

Oh, I did not intend to sound uncaring about your son, Jackr; of course, it must have been a terrifying experience for him and for your family. Glad to hear he is recovering well.

  7. My son was bitten on the face in a restaurant not long back... luckily it healed pretty well and there hopefully won't be too much scarring. :o

And where were you in the restaurant when your son got bitten, Mr Jack? Ohhhhh. Drinking with the buds. Yep, blame the stray animals.

Thailand is full of wild things: soi dogs and cats, scorpions, centipedes, drunks on bikes. You all complain about the dogs but seeing as how your taxes are so high, it seems you can't contribute to dog rescue centres that try to take care of these problems. What moaners. I got bit by lots of dogs in Thailand and never got a rabies shot (oh, that's why she's mad!). My neighbour's dog in Canada bit me last week because I wanted the financial calculator that he had between his jaws. My neighbours think I will sue. Geez. It's life. I grabbed the calc, dog bit me, I bashed him on the nose, and he dropped the calculator. I washed off my arm. Big deal. Get on with it.

Donate to your local animal rescue centres and maybe the four-legged creatures, who have as much right as you to be here, will diminish in population. Then you can start on killing off the other things that intrude on your life, like the cries of your neighbour's baby or the husband's snoring. Chill out.

  8. i am sorry .. if my question is upsad somebody .but i just want to know .coz i have my friend and when they come to visite me they allway talking about thai girl and i just want to know about thailand .and i think thai girl is nice ..coz my friend have g/f thai :o

OK. Please tell me what this means, some kind TV soul.

And thanks for the heads up, Terry. Love ya.

  9. Beg to differ, Jaidee. No foreigner knows the word "coz" or can spell question, friend and Thailand correctly but can mangle upset (upsad) visit (visite) and simple grammar. It seems like Hauvee and Torv are alter egos. Twin trolls.

  10. I was rather incensed that you had the affront to ask Larvid to save you from your boyfriend, MTW. Based on Larvid's posts, he is a true gentleman; your request is a travesty of forum friendship, IMO. After the mafia/gun scenario, I doubt anyone will be offering to rescue you unless his name is Rambo.

Quite strange that you have regaled us with the wonders of your b/f who pays the Bt35,000 rent (you mean he took the envelope with the money over?) and that your mafia and educational connections are good.??

Your typos are bearable, but I thought that you said you were a lawyer before? Don't know any lawyers that say "better than me" or "some people do the same as me". Forgive me, some people speak better English than I do.

Anyway, wish you well in sorting out your dramas. I do expect that extracting yourself from the clutches of your bf will not be easy, especially as I surmise that he knows where your new home is. I've heard that Bali is nice.

  11. Should explain that my changover is a beer belly not a mispelling of changeover! :D

:o I was just going to ask you that. Hungover from chang everyday or? <deleted>? Leisurely? :D You probably imagining it anyway. Hey. the peas and beans are coming up in the garden. Strawberries turning colour. It's gonna be a great summer. I'm gonna get a planterbox for different kinds of lettuce.

Sorry, CGirl, don't mean to meander on your thread. Not many girls on the forum and we do like to chat. And, Leisurely is always helpful and in the know with all kinds of stuff. She's also our tarragon queen.

  12. Thanks for the info, Lopburi. I was thinking my new computer was crashing on me (but my work sites were OK) or that I was in the doghouse again. I notice the site is back up to speed today. Kind regards to the tekkies.

  13. You do really set yourself up, Peeper. The best part is that you cannae see the irrelevance of your posts. But they are entertaining, so please carry on until MTW returns with the next chapter.

Ah yes, I made a promise to Bambina: MTW, I have equated your saga to an open game story like Brangelina in another subforum.

OK, Gwertz, I do empathise with MTW and her plight, but she is such a great storyteller and she makes me laugh. I think Woody Allen will appear shortly to buy the rights to her posts.
